How many domainers hear something on the news, at a movie, or hear someone close to you say/speak something, and you wonder right away if what you heard might make a good domain?

Politically I'm a moderate and have been all my life. However I've recently registered two domains whose idea came about because of what I recently heard. I can't tell you how many times I'd go to my computer or pull out my android to check to see if a name was available and it was already registered:xf.frown:

Today is a little different...I can't give you the exact name for obvious reasons, but here's the theme for each one; GreenNewDeal.Homes and SocialismOnTrial(.)com.

Chances aren't that great for me to sell either of these domains, however chances aren't great for selling any domains. My bigger point is, we probably hear words/slogans/phrases every day that have potential. btw, GreenNewDeal(.)com was first reg'd in 2005 and is still held by the same person, and SocialismOnTrial has never been reg'd.

Cheers!

Everyone who is a domainer does that basically.

However, political domains tend to have limited commercial appeal and shelf life.

You're pretty bold like me, aren't you Brad:xf.wink: I agree with what you said, however "if" one knows how to price it, who to sell it to, and when to sell it, it could be done profitably. If I was to list it at Sedo, Afternic, or Uniregistry it would be like pizzing the wind. Regardless, thanks!

Same. I go hunting for domains from things I hear people talking about, trends from news online and things on TV.

I have wasted some money doing this also... and I've sat on a few domains before for years before I've been able to shift them. It's a gamble.

I do this all the time......you overhear a conversation, watch a documentary, listen to podcasts talking to your friends who have done something, been somewhere or just plain old news watching.

I mean the list is endless on where we can get inspiration for names, does not mean they are all going to work out but it keeps the brain ticking over.....which is not a bad thing at all

It really is a lot of fun.

Luke...it really is a lot of fun...the last really good idea, I got from a store front called ULTA Beauty. I really liked the four letters "ULTA" and when I got home I registered 14 .coms starting with UltaBrand(.)com, and others like UltaSports, UltaDiet and UltaMortgage. I also checked for possible trademark issues, but there doesn't appear to be any for my domains.

Lifes a gamble, but when you can buy a .com for $8 which I consider to be intellectual property btw, i think it's far better than wasting your money on a lottery ticket that you throw away the next day.

Hey Nick..i checked your profile and I see you're from Whales(n) My wife and I spent a few days in Whales before departing for Dublin via a ferry. Also, my Dad was Welch. It sounds like you're very involved in all aspects of life instead of just being a couch potato. I'll send you a pm when I get a chance about a great .UK domain that I own, and maybe someday we could lift a pint or two together:xf.smile:
