Thanks to this forum and posting in the Sales section for advice, I have really gained some understanding today. We often hear the words 'you should think of the function of your domain and the buyer to which you will sell it to.' - and I knew this, but only until recently when I've been looking for possible outbound sales, dis it really click.
When you start to really think about a possible customer for your domain, the way you approach a domain purchase really changes, or at least I've realised that today. Looking through Google at potential niche customers, I can visualise the kind of domain they might need to improve their business.
Some domains might sound and seem fairly decent, but when you actually come to try and find people who will benefit from having that domain, and try to get them to part with their cash, it doesn't seem as great anymore. So as a total beginner, I really think I've had an awakening of sorts today
