I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

He'd bid up that high for names?
He was very aggressive certain weeks in the aftermarkets for a certain period when he was building his .ca portfolio, He amassed a huge portfolio, at great expense for sure. It's a great domain, but almost 4xxx, in a wholesale setting that's rich.

Assuming this is a valid auction with an actual winner, then it's probably a company that bought it and can use the BMS acronym. That way it's all a promotional write-off and everyone's happy.

But I agree, if this was purchased solely for resale, then it's very rich.

Given the venue, and timing it’s probanly two heavy hitters going after a really nice set of letters, or maybe someone reached out, and got something done beforehand. I just haven’t for seen that level of expertise from companies, as they would need to sign up to multiples dropcatchers to be guaranteed to get it beforehand.

I actually sold A.D. either a LN or NL a few years ago without any issues. He paid either PayPal or EMT and I pushed to his Myid account. He sent me a great offer on it, I accepted it. I don’t know how or why some people change for the worst.

They have "people" who do that for them.

I found when the "money tree starts to die", people become desparate..kind of your income should be greater than your overhead..
Just my experience..

We were watching a lot of LLL.ca names… and one day they were all gone. All. So searched and saw that every single previously available name had been picked up over the course of one (maybe two) days.

Fast forward to one of numerous discussions with Adam to learn that he had one day just simply decided to buy them. All. At once.

in 2004 I decided to cherry pick 500 of the best lll combos left at the time - and I eventually let a bunch of those go too. I think when Adam bought the rest of them up, there were still almost 4500 of them available, alot of crappy ones. And he didn't keep them for too long, let a lot go a year or two later. I thought he was a bit crazy because you'd have to sell one a month at $5K each to begin to turn a profit and I didn't think that would happen with those crappy lll combos... Hopefully what he decided to keep was good enough to eventually break even.

This is my Fault as I forgot to disable auto renewal on two .ca domains at Godaddy.....

Godaddy is such a rip off $19.99 per .ca renewal, the worst pricing in the market for big name registrars! $10 more than most I deal with, and the only way godaddy will give you similar pricing is if you pay extra to be apart of their Domain Club, just a marketing scam. I really don’t see how people flock to them for there domain management?

I have been moving my domains away for the last year but didn’t catch these two!

I purchased domain club and the .ca's are still 11.99 but they gave me 10.99 on my last batch for some reason.

I have domain club as well. I thought the last time, they charged me around $12usd. I could be wrong tho.

I'm currently with namespro and get a discount at around $11cad each. I used to pay $9.xx but they recently raised their rates

Yes slowly moving my domains for GD (and others) to namespro.ca...should have did it long ago, would have saved thousands on exchange rates! Probably never again see a Canadian dollar at par (or near par ) with the US.

Love selling at US exchange but hate buying at Canadian... lol

I really like GD's interface compared to namespro. namespro's interface seems like I'm logged in using netscape 2.0 on my old 486.

I could probably start moving my .com domains over to them too. I'd have to see whos cheaper.

Costco charges a membership, parking lots are full. There is no reason you have to stay at godaddy, it's not like you don't have choice of a dozen other registers, your barrier to entry is just a few clicks. Many people use promos, then forget to transfer out, but you have to understand that is just good marketing on their part, and you did what they were hoping you would do.

Best thing to do is pick one partner, and go all in with them, and they will give you volume discounts, if your spread thin all over, your not going to get leverage.

even $10.99 after you pay the "Domain Club" fees and sweet talk them you get the same price joe blow gets walking in off the street at some other registrars, and your always getting upsells plus your yearly "Domain Club" fees.

just my opinion

Namesilo has well and truly become my favourite registrar, by a significant margin. Though their UI is dated, it's extremely functional and user-friendly. They consistently offer the best prices in the market (regularly offering further discounts on their already fair prices), and I've never had an issue with them. If you haven't dealt with them before, I'd recommend giving them a whirl.

Pay more at eNom but have a personal rep. Found Rebel last year rescuing a stolen name for a client and took advantage of a CAD $1.00 offer that pops up every now and then…

I have a number of domains with Rebel for exactly this reason. Fantastic promos when they come around. I find their UX a bit clunky when trying to update multiple domains, however.

Just remember to call and disable their locked auto-renew or your CC will be in for a nice surprise.

Sneaky. Thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to look into this.

Yes. It's in their TOS, which we all read word for word, right?

"Unless otherwise specified, each Rebel.com service is for a one-year initial term and is automatically renewed thereafter for successive one-year terms."

I haven't ever called to enquire as you've said, but any renewal attempt would fail as we pull payment methods off sites as soon as a transaction is complete.

I'd also like to say that they were outstanding in their assistance with the stolen domain.
