Bidding on your own names at NameJet...?

NameSilo
Watch
Once in awhile I see people bidding on their own domains at NJ. I would think it would be frowned upon.

Today's seems more obvious than normal. Or am I missing something here?

Airlinejobs.com owned by Andy Booth at Booth.com and high bidder is BQDNcom (James Booth).

3 bids down we see Boothcom as a bidder.

Same thing with MovieZone.com. Owned by Andy Booth in which he currently appears to be the high bidder.

High Bid: $2,475 USD by boothcom

They actually won their own domain airplanesforsale.com. Im guessing it didnt get as high as they wanted so needed to protect it.

Bidder Amount Date
bqdncom $2,001 7/17/2017 12:23 PM
boothcom $1,950 7/17/2017 12:23 PM

I wonder by what logic did Namejet allow such high reserves. In the past, iirc, they have declined to list domains with unrealistic reserves! Any idea what makes this domain (pdca.com) worth a reserve between $25K and $50K?
To normies they reject high reserves but if your a power seller you can place any reserve you want and apparently have your friends bid 1 buck below the reserve to generate some fake interest...

Is any of this true? Share your source please.

Is it still ongoing?
Yes, the Shill Bidding Will continue until Jonathan Tenenbaum (namejets manager) gets Fired!

Jonathan has a Fake IP Address from Netherlands and Fake Usernames to make Fake Bids on Namejets auctions. I already sent all the information to the Real Owners of Namejet ( Web.com ) and they are investigating this matter very seriously.

At this point Namejet has 2 options: Keep losing Trust and Money or Get rid off the actual manager ( Jonathan Tenenbaum AKA @NameJetGM ).

Guess which option Namejet is going to pick! :xf.grin::xf.laugh::ROFL::hilarious::smuggrin::woot:

Actually, you will find they are listed by another seller. I moved these domains on. How is this disgraceful? James is bidding because he wants these names (formerly owned by me) at those prices. I am bidding on these names (formerly owned by me), because it's for a price I would buy it back for, IE for less than I let them go to begin with. It isn't shill bidding, as evidenced by buying AirplanesforSale.com. Find something better to complain about.
bullsh*t:rage: the industry needs 2 be cleaned up

What are these usernames, you should let people know so they don’t get bid up. I have seen so many auctions just below the reserve, it is a very strange trend I have not seen elsewhere, but seems to be common place here.

Do you know where Namejet is currently located? Florida or Washington?

(I got someone in NYC thrown in prison for fraud. I'm ready to contact the right people to get this investigation started if/when the time is right).
lock them up :xf.smile:

I may have missed it but did we ever get to the bottom of whether the Booths were bidding on their own domains / each others domains?

The answer is NO, the manager of Namejet: jonathan tenenbaum just hide behind the computer and stopped responding on this thread due to his INCOMPETENCE TO BE AN HONEST ´manager´ of namejet.

Yesterday I discovered that there is a Private Facebook Group for ALL the SHILL BIDDERS of Namejet, this private group has as a administrator jonathan tenenbaum, what a coincidence right??

My investigations are going to the bottom and Iam thinking in filing a formal Complaint, my final goal is to get OUT jonathan tenenbaum of Namejet and make Justice to all the people that were fooled by these Shill Bidding Mafia (@NameJetGM ).

What kind of POS company is this, you call them at 1 o clock in the afternoon, and they answer the phone, Sorry, there is nobody to take your call right now, try emailing support. Is everybody out back placing bids?

With all that money the take for their payment processing fee, you think they could pay a rep $20 to answer phones an hour or something?

Total F rating for customer service.

WTF!! The Facebook Shill Bidding group has been DELETED after I exposed their Mafia!! That confirms my theory that jonathan tenenbaum is READING ALL MY POSTS!! ahahahahahahahahaha! Busted!!!

Total F rating for customer service.
As long as jonathan tenenbaum is the ¨¨manager¨¨ that company is a Total DISASTER!! but keep calling Namejet to Annoy jonathan, in fact ask for him to talk with you, believe me, jonathan is so AFRAID to get calls from customers or VICTIMS should I say…

jonathan tenenbaum is following the steps of Michael Krell, and Will end up just like him: FIRED!!! :xf.grin::xf.laugh::ROFL::hilarious::hilarious::smuggrin::woot::playful::joyful::happy: @NameJetGM

He didn't ask what happened -- to which you answered. He asked for a link.

Even if a Facebook page is deleted, that doesn't negate the fact there was once a link that may or may not have been archived somewhere. Without so much of furnishing a link (working or not), you can't expect your claim to be taken seriously -- with all due respect.

Yep, have to go by "innocent until proven guilty" on this one.

Has anyone ever times the countdown timer for namejet, the last minute sure seems really long?

First off, you are absolutely correct that since it is against Namejet TOS then the simple answer is that bidding on your own domain is wrong. But again, I'm not debating that. What I'm trying to debate is whether or not this should be changed.

You are NOT deceiving anyone in an open auction with no reserve by bidding on your own name. Nobody is being fooled. The owner is bidding for a domain no different and with equal chance like everyone else. This is a fact. It is not debatable. If he wins he buys the domain for (ex) $10,000. If he loses someone else buys the domain for $10,000. If the losing party thought the domain was worth more they would have placed another bid. That is the beauty of free market capitalism and market pricing.

When Tucows buys back their own stock from the market they are essentially doing the exact same thing. They have more information than the average investor in the market. They feel good about the future prospects of the business relative to the current share price and so they buy back shares for the benefit of existing shareholders. If they did NOT feel good about the future relative to the current share price than they would not buy those shares.

If I put xyz.com in auction on Namejet with NO RESERVE and the auction is about to close at $20,000 but I think this domain has a good chance of selling someday for $100,000 then why shouldn't I be able to buy it back for more than the current bid? If the high bidder also thinks it is worth more than they will outbid me (again). And again and again. At the end one party values the asset higher than the others and they win the auction and pay the price.

Who got fooled?

correct

fact is the NJ system ,,allow,, to bid on your own domain
at Sedo you cant
