I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Also, did you guys get that "Letter from the CIRA", where it tried to explain why they had to rerun the TBR yet again?

To be honest, it smelled like a big load of partisan crap, and like I've said before, lots of Registrars (especially POOL - who were out of the TBR for the first few weeks after Fury) had technical issues with Fury changes, and this is an issue with two Registrars who failed to adhere to signed & published Registrar requirements (regardless of whether the CIRA accepted the erroneous orders previously), then whining about it, getting it reversed, and mucking up the whole system for a week.

It's like me going to a bank with a pile of counterfeit money, getting arrested, then stating in my defense that "hey, the bank always accepted it before". And if the CIRA was the RCMP (and I was a big Registrar - $$$), then I guess I would be released, an apology issued, and allowed to make a second deposit, this time using real money.

I never got a letter. 400+ .ca's and CIRA never said anything to me.
I eventually did get an email from MYID stating that the tbr had been cancelled.

I'm just waiting for this week to be over (and for MyID and Sibername not to screw up again and get it revoked) so we can get back to normal for April 24.

Just another 37 minutes....

Well it looks like MyID had a good week, Sibername did not, but POOL was an absolute beast, taking 9 out of the Top 14 selections.

And our interesting little friend 2537244 ONTARIO INC grabbed the following:

bdcyoungentrepreneuraward.ca
actnowbc.ca
idlefreebc.ca
puppetsup.ca
petsmagazine.ca
narp.ca
parentingyourparents.ca
thegoodpress.ca
wheatleyrealestate.ca
universitycup.ca
fuelawards.ca
blackbearbooks.ca
environmenthaliburton.ca
foodsecuresaskatchewan.ca
rippled.ca
universitesquebecoises.ca
moneywizard.ca
healthyschools2020.ca
zuppa.ca
allthat.ca
seniorspolicylens.ca
spark2017.ca

And with the very last TBR selection, out trots Réseau Internet Québec Inc, a registrar I have literally never heard of.

Your interesting little friend can keep em all.

I know, but it's more like a "Freak Picks of the Week" type deal, as well as wondering who exactly this character is.

I managed to snag a few domains yesterday, but I did not get my usual "Congratulations" email from the CIRA - are they just hedging their bets in case a big Registrar complains and they need to redo the TBR yet again?

It's really getting disheartening buying domains on the TBR and knowing that it currently stands a 25% chance of being cancelled or reversed.

BTW, any news on the auctions at MyID and any other registrars? I have access to some, but not all.

Although there was no "official" TBR Report this week, I still kept a list, so the .CA To Be Released / TBR Results & Leftovers for April 18 is now online. And as for the TBR Results, it looks like POOL is back in business.

This week’s .CA TBR list contained double the amount of domains, so obviously the number of premium words, LLLs, brandables, and multi-words also increased commensurately, and some of the top selections this week included...

Read This Quick Before the CIRA Cancels It!

And our interesting little friend 2537244 ONTARIO INC grabbed the following:

What's with these numbered companies? Are they standalone TBR-only registrars or subsidiaries of larger registrars like Pool?

And what does it take to start a registrar with TBR capabilities?

What's with these numbered companies? Are they standalone TBR-only registrars or subsidiaries of larger registrars like Pool?

And what does it take to start a registrar with TBR capabilities?

99.9% of these numbered companies are owned by a large Registrar, but they operate as "mini-Registrars" for the purpose of the TBR, so each requires a difference business entity.

There is a story behind this particular guy, as he is not affiliated with a major registrar, and when I called the CIRA to ask, the conversation totally shifted and guy literally blew up on me on the phone, screaming "Why do you need to know? If you were a customer of theirs, you'd know who they were!!"

This led some to believe it's a CIRA account or owned by someone affiliated with the CIRA, as there is absolutely no contact info online concerning this numbered company, no email, no phone, no website, etc. It seems to exist just to grab weird TBR names.

As for the second question, I think it requires $1,000 a year for the license per server (it might have went up) and a CIRA inspection to ensure you have the hardware, infrastructure, and staff to support your registrar functions.

Many people have tried to go the "be a TBR registrar and print money on auctions" route, and failed miserably, as they literally get taken to town by the big boys like MyID and Sibername. You need the bidder volume to create auctions and the understanding that you will never get the "75.ca's and BEEF.ca's" and instead need to move down a tier to more reasonable, but still lucrative, targets.

I knew a guy back in the day who started a .CA TBR drop-catching service and he ran it like a Vegas casino, trying for the very top premium domains and failing every single week. I told him to move down a bit to the second-tier, and he'd just laugh and yank the slot machine lever again. :xf.cool:

He may have to wait a while for the stink to blow off and take a few year's vacation, like Mulroney did.

He may have to wait a while for the stink to blow off and take a few year's vacation, like Mulroney did.

The only ones that will ever listen to him again are the teenage girls.

Even that will stop when his unibrow grows together and his nose hairs come in :xf.laugh:

Remember the first thing he did when he got into power was to cut our tax free savings account in half. He promptly gave us a carbon tax etc.

Harper gave us the tax free savings account and he cut two points from the gst.

Now I'm in favour of long .ca's :xf.laugh:

I need to wipe the stink off of me just talking about the idiot :stinkyfeet:

What's funny is that more people didn't see this coming - Justin Trudeau was born an entitled shill for the rich - he sat on Queen Elizabeth's lap as a toddler, he played with the son's of oil Sheikhs and Princes, he grew up surrounded by the financial elite of North American society, and was a millionaire trust fund baby the minute he was born.

But then he runs for Prime Minister, talking about equality, women's rights, and helping the poor, and from Day 1 he's been a corporate shill, who only does seemingly-humanitarian acts when he's told to.

"We need more immigration to drive our teetering service + housing economy" says corporate overlords, "No problem," say Justin, "How's another million sound - thanks for the contributions!". "Women politicians?" he adds, "I love them for the photo ops, as long as they shut their mouths and clean my office." "I also love poor people, they keep smoking cigarettes, buying liquor & lottery tickets, are addicted to legalized gambling, and pay my Carbon tax - just wait til they get a load of my homegrown!" he cackles.

I didn’t realize there were so many anti-Trudeau fans on here! :xf.grin: As much as a lot of people don’t like Trump, give me him anyday over Trudeau please!!!

Politics aside, anyone know the final prices for beef and Ams?
