discuss How about hyphenated names? Any secrets?

I was wondering if anyone is entering into the hyphenated domain name investments.

I saw a name D-Banking.com which I thought was solid. What do you think here? Does the hyphen add value or decreases it in such cases?

With new gTLDs all around, don't you think hyphenated names become even less valuable?

Is anyone having success with hyphenated names?

I got the idea after noticing (Carefinders . com on auction at Godaddy with 6 bidders at $9+k with time extend to next bid at $10k..btw it's over now)

It's taken in . net, co, org, blah blah blah

Best part in my choice and why.......YES it's hyphenated but GET this!

I looked up the Hyphenated .net & .org thinking..yea I'm sure these are just sitting there unregd......

Come to find out...I was SURPISED

HYPHENATED .net REG since 2003 say what...

HYPHENATED .org REG since 2010 say what....

I've neverrr seen this done on any hyphen name.....and yet the - DOT COM is available and the non hyphen is going for $10k as I write this?

Why Yes I'll take it and happily did!

Thoughts anyone?? Or am I just being loony ?

I've sold 3 '-' domains last year, out of around 25 I've owned, they are harder to sell than the non'-' but they are also cheaper to acquire. If you have a lot of end users for that combination and a lot of cctlds are taken, probably you could try some of them. One of the one's I've sold was pink-app.com, now redirecting to pink.io app. I can give you some other examples for which I had inquiries or discussions with potential buyers, like e-deposit, equity-group, red-parrot. I own around 30 of them right know and I know for sure I could sell a few of them this year, so I will need to buy a few more but I will need to make sure I will buy the right one's as well.

Actually I have sold N-N .com here on NP for $3k about 6 months ago.

Those are different category of names altogether, although with hyphens.

In 2017 with Namebio statistics in .com there were 1057 domain sales involving hyphens, representing 1.6% of total sales. In .net it was 96 hyphenated domain name sales, or 2.6%. Interestingly in .org it was 223 hyphenated domain names sold, representing 6.4% of all .org sales in Namebio that year.

I only ever see one hyphen domain name advertised on a regular basis. The domain is Bio-Oil and I think it was done due to the fact the double O's biooil don't look too flash. Do you ever see a hyphen name in the wild?
