Search "car domains" from the home page.

First post is from 2015.
Next 3 post are from the same person for the same domain.
4th post is from 2009.
.. more old, irrelevant carp.

Same results searching "car domains" from market place.

Hello,

Our search feature is working as expected, but it could certainly be improved. Search technology is very complex, and that is why Google's search technology is so useful.

Our search's default is set to return the most relevant results, which bases the results it shows on many factors without too much emphasis on age. In order to specify different search criteria, such as "show most recent results first" or "show marketplace listings only," the Advanced Search option must be used:
Typically, if you can't find what you're looking for that way (or you want a quicker way to search), then we recommend that you use Google to search NamePros as follows:
  • Enter this into Google and change "keyword" to what you're looking for such as "car domains":
    • site:namepros.com "keyword"
    • site:namepros.com keyword
  • Examples:
    • site:namepros.com "car domains"
    • site:namepros.com car domains

We are working to extend the search capability of the marketplace, but the discussion search capability can't be improved much more by us; we have to wait for the search-related technologies that we use to advance, specifically Elasticsearch and XenForo.

Our Advanced Search feature takes a little longer to configure, but you can usually find anything you need by configuring it according to what you want to find. Once you perform an Advanced Search, you can bookmark the resulting page for future use.

We hope that helps.

Thanks, I know how to use google. How can you say NP search is working as expected when the results are incomplete and stale?

Lots of options to fix this, Algolia, Elastic, Solar.

We use Elasticsearch, but XenForo is horrible about indexing and sorting data properly. It's working as they designed it, but it needs to be reworked at some point.
