@urljunky -

Thanks!

That is exactly what I was looking for was a gauge to indicate where we are in the processing window (timeline).

I wish there were a real-time date that was kept on our Dashboard to let us know what date they are working on as they progress through the submissions.

I don't mind waiting in line - I just like knowing how long the wait is to get on the ride. :xf.wink:

@BrandCougar and others......... I don't know the exact cause of the slowdown but I do know that one of their key employees is on vacation and I have a feeling that is challenging the remaining staff.

So sorry for the delays and thanks for your patience! :hungry:(y):glasses:

purchased a published domain but it went to pending editorial when i submitted listing ? strange

@namefork -

I had that too recently.

After clicking on the orange "Publish" button, it sat in the pending editorial stage, then 48 hours later it auto-published and is now live on the site.

And yet I've had others that went straight to live after clicking on the orange "Publish" button.

No identifiable pattern to why one went to pending editorial and the others went directly live.

Quick update...

I had submissions reviewed last night through to April 19th (last Thursday).

They appear to be catching up and their Review Window is currently running at 5-6 days.

Is there any way to see how well certain domains are selling? For example 4L, 5L, .io .co and so on? Any reports available?

First Try!!!

I'm using Brandbucket now for the first time. Just submitted a handful of names and got 3 accepted.

They must make a killing charging $1 for simply accepting and rejecting names, plus $10 listing fee.
You're basically paying a registration fee for domain again lol.

And I think the 30% commission is huge!

But if sales happen more frequently than other marketplaces then I may grow into being ok with the hefty fees.

Atleast places like BB presents your name well...and each name is given individualized thought/attention.
While at UNIreg etc... your name is unknown to brokers and then negotiation looks like you're talking with robots. So I guess you pay more for more.

Let's wait and see how i do.

They don’t charge $10 to list it’s just the $1 assessment fee.

What date did you open your BB account?

If in the past 12 months, you likely are on the new Growth Program model. This model charges you $1 per submit (1 Credit) and the Listing Fee is $0 (no charge).

If you have an older account and have not converted it over the the new Growth Program, the you might find a $10 Listing Fee assigned.

Fortunately, the $10 Listing Fee went away with the Dodo Bird.

At one point they were double dipping (charging for both) back in early 2017, but made the smart decision to drop the $10 Listing Fee altogether thankfully.

BTW - the new Growth Program is terrific. A very efficient model for sampling names and learning BB's taste for acceptance. A smart strategic move on their part.

Just to add a few fine points on what others have said.

All sellers who created accounts after January 2017 are automatically enrolled in the Growth Program. Sellers who created accounts before January 2017 may opt into the Growth program by sending an email to, [email protected], and almost all active sellers have done so.

In the old setup, submissions were free, but you could only submit names you already owned. If a name was accepted you had the option to publish it for a $10 fee.

The advantage of the Growth Program is you can submit any name for review for $1 - even if you don't own it. If the name is accepted, they you have the option to pay a $9 publishing fee. Total cost = $10 ($1 + $9) same as before.

However, in late 2017, BrandBucket temporarily suspended the publishing fee. They had intended for it to end in Jan 2018 however, the response has been so positive it has continued. But it won't last forever.

In 2014-2015, BB had a system whereby sellers could rate rejected names. If you rated 100 you got credit for a free listing. But this only lasted for about a year, then the $10 fees were back on for about 3 years.

So take advantage of the current situation, while it lasts!

I registered two days now. I saw 10 free credits to submit names. But I see $10 listing fee for each name. I haven't been lead to pay it yet. The current status is "Pending Editorial".

I emailed the about the growth program and waiting on a reply..
But based on my research, the program seems to fit if you haven't registered a name yet..

It would be great to have a $0 listing fee.
30% commission $1 submissions is a huge haul already. Greed?.

Hopefully they skip this fee..I think a submission fee and a huge 30% commission is the highers out of all other platforms already. But, If I find more success at BB then maybe it will be worth it.

Ah yes, you've mentioned something that I forgot.
When you open an account at BB you get 10 free credits

So in theory a person could submit their first 10 names and get them all accepted and published for free.
Wouldn't that be nice :)

@Keith DeBoer -

Thanks for the note on the Listing Fee being $0 as "temporary".

Respectfully - if BB management were to reinstate the $10 Listing Fee, it would be a damn shame!

The current model of $1 to submit with no listing fee is a smart strategic move on their part and a draw for many of us to participate on the site. It is a simple sampling model that works.

To reinstate the $10 listing fee while maintaining the $1 to submit would be double dipping and a cause for many of us to drop and walk from the site.

Why ruin a good thing?

Keith - I have a great regard for how you personally conduct yourself and operate (as an individual). Solid Respect. Period. No question you act in good faith, are generous with your time and a person I respect.

But I have to be honest - reinstating the double dipping fee structure by BB would cause even me to hit the B.S. button on BB as this would insult the supplier base and (once again) cripple supplier rapport, not to mention cash flow. Cash flow that is currently being used to expand inventory with the site.

