New tlds are slowly getting more popular, within 10 years very few people will use or want .com adress. New tld's have more meaning and will rank better.

Hmm thanks for your input. I'm not sure I agree with you being that almost all major gTLD sales are registry...but I do agree they've gained traction (same goes for .org and .net). But .com is king, period and will be.

What does it matter if the registry sells them? They are still gaining strong traction. Even Google decided to rebrand to one. Agree on .net and .org also, they are taking market share form .com every day.

You are wrong pal, things are changing fast and you will be left behind with your dated extensions. .com is gradually dying and most startups use different tlds.

That's literally factually incorrect. Endless threads actually going thru which ones they use.

within 10 years very few people will use or want .com adressr.

I’m positive that good .com names will stay strong. Weaker two-word ones etc, will receive more and more competition from ngTLDs.

To be totally correct with this statement one has to look at Alphabet the company rebranding as https://abc.xyz because they were not able to procure Alphabet.com

I think the day will come when google will acquire Alphabet.com and you will see another rebrand.

That said the usage of abc.xyz by google's parent company probably did kick start this extension more so than some of the others.

No, they chose .xyz, they could buy any domain name in the world!

They do not care about alphabet.com, that is not a cool address, it is like an old man in fishing boots.

It is correct that they chose xyz because alphabet.com was not available.

No, they probably won't get it, because BMW owns it.

As far as I know (from reading some articles) the address Alphabet was owned by Ford at the time and they were holding out to see if google would pay out their employee pension funds when purchasing the domain :xf.laugh:

I'm joking of course but the pension funds are single the biggest company expense for car companies and Ford probably saw dollar signs when google made the change to Alphabet as the parent company. So google had to get very inventive to come up with something clever.

Did they succeed? ---- Yes

Are they truly happy with the address? ---- Well they didn't rebrand to google.xyz so you be the judge.

Google can afford any domain name they want. They do not care for dated and terrible sounding .com.

abc.xyz - cool, short and easy to remember.
alphabet.com - like a dirty old man.

Yeah, no. They cannot afford a profitable business affiliate of a multi-billion company. They would have to make a huge offer for bmw to even consider rebranding their business segment and for what? Just for the investor page short URL? They could have had that page on alphabet.google.com

Also, abc.xyz is a great domain on a mediocre extension.

It just happens to make sense as a domain hack abc...xyz = alphabet.

Almost every new gtld has few perfect matches that just make sense. Like Health.Care, Home.Loans, Stock.Photos etc.

.xyz is one of the best new tlds and almost any term goes with it, that is why it has had more 6 fgiures sales than any others. Keep smoking your .com crack pipe, it may be too late to get recons.xyz and you'll be stuck in the past!

Quick, future is now! What is recons anyway? Maybe try get class.xyz also instead of dated class.com?

New members with trolling agendas. Note the threads “she” has posted in in the 24 whole hours she has been here. I think some people have too much time in here and create alter id’s to toy with members they can’t with their real ID.

OMG, I just visited www.class.com and it is an insanely nice developed website.

@Recons.Com this site is as classy as it gets and the domain itself is incredible. (y) (y) (y)

I don't know how anyone could possibly call anything about that site dated. Even the look and the layout is as fresh as it gets. :xf.cool:
