Alright now hear me out. I know domaining is a big business and I can't play with the big fish but I can cheat a little bit.

So, to start off, earning $1k+ profit monthly consistently would be considered an achievement by me. I would start being serious if I could achieve that. I know domaining is a numbers game and the only point is to earn more than I spend and I would need to spend a lot.

I want to know if I should even consider domaining if I don't have a lot of money to spend. What I've learned so far would suggest that no, it's pretty much impossible but here is what I've come up with:

So, as I've heard, the most efficient way (I think) of selling domains is to do outbound by email. Domainers don't want to buy domains unless they are a bargain and I don't intend to sell for a bargain. I want to sell to end users. Now I've read and studied a bit how people do their outbound. Insert domain-related keywords, find businesses with an inferior name etc etc. I get that but even then, I don't think I could get a response rate that I would need to keep earning consistently.

So, I am able to automate the outbound process. I am able to scrape emails by keywords and send mails automatically to those scraped domains. I would not need to search for them, I would just bulk send emails automatically to spare me the trouble, effort and time to do proper outbound. I don't know if I should do this, however.

Spam is illegal but all of you guys do cold emailing which is technically also spam and illegal so there shouldn't be a difference. If anyone could give me some input on that, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm learning and reading up on that a lot.

Anyways, your most honest answer - should I even consider domaining? It's the first ''online money making'' thing I took up but I failed. I was naive and I thought I could sell hand-regged domains.

I've been earning some money from internet marketing, selling services etc. but I want to retry domaining. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No, not all; dare I say, it's strict minority who do such an aggressive outbound as you describe.

With such an approach and that many spammy mails, you'll find your IP blacklisted soon.

Lol that's no problem. I can use countless IPs and hide myself. I am concerned about legal consequences, not banning.

The reason I want to do it like that because it seems like the most reliable way to keep up with buying and selling without a large investment. People who don't do that and make good money usually have thousands of domains and have massive expenses, something I myself cannot afford.

Dear Lord Antares sir,
It is extremely rare for me to be offline/ busy in the real world and experience a burning need to tell someone the truth online. Thank you, for helping me feel so alive on this fine evening.

The great Lord Antares said "Lol that's no problem. I can use countless IPs and hide myself"
I do not know exactly how NP defines an "attack", but we might find out right now.
You F'n little prick!
Email was effectively destroyed by Spam.
Google was allowed to rise alone because all other search engines were over-run by Spam.
Social booking marking was destroyed by Spam.
Spam, the gross food, was destroyed by Spam. :)
Social Networks = Spam, Spam, Spam.
You F'n little prick?
Ironically, the effort you took to attach 10 tags to the OP shows you might somehow know the value of detailed "work", or is that another attempt at SPAM?

Lord Antares also said, "I can't play with the big fish but I can cheat a little bit...."
Do you want to cheat everyone in your life who actually might care about you, out of a chance to see you grow into a decent human being?

What's your problem? You write like a kid but you've been here since 2006 so the only thing that makes sense to me is that you're a grandpa.

I was just asking some question and wanting to know how others feel about this. I would basically be doing what everyone else is doing, only automated. Your response is immature and of no substance.

Sending unsolicited emails = spamming.

The guys doing outbounds are spamming, kinda, yes. But at least they know and are hand picking who they are targetting, they see a benefit for the ones they are targetting, and they are modifying each email they send to each of their targets. Almost nothing wrong with this approach.

Instead of spamming with emails, you could use other more profitable channels, like linkedin, fb, messengers and to contact only with relevant people.

Seriously,

You don't need much to invest. What you need is "learning of domains name that get sold"

The question is what domain get sold?

Be smart. Don’t spam. Research. Only invest if you can afford to lose money.

You may lose everything. You may hit the jackpot. No guarantees.

Actually, I've been lookin more into it and you're right. I found some places like that where I could advertise my domains to end users in a targeted manner. I've given up the idea of spamming and I will experiment with my new ideas.

Yeah I know but I guess my question is what's the min normal price of a domain which can be sold for significantly more? Is it like $xxx from a domainer which can be sold for $xxxx? I doubt I'll find any goodies for $xx.

People doing outbound marketing of their domain names are purely spammers because they are cold emailing without express approval or permission of the receiver. Hence, don’t do it unless you really are struggling for pennies.

Moreover, when you outbound, you are losing a bit of value on your Domain Names because the control of putting a price goes in the hand of probable buyer to whom you might seem like a desperate seller, since you have reached out to inquire whether they are interested in your domain name.

I’ll suggest you read about aftermarket sales reports and keep an eye on daily namebio sales reports to figure out what endusers are buying in order to form an investment strategy, and go along that fine path.

Once invested, put them up for sale at afternic with buy now price and minimum acceptable offer price.

Hope this helps.

What a pathetic reason to spam.

All of us don’t cold email, so that statement is false.
Go get a job at macdonalds, we dont need more spammers, business is already dirty enough

Thanks for the post. You seem like a long standing and reputable member. As I've said in the post above, I've given up on that idea, I think. I've come up with a new one (legal this time). Now, I've done some searching around and seems only a few people have had this idea. But they did it very wrong and failed to get results. Only one person was on track with what I wanted to do, the rest were doing it wrong. I will go ahead and try that.

Also, I would like to repeat the above question:

''Yeah I know but I guess my question is what's the min normal price of a domain which can be sold for significantly more? Is it like $xxx from a domainer which can be sold for $xxxx? I doubt I'll find any goodies for $xx.''

If I just knew, roughly, if being able to invest as low as $1k or less is even worth the trouble. Or is domaining so random with so many factors involved, that this question is unanswerable?

There is no minimum investment, you can buy something for $8 and sell it for $XXX or $X,XXX, you can also spend alot of money on something and never sell it. There are too many factors to say for sure wether it is worth your time - ultimately it's up to the individual on how successful they are.

I suppose you're right. I just have to get the right names. Where do you suggest I try and buy them? Namepros?

I've noticed that on sites such as Sedo or Afternic, all the domains are vastly overpriced so I don't think I should even bother looking there. Any other place you would suggest?

maybe read the "report completed sales" thread and see where people are buying.

You cannot really put a price on a domain name and it completely depends on what is the budget and buyer is willing to pay.

So try and acquire low, sell high would be the right thang to do.. I’ve purchased domain names in four figures and five figures which are still lying in my closet waiting for that day, while I have had domain names acquired for two figures which have gotten me four and five figure returns.

At the end of the day, it’ll all come down to your research performed on a particular niche in domaining.

This thread is pure gold to get an idea what Domainers are selling, how, where and for how much..

I have no affiliation with DNAcademy and have not been through the course (so I cant personally vouch for it) but if you are looking for a shortcut to as much knoweldge as possible then it may make sense for you to enroll in that, I have heard good things about it.

Generally you want to be buying expired domains, create an account at ExpiredDomains.net and try to familiarise yourself with all of the options on that website, try and find the answers to these questions;

What happens to a domain after it expires?
What does Dropcatching mean?
What is a hand registered domain?
What are GoDaddy Auctions / Dropcatch.com / Namejet.com
What is domain Parking?
What is a Brandable domain? What is an exact match domain? What does LLL / LLLL / NNN / VCVC mean?

After you have a basic overview of those things you can begin to worry about valuing a domain.

I understand what all of these are. I tried some expired domains but realized they are shit. Parking is the worst thing I've ever tried in my life. I understand what all these auctions are. Knowledge about domaining in theory is something I have. I just lack the knowledge to put the act of buying and selling in practice.

I suspect that, along with being able to recognize which names are good and which are bad, I need to just know how and where to sell.

Actually, my response did have substance. Perhaps your criminal mind should read it several more times?

Dear "Lord", If/When your "hiding behind endless IP addresses" (potentially) lands you in Federal Prison, I will NOT be the one who helped you get there. Are you actually expecting to enjoy the experience?

You really want good advice?
Spam has destroyed many things on the internet, why do you first appear as a 99.9957% criminal...

Lol that's no problem. I can use countless IPs and hide myself.

and now try to turn into a real person?

Can we start with clarity:
do you want to cheat,
or somehow now pretend to be honest,
or actually change your criminal ways?

Edit: Either you are using a very secure VPN /Tor, or you are foolish beyond all hope, I am un-watching this thread and will hopefully never see your response. May your path to becoming a decent person be a pleasant journey.

At first I wanted to write a constructive post to help this kid.

But then he just goes off on assumptions like he doesn't give af.

I can't play with the big fish but I can cheat a little bit.

Cheating... will get you banned from every marketplace, and it's probably scamming.

I get that but even then, I don't think I could get a response rate that I would need to keep earning consistently.

So basically, you don't want to even try, so you conclude you won't get a good response rate. Despite so many outbounders who get a consistent response rate. If you don't want to try, then don't ask for advice?

Spam is illegal but all of you guys do cold emailing which is technically also spam and illegal so there shouldn't be a difference.

Great. You assume we're all spamming. Because you couldn't be ashed to google what spam is. You just went off of an uneducated assumption and that's that! Just like your whole OP.

I was worried about outbound marketing, so I googled. And there's this CAN-SPAM act you should read. Most SUCCESSFUL people (like federer) who do outbound marketing are not spammers because they follow the legal rules of outbound. Hence, they are not spammers.

Anyway, was going to give u advice on how to make some bling but whoah. stay away from domaining if you go off of armchair decisions like your OP.

I'm saying this out of personal experience tbh. I went off of armchair reasonings and decisions when I started out and lost like k's. You have to actually sit down and read things. Whenever you come up with a conclusion, don't act on it -- but research first. Only act on educated conclusions.

Just like this taht I learned a few days ago: "Oh, look! It's a rabbit. Let's give it a carrot!" Assumption: Ah yeah, rabbits love carrots teehee.

Then I googled: It's a myth. Rabbits do not eat carrots in nature -- except for rare occasions.