The $10 Listing Fee SUCKED. A crappy idea that was implemented when Michael Krell stepped in temporarily as Managing Director. Not a little, not kinda, not well sort of - I mean full out, entirely, rock solid, outright SUCKED.

Apologize for the rant. But I passionately believe the current model works and would be a horrible move to reinstate it.

I am new to BB, but I have to agree with you. I love the platform so far, but I smell greed when it comes to that $10 listing fee. It's over-reaching. They already have the industry highest commission rate from what I see. and you get $1 for every submission. That's alot of money for income and marketing and improvements...

To charge $10 again is like registering a name again. They are not a registrar.

So they want $1 for every domain, plus $10 registration fee, Plus 30% commission rate?
And not to mention... we pay a minimum of $100 for each logo.

Another challenge is that we have to renew domains monthly too. So you have to find money fir that and then an extra $11 for each of those names if they get approved on BB.

Note:
Please never bring back that listing fee!!!
I am happy to hear that it's no longer required.
Remove it from your sites wording too.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the recognition, honesty and feedback.

BB has had a $10 publishing for several years and despite the free publishing periods (as I explained above) it's always been $10 to publish. No more no less.

And that doesn't change with the Growth Program. It's $1 to review and $9 to publish. Total $10. Its $10 to list a domain on the old program or the Growth Program.

Yes, BB get's a $1 to have a team of people review and evaluate a rejected name but believe me BB is losing money on that deal :)

The benefit of the $1 fee is for the sellers. Here's why:

Cash expenditure comparison for hand regging domains during the current "free listing" period:

OLD SYSTEM
100 handregged names submitted
15 accepted (15%)
Registration fees: 100 X $9 = $900
Of course you can sell your rejected names
but there is an initial cash outlay of $60 per published name

GROWTH PROGRAM
100 submitted
15 accepted (15%)
Registration fees: 15 X 9 = $135
BrandBucket submission fees: 100 X $1 = $100
Total cash outlay of $235 or $15.66 per published name
and there are no rejected names to liquidate.

The savings is still huge when you factor in the publishing fee (see below). Sellers keep a ton more money in their pocket under the new, Growth Program in spite of the $1 fee.

If the publishing fee comes back. This is how the comparison looks:

OLD PROGRAM
100 submitted
15 accepted (15%)
Registration fees: 100 X $9 = $900
BrandBucket listing fees: 15 X $10 = $150
Total: $1050
$70 per published name

GROWTH PROGRAM
100 submitted
15 accepted (15%)
Registration fees: 15 X $9 = $135
BrandBucket submission fees: 100 X $1 = $100
BrandBucket listing fees: 15 X $9 = $135
Total: $370
$24.67 per published name

The fee is currently waived for all BB sellers on the Growth Program. If you joined BB before Jan 2017 than you need to send an email to [email protected] and ask to have your acct switched over. Don't worry it's free!

Here is the original announcement sent to all BB sellers via email in Jan 2017:

Introducing the BrandBucket Seller Growth Program
In our continuing efforts to improve seller experience, we are thrilled to announce the new BrandBucket Seller Growth Program. This opt-in program is aimed at reducing costs for sellers by eliminating the need to register domains prior to submitting them to our marketplace. As a seller, you can obtain an "appraisal" on submissions which will help you decide whether to purchase a domain. By not having to pay registration fees on names that are not accepted, your overall costs will decrease.

Here are the key features:

  • Submit unregistered names. You register only the names that are accepted.
  • $1 appraisal fee per submitted domain.
  • $9 listing fee per accepted domains.
  • $50 in initial credits if you sign up by January 12th.
To see exactly how much the Growth Program can save you, check out this cost calculator that will show the cost savings based on your current investing strategy on BrandBucket.

To get started with the Growth Program, email [email protected] and we will be happy to change your account and add 50 free credits* if you sign up by January 12th. Once you have made the switch, we would love hear your feedback to see how the program is working for you.
*Note: At present, you get 10 free credits, instead of 50, when you sign up

For more information, download this Growth Program document that discusses the program in more detail. As always, if you have any additional questions, feel free to email: [email protected].

Here's to a fruitful 2017!

Your experience with a site largely is based on the individuals you have contact with.

I admit I am an avid fan of the new Growth Program. Spot on, outright, EXCELLENT program.

But, the following individuals deserve a shout out...

Julia - each and every communication with this person - top notch! Even on the topics that might have been frustrating for me and/or difficult to resolve, this person maintains a calm professional tone with each communication.

Christine - clear and concise with instructions and also inviting to work with. Plus, an email from her is $$, so always nice to hear from Christine asking for you to transfer a name.

Keith - @Keith DeBoer - makes an honest effort to respond timely and not only answer your question, but provides additional details / insight. The above posts are reflective of his passion for providing help.

I like conducting business face to face - yes - old school type guy. I like a handshake and looking someone straight in the eye when conducting business.

And I will also add that I think there are many things that BB could improve.

But, the above (3) individuals deserve Kudos for the way they conduct business as they add value to your experience with BB.

I think it would be nice if it were possible to not have a public BrandBucket page. Or at least do as Brandpa and make the URL a random one that is difficult to find.
