I'm catching the tail end of this, seems to be some kind of controversy...

https://domaingang.com/domain-news/rob-monster-off-twitter-after-christchurch-massacre-controversy/

Must be something odd to evoke this type of a response from one of our members.

Well, speaking of controlling the narrative, this did not take long to work out as predicted. When Reddit took a $300 million investment from Tencent, people expected to see changes in content policy.

Reddit is apparently popular in China among a truth-seeking population that uses all manner of technology to bypass the Great Firewall of China .

So, here we have yet another proof point that content that is objectionable is now subject to quarantine. The story is recapped here:

https://thefreethoughtproject.com/r...stion-9-11-direct-users-to-govt-site-instead/

That Orwellian dystopia looks more real every day.

I would have happily been the Reddit registrar back in the day. However, that ship sailed, just like WhatsApp which sold out to Facebook for $22 billion.

Nothing to see here.

and we've got the president of the US saying this today
All in for Senator Steve Daines as he proposes an Amendment for a strong BAN on burning our American Flag. A no brainer!
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1139878112701927424?s=20

Sure, they would need to overturn Texas vs. Johnson:

https://constitutioncenter.org/blog/when-the-supreme-court-ruled-to-allow-american-flag-burning

I doubt it happens.

I remain unconvinced that Trump is not fully aligned with the global agenda. However, some amount of dogged patriotism will be needed to fill the ranks of infantry, aka cannon fodder.

I surely hope not to see WWIII unfold, but with guys like John Bolton and Mike Pompeo on the case, the probability that cooler heads prevail is shrinking.

The bigger question of the week is whether the two ship attacks in the Gulf of Oman were legit attacks sponsored by Iran, or a nothing-burger of a false flag.

Me thinks someone wants a war in the Middle East. And soon.

lol ok he's talked about the flag before, 29 Nov 2016 https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/803567993036754944?lang=en
Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag - if they do, there must be consequences - perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail!
lose your citizenship for that:) weirdo

Social media can do a fine job of public humiliation. Just look at the case of sky-pointing giraffe hunters like this lady who became famous and flaunts it:

If someone living in America, wants to be famous for hating America, they can do that. We'll see how that works out. That is all.

Public service announcement -- speculating about war with Iran might be bad for your health:

https://israeltodaynews.blogspot.com/2019/06/david-goldberg-found-dead-in-his.html

ICYMI, Iran (Elam in the Bible) plays a big role in end-times prophecy. See Jeremiah 49. Although Iran's Revolutionary Guard has massive military firepower, prophecy is that they barely get off a shot.

I am not sure if the Iranians here at NamePros know it, but Iran now has the fastest growing Christian evangelical population in the world. See source.

As CEO of Epik, I definitely have other fish to fry so will leave the Iran rabbit hole for those who made peace with their Maker. I don't believe it is hyperbole to say that the stakes there are ridiculously high.

Short youtube clip taken from an event at washingtoninstitute.org. Appears to be at least 6 years old but looks like it is foreshadowing events happening in the middle east right now.

She is a fucking piece of shit

On the American flag burning controversy, It should be a crime with consequences IMO, when a person ignites that flag, they are igniting all the soldiers who have died for it, they are also showing they may have capabilities of committing crimes against the US nation, Fuck em , arrest them.

As for burning the flag, the court say they can do it. So, that is the law of the land -- desecration of the flag is not a crime. That said, unrepentant anti-Americans can be shunned -- no job, no friends, no favors, etc. Think of it like trade sanctions but at the community level. The outcome is pretty similar. The rubber hits the road when you have communities of non-assimilated anti-Americans that exclusively trade and associate among themselves.

A little late to the burning of the flag discussion but seeking to criminalize it would be a trap and not the solution that perhaps is being desired. It would be a trap because you are creating further government coercion where there is no actual victim and normalizing similar interference, plus the cost of investigating and enforcing such laws will only grow bureaucratic overreach.

Being able to protest one's own government is a necessary freedom in a republic with a healthy democratic process even if burning a flag seems like a completely misguided expression. There was a time in US recent history when there was the draft and the left was against the war but now they seem to be easily manipulated and both parties unite when it comes to approving spending bills for never ending wars.

I think the real problem, besides the illegal immigration, is the cultural Marxists that have taken over public education and the higher education in the US. Originally, anything not specifically outlined in the constitution was supposed to be left to individual states but the federal department of education has grown into one of the most bloated bureaucracies that has consistently produced results inverse to its funding and now ideologically cultural marxist.

