Believe, you get more responses if it was 4 figures sales every month!

Also, how much you spend to make this figure!

Did have a five figure year basically doubled my investment..but that was when I was way more active!!!

I mean total income in 5 figures from domaining every month, it may be by selling multiple domains

Some months might be off, but in average for 2018 - yes. Portfolio size is around 1400 names. Hope to double within a year.

Is that 5 figures profit? You pay a lot for your domains also.

One decent sale can 'average' 5 figs in 7 months. And, if you do so, is this from your website were 'none' of the links work? Just asking.

Nowhere near that figure but receive steady/consistent profit each month.
= me happy!

Actually, no it is not from one sale.

I am well-diversified. My sales are in 1500 to 22500 range for the year mostly, around 20 in total. The sales are from a) direct inbound; b) Afternic; c) Brandroot, Brandpa, Brandbucket; d) Sedo.

Had just one month out of 7 with 4 digit sales total.

None has come from the website where links don't work :) Working on storefront that will have working links.

Thanks for asking )

Good question. The purchase cost for all names sold in 2018 would be below $1.5K including even renewals for those. Cost to renew all the names I have in portfolio is around $10K, around $6K attributable to the 7 months. Average commission has been around 15% (from 0% for the inbound to 35% at brandable markets). So I still have netted just around $10K +/- 5% a month after costs, excluding my own time.

This excludes the sales to other NP members, where I am ok with much lower margins.

I had a few 5 fig months this year I also went 3 weeks with out a sale. I'm not full time either. I expect better results when I go back fulltime.

@hawkeye

See the screenshot from Afternic panel. 6 sales YTD for gross of $38,298 and net of $31,538. Plus another $1250 net from GD broker, resulting in almost $40K gross/$33K net from 7 transactions from GD/AN this year.

$20K+ from 9 sales at brandable markets gross (around $14K+ net)

$15K gross/net from Sedo Brokerage

$14K gross/net from direct inbound

$3K gross and $1.5K net from NP sales

Total of $92K+ gross, $78K net over 7 months.

Gr8, many congratulations. Not many people would actually reveal that info. Thanks.

Since when did you start investing in domains?

Yes.

My answers from another thread:
Most of my sales come from about 2,500 domains that I've acquired slowly over many years. I have 20,000 domains, but the rest are lower quality that sell for three figures.
On an annual average:
I sell one domain a week for four figures.
I sell one domain a month for five figures.
I sell one domain a year for six figures.

Thank you.

I have owned valuable names for over 10 years, but for my own ideas and plans.

I have been more active buying and selling since 2015.

@Recons.Com,

Thanks for sharing this info and sharing some of your recent purchases in other thread. This way others can have motivation and get insights.

I noticed that some of your recent purchases redirect to a news site. Are you checking some stats on those before you put them for sale or there is another reason behind...

Also you mentioned that acquisition cost for the sold 20 names is lower than 1.5 k , if you done this with average acquisition cost 75 , hands down my friend...

Thanks

I have listed most of the names on Afternic and Sedo, but forward them to class.com for now until I am done with the storefront website. Then basically each of them will have landing page there. No, I am not checking stats per each, but generally the quality of names I select generate 0.3 visits per day per name in average (i.e. 10 visits per name per month).

For most domains, it is not their traffic that drives the value. It is their branding potential.

Cost: Most of the $1.5K cost was for 4L names and one dictionary word (noble/metal). And some of those sold 4Ls were low cost only because I acquired them in large batches (for example, one transaction for 64 names).

For the names that sold in $1.5K-4K region, costs were $13 to very low $xxx plus renewals.

Since most will sell 0.5% to 2% of their portfolio in a given year, it is really important to keep acquisition costs under control and also not to price your names in $xxx (unless you don't plan to renew).

Also cost of the sold names is not the whole picture. For example, to be able to sell 4-5 LLLL.coms a year at good prices, I have to buy 220+ of those, meaning I have $100K+ cash tied up in them (opportunity cost), plus around $2K has to be spent renewing them.

I also don't acquire names with the plan to drop, as I value my time higher. I buy keepers and of course do prune my holdings, but only based on new knowledge and learning curve.

I am on buying spree right now, as doubling my portfolio in a year means getting around 5 names a day on average.

20000 names on what tld?
It was 90% .com until I discovered my profitable niche. Nowadays, I'm 90% ccTLDs.

Do you renew these 20000 names?
Yes, with 4 years of reexamining every domain at renewal time to refine (drop the garbage). Nowadays, I renew 99% without scrutiny.

Which platform brings you the sales?
Direct: landing page with a contact form.

Approx Total investment ?
Confessedly, I've never totaled it. The goal was to (at least) break even until I stopped buying, then reap the benefits, which is where I am nowadays.

Can you share the link to your portfolio to see what type of names you've invested in?

I cast my vote in the survey by stating, 'no, I am not making consistent 5 figures every month'.

My portfolio currently stands at about 300 names almost all of the dot coms, with a few dot orgs, and I let close to 100 expire since the beginning of the year. It breaks my heart that since some of them were listed at Sedo, occasionally I get an email from them letting me know of an offer for one of my previously owned names...

Since it has been mentioned on this thread, I'd like to ask what defines a full time domainer? Is it making outbound calls? Attending domain conferences? What differentiates them? If anyone has tips on this with the eye towards more consistent domain sales at prices that would merit being listed at the dnjournal weekly sales chart, please share your tips.
Thank you!

I understand "full time" in this context as either spending close to 40 hours a week and/or being the primary activity of the person.
