XR can be X Reality or Extended Reality.

Either way it describes the spectrum just like mixed reality.

Been looking around and shopping for a while now, saw many companies choosing to rebrand to xr or just starting with xr in their names..

Those are only some of my findings that are already developed (there are many more undeveloped by major companies like unity/sony etc..)

Tbh the more I think about it there is a very relevant need for an umbrella term.

I was skeptical at first but companies offering services/experiences in both the VR/AR field need a term that suggests they offer more than just the one reality service/product.

When you see some companies who were previously branding with just VR or AR switching their brand to XR it does make sense.

Individual VR and AR brands will still hold their value, but XR does offer certain companies a wider field of branding if the company in question plans to offer more than singular VR or AR moving forwards.

Yes it will have a long way to go to reach public adoption. But seeming some companies are already starting to switch, it is not an impossible scenario.

They are using the .co but really should try to get the .com.

.co is a good choice imo when the .com is gone, but you will always look second best and it will severly limit the global reach and perception of the brand.

Now I am not attacking .co for those of you who like it. But it never can replace a .com.
