Just wondering what the general thoughts are about whether the recent trend to legalize marijuana will boost the prices of pot-related domains?

I live in British Columbia, Canada, and many people and businesses are geared up for October 17th (legalization date). In today's post came some information from the BC Government (Provincial Gov, eqv. to US State gov.).

A simple info sheet but using the domain : GetCannabisClarity.ca. This forwards to a BC Gov page but it's interesting they elected to use a "regular" domain for this purpose. And that they used "Cannabis" and not any of the other variants.

Because Cannabis is the Scientific word for the plant. Its not a stigmatized word in the industry.

Not to get political, but it's sad to hear him talk about subsidies in a market that has already been savaged by interventionist policies. They can't just leave it alone and let good businesses be good? Laissez-faire! Individuals should get their records cleaned, and furthermore, be repaid any fees/costs for the trouble they had to go through while the state criminalized a plant.

Thanks @carob for a new "tool"!

https://domainscope.com/#domain-trends-anchor

Pretty good "name suggestions" .a great research tool for trends!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Been noting some "long tailed" Keyword + Geo names
for example
findmedicalmarijuanainok.com (Find Medical Marijuana In OK) assume Ok = Oklahoma!
Yes there are long names...but targeting 'Local Geo" + "Keyword" or vice versa can be a money maker for some!
Wow that looks good. That's powerful Hempag.com and the metrics of that single sale may change the game for all of us at a minimum on hemp domains with carryover too cbd and potentially further.
Herbalpetmeds; not even good
If this came up for renewal in my inventories I'd drop it. Guess it's time to rethink the game. Even bad three word domains may be selling in this sector. Although 95percent of my inventory is in SEO two word dot coms.
Three word; I think I have a bunch of 3 word drive thru;
Drivethruweed
Drivethruleaf
Weedrivethru
Pet care:
Leafpet
Leafvet
Leafveterniary
I think I have these, I've got to get more time into this. Apparently all sectors, Canna, Herb, Leaf, Hemp, 420, And the rest, are fielding sales and inquires including my own inventories.
420jolt: I can see it, coming soon on a beer tap near me. I've got to find a buyer for Leafizz. Fyi; one probably won't see a combination of alcohol and thc/cbds. Reason being is most states this will be controlled by a separate board from the alcohol state regulatory commissions. The difficulty of two regulatory agencies and double taxation ( alcohol and cannabis ) would be a quagmire to launch a new leafizz or 420jolt. So it will be in a beer tap but a fizzy fun drink with thc and or cbds. For those unfamiliar with the drinkable space. Cannabis fun drinks have 0 calories and almost no discernable hangover. Extract guy 5 years back said this is a billion dollar formula. A fun drink with no hangover with NO calories.
The large players will change this in some states. Carona for example. But they will leave most states to the craft brew cannabis guys I'm thinking. Lots of domains and brandables.
Question?
Anyone seen any movement on mmj ( the words) or has it become too limiting for usage in this forever evolving space hedging twords recreational legalization?
As of Sept 18th New Jersey had a " lounge and consumables "( cafe, coffeehouses, lounges etc ) provision in the ( almost ) finalized and tenuous legislative approval by years end. This is a perfect example on a evolving and ever changing policy. And how a approval here will sell leafcafe, I think I have both leafcoffeeshop and coffeehouse.
Edusers will pay for good cafe domains. They know how successful they will be. That's a given.
Massachusetts just wacked it off the planed rollout of cafes. Last week Holyoke mayor went nuts, saying it was a disservice too town centers that need cafes and coffee shops to revitalize town squares. The governor nixed it anyhow.
Just ongoing examples of a glance into these emerging markets. What opportunities for domain holders.
Treasure
I hold leafpet in .com and leafvet
I wonder where the vets are at in Canada on a Nationwide set of guidelines on pet care. Here stateside it's the long game for us.
Just put in petleaf.com ; okay site, nice to see.
Acquired LeafCafe
Very Nice name !!
I’ve tried to obtain that in “hub” but the owner has opened my emails both times without even a reply :( it’s actually annoying to be ignored when trying to make a purchase.
https://www.pressherald.com/2017/01...w-legal-in-maine-heres-what-you-need-to-know/
Despite approval on 2016 ballot measures the market doesn't expect to see a recreational policy in place until 2019 or 2020.
Maine has " social clubs ". Where they are in the permitting process who knows. But here is a substantive validated legal market for Cafe domains. Once these ideas spread one may see this trend continue.
The article goes into " craft " growers. This is where I see the real potential and demand for real volumes of domains and competitive both growing qualities and branding needed to garnish $20 + a gram on retail. Think bar ( rack ) whiskey vs. Crown Royal ; or Oban
I don't follow California as a rule, being midwest and northeast person. Plus one draws a line on time. But I believe theirs many counties going with craft or micro provisions. Folks how large? LA county is projected to have more canna sales than the entire state of Colorado.
