Hi y'all,

Here's some solid proof that hand registration is not dead! Background: I write a lot of poetry and yesterday another poet appreciated my post on Instagram... I noticed both of us write a lot of 2 liners... So today morning I had an idea about separating my 2 liners to another site and maybe post even memorable quotes and poems by others I admire... I checked for "couplets" and other words not even thinking that this might be available... When I finally checked I found to my shock that both 2liner.com and 2liners.com were available!! I grabbed them immediately after quickly checking on the search volume stats which I was sure had to be considerable. 😜

Also note how this is an excellent example where the number gets more hits than the word... Not only does "two liner" and "two liners" get lesser searches but unsurprisingly twoliner.com and twoliners.com are both taken!

Just wanted to spread some motivation around!! The lesson I feel is to always keep an open eye and mind. Good luck hunting them down.

warmest regards,
Anita

To say that hand regging is dead is the same as saying there is no XXX. Domaining would be dead - where would all the "babies" come from? :xf.smile:

I wouldn't ever say hand reg is dead. Domaining isn't all about expired lists there are always new terms, technologies and ideas to go with.

Agreed. One of our community members @DnFolk does it pretty regularly with brandable domain names :)

Yep agreed. But I was not really pin pointing brandables... That's a given that most of those will be hand regs and creativity and innovation go hand in hand with that sector. The hand regs I meant to highlight are the exact match .COMs that many assume should have been taken. Newcomers fret that they are late to the party... I used to fret too since I took up domaining seriously only a few years back... but with hard work and research :bookworm: and a bit of luck thrown in we can still pick up some gems IMHO. :angelic:

PS. I would like to credit my relentlessness to @Rick Schwartz who taught me not to assume anything and has written many articles about how good .COMs are still available.

That is a good reminder for those that are motivated and patient that decent hand regs can be unearthed.

All domains were at a point in time hand registered. Future Tech related domains have to be hand registered.

Dropped domains and hand regs may be worth something and I’m happy you were able to hand reg something that means something to you and has some traffic but until these are sold this particular event doesn’t establish anything.

Indeed if you manage to develop them into sites (versus sell them) it would establish that there’s no need to pay $2395 / $2595 for twoliner / twoliners from HugeDomains which would actually be contrary to the point I think you’re trying to make - it would mean that an end user might just want to hand reg something similar versus pony up the money for the real thing.

I'll be the first to agree that hand registered names can be sold for good profit, but I'm just not sure how this example illustrates that.

Thanks for sharing your experience, though.

There could be many such EMD available with good search volume but market needs brand touch along with searches. Like i got RiftFree.com which has good search volumes and estibot priced it at $2200 but it doesn't looks as if it can represent some business though have got traffic.
So in my opinion, it must have brand attraction along with search volume which can fetch some nice profit.
I mean i have few more hand reg like TheEtymology, TheEntomology, ThePhonology following the pattern of 'The' names (Tech terminology with THE), these names to have somewhat brand value and nice traffic too.... IMO

You can still find good names that are unregistered, if you a development plan in mind.
But they are not very likely to have resale value.
Sometimes I am surprised at all that is registered, but also what isn't.

The obvious answer is, BB, BP & others. If you don't see them, doesn't mean they don't occur.

Many NPers included, & I love it, happy for them..

Edit: it happens on daily basis too.. mostly .com of course.

Well, I know for sure it wasn't dead 2 years ago when I hand reg'd a name for $8.37 and sold it this week for $10k

I don't consider this to be a good handreg and even worse it has a number. I could understand if it was one liners but two liners? Didn't even know two liners was a thing. Come to find out three liners is a thing to and its also available to handreg.

I apologize in advance if I'm being to harsh with my thoughts.

I agree you can still find some good hand reggs here and there but you should follow new and future trends for that.

I think that is great thinking outside the box, and fact is , if someone has not heard of two liners, someone else has.

Finding hand reg's in niches is still possible, but flipping them is a big ask.
One man's gold couldn't be a nother man's dust.

Pointless thread Unless you sell this Domain for atleast $XXX.

Keep in mind, there are also many old trends that are more popular at different times. Here is an example - employee benefits, HSA are newish, new benefits are being added, new insurance trends. But this applies everywhere , in every industry related to servicing people, look for what domainers are not typically looking for.

Here is an example: Over the last several years Green Transportation pushes (in the US) have lead some cities to push employee benefits e.g. parking and commuter benefits. Cities like San Fran require companies to offer these benefits - other big cities as well - available nationwide. I had reged several names related to parking and transportation - one I sold in Feb of this year for 2650. the name is Park/ Cheep/ com (mis-spell cheap +makes good brand) (please dont link this companies name to our thread accidentally, tks).

But that was a good example anyway.

(Tip maybe?, take a look at all those domains you have for domain parking - see if any apply to vehicles as well.)

Best of luck all,
Brian
