Hello everyone! As a beginner in domain flipping I thought this question as the most common question of all newbies So I started a thread ☺️. So as the thread name describes What metrics should we look before hand registering a domain except its name? According to my experience what I did was searched a short memorable domain and then I checked for appraisal and bought it, which I was unable to sell. So we should not only focus on appraisals. So lets discuss what other metrics makes a domain so demandable that we should focus on before registration? Thanks..

I follow trends. Whether tech, crypto or others.

Remember that most all high value .com domains are taken. That is why I look for opportunities in emerging markets.

Exactly. Even before you register a name, do the research. Check the news, think about upcoming trends in specific niches and DONT rely solely on an appraisal.

I believe this may be the way I go. Maybe the only way to go since all of the high value ones are taken?

I also like to check for strong prefix and suffix to go with keyword.
You can check sales on namebio.com,dnpric.es,or dnjournal.com

After choosing a trend how do you look up for domains? Do you search that directly in GoDaddy or other marketplaces?

Can you explain it with an example to have an idea how do you do it? How will I know if the domain has strong prefix and suffix?

You can go to namebio and insert the word in the search.
Select your preference at the start,at the end, exact, prefix,or suffix.
There are also other options to select such as ext. or catagory.
It will give you a list of sales and how many sale with the keyword, prefix,or suffix.
I consider strong in the hundreds of reported sales not like 10 or 20 sales.

But this still does not mean that your name will sell.:xf.wink:

When looking for available names with a keyword, I start at the Domain Name Search Site: https://instantdomainsearch.com/ - type in your keyword and hit search. If it says "Buy" in green, then it is usually available (although sometimes its wrong and the name is already taken). To see more related names with that keyword, click on Generator. Good luck!

i would spend a lot of time researching what sells and what doesn't before hand registering anything

don't go by what is for sale but what has sold

I then identify keywords, then search for availability. I have said before, there is an artistry to registering attractive keyword combinations. I have a list of popular generic connector words.

For example:
If crypto is the main trending keyword I will try adding world, market, coin, token and so on.

Hope that helps a little.