John Taylor Gatto is a great author on this topic and unfortunately passed away recently. IndoctrinateU is a useful documentary if someone is new to higher education problems. And one should not forget Yuri Bezmenov the ex KGB defector who's interviews on the methods of subversion is eye opening.

Positive news out of Texas.
In March, Texas Attorney General opened an investigation into discrimination against Chick-fil-A by the City of San Antonio. And the state legislator took a stance against anti-religious agenda by passing "Chick-fil-A Bill" defending the Christian company from being discriminated due to their faith.
The bill will ban any state entity and city governments from discriminating against Christian groups by punishing them for their contributions to religious charities.

This news bit is not meant to offend vegans or those currently dieting or fasting:)

Hoping this intolerance from the left leaning tech sector will backfire on them and translate into diversity of thought and marketplace. Right now there doesn't appear any real signs they want to change their MO and are only doubling down.
It has been uplifting to see recent cases of people and organizations successfully fighting back by legal means issues arsing from progressive ideas.

I believe the management shakeup at SPLC was perhaps the sign of a tipping point. The overreach became so egregious that their own loyal stakeholders began feeling uncomfortable in the wake of escalating legal battles. If the DOJ gets in the mix on Silicon Valley tech bias prior to 2020 Presidential election cycle, things could get interesting in a hurry. In the meantime, in the wake of unaccountable censorship, there are now lots of stakeholders trying to figure out what comes after Google, YouTube and Twitter. Publishers with vast audiences are now openly declaring their disdain for YouTube and Apple.

Lots of skeletons hiding on the left, the quicker they come to the light the better for society. SPLC is one of those examples.

If DOJ still has good people there it would get interesting fast, US is always only one administration away from socialism :( thinking of the fact that Bernie Sanders had better chances of winning against Trump then Hillary Clinton.

One recent story not receiving much coverage on the tech news sites. One of their own reporters, Ars Technica writer Peter Bright aka @DrPizza was charged with soliciting child sex online.

First time I have seen dailydot site so not sure what to think of it yet.

Matthew 23:28 comes to mind.

At the moment, I don't have the slightest interest in burning an American flag. I spent nearly a decade hoisting and saluting the colors, ceremonially folding the flag into compact triangles for stowage, and (occasionally) presenting the stars and stripes at funerals to widows. My grandfather, who fought in WW2, kept it flying continuously in his yard. So I know what it means to people. Fortunately, I can criticize the USA as harshly as I wish without needing to burn a flag – thereby insulting good people.

However, if the USA ever outlaws flag burning, I'll be first in line to set fire to an American flag. If they ever want to strip my citizenship for insulting the symbols of an authoritarian State, then they can flush my citizenship down the drain.

Being American has meant (and should continue to mean) honoring liberty, protest, criticism, diversity, and free expression. If being American instead means a fascistic devotion to a police State, or to a ruling regime with its Great Leader, or if we're meant to salute a racially or religiously or politically "pure" America – then count me out.

Even as a teenager, I refused to mutter the "pledge of allegiance", which was mandatory in public schools. Why should a private citizen be forced to swear loyalty to God or to a federal government? It's an affront. Moreover it runs contrary to the original intention for a federation of independent, sovereign states. That pledge arose in the 1890s, a few decades after the Civil War. Hence the emphasis on an "indivisible" Nation State, which must not be questioned by the separatist individual states. Much later, congress inserted the "under God" phrase during the 1950s, when the federal government was busy persecuting people who thought differently as disloyal commies. Not our country's original tradition, and not one worthy of respect.

Thanks -- definitely looks like a scam.

Perhaps some Korean members of the NamePro community want to flush this scammer out. The industry does not need such scammers at all, and it does not reflect well on the Korean domainer community when this type of nonsense is allowed to continue.

And yes, this topic deserves its own thread. @Eric Lyon

Thank you. It is more sophisticated than most appraisal scams as the domain would directly compete with another site/business in Asia (not in Korea proper). They at least took the time to think about their 'attack'.

The news this week about a proposed amendment to Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act is potentially a turning of the tide. The amendment was put forward by Senator Hawley of Missouri:

https://www.hawley.senate.gov/senat...amend-section-230-immunity-big-tech-companies

In short, it would force large, dominant platforms to demonstrate that they are not engaged in blatant editorial bias in their content. Well, of course they are doing that, but this would make that unlawful.

Here is one commentary on the topic:

We'll see where this goes. In the meantime, with election season heating up, at least one senator is gearing up to ride this theme into re-election. POTUS DJT has been mostly rhetorical on the topic.
