The new weekly domain sales report is out at DNJournal.com. Last year four new gTLD sales reached six figures but with this year almost half over, none had been reported at that level until now. We've learned that Free.Games has changed hands in a blockbuster six-figure sale that is not only the year's highest new gTLD sale to date, it is also the biggest non .com sale of any kind including ccTLDs and legacy non .com gTLDs like .net and .org. The price is more than 5 times higher than that of the next closest non .com sale of 2019. We also saw the year’s 20th 6-figure .com sale as well as a good outing from the ccTLDs who placed five names on the our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. Perhaps because it is a directory type name and not a brand type name, especially being plural. I still agree with you though that it was under-sold.

Directory sites and affiliate sites alike are hurting thanks to mainstream sites like Yelp and Google Reviews. Really, it is a problem we will all continue to face with conglomerate web companies and apps taking over the internet.

I'd also like to ask if anyone else feels that after the top 2 domains out of the top 10, the rest of names are really not that good (yes, some of them have their meaning, but for the sake of what?). I always wonder why so many 2 word .com names that seemingly make little sense or have little IMPACT go for so much money.

I remember something being a bit different about free.games being registered. The.games EAP didn't begin until 14 September 2016 and Sunrise ended 10 September 2016, however free.games was registered on 12 September 2016. Chad's (the presumed seller) new gTLD forum also seems to be no more either and I believe he may have posted about this domain name there. It's possible he bought it directly from donuts, the registry, because it was a reserved domain name.

Nice names, and maybe it cost 6-figure sum, but Shooting.games are a bit simple for other two.

Well i too have a domain in .games which estibot appraises at $1000.I bet not many domain names are liked by estibot and gives hilarious appraises which is far away from the actual sales which mostly ends up on the higher side. This sale of 6 figure is enough to convince me to renew it for nxt more 5 yrs atleast.

So we don’t know the amount he paid for the three together, or even if they were individually priced. I’m presuming the lions share of what he paid was tilted towards free.games. Six figures could even mean he made a loss. We just don’t know.

They did the deal with Chad before launch. Post was dated August 4, 2016 they had to wait and the whois shows the first day they could publish it.
