Pot is so 80's. I cant find any shops/clubs places to buy weed in google seach with pot.
Don't ever see any shops with that name. I even have a domain starts with pot in .com I am dropping
GanjaExpress.ca is good but ganja is not a good term to use. Guy from Chile always asking me for ganja
Canna is my favorite word and grow.

A lot of people don't know how to spell mrihuianna or cananbis :xf.laugh:

PS. Forget 420 because the average person for sure does not make that connection. Until a member made me aware of it I had no clue it was connected. Then again I don't smoke it so I had no reason to know
You maybe be right about the average person not knowing how to spell but with Google "auto correct" (and others)that becoming less of a problem.

My belief is that the "end user" (owners who develop websites) know how to spell it and will have the words in their content for SEO reasons! For instance a few of the big players that rank for marijuana/cannabis searches like "High times" "herb.co" "leafly.com" use those keywords..

Yes "420"and "Ganja" may be less popular keywords but they still get searches
https://www.google.ca/search?source.....0...1.1.64.psy-ab..0.3.393....0.u2fhiLSBIxk

https://www.google.ca/search?ei=Tqu...64.psy-ab..0.5.701...0i131i67k1.0.MHt2Zzhhh_g

Thinking anything "medical marijuana"related is one of the keyword that going to sell ..
Anyway just my thoughts..

Pot.com - for all your Medical Marijuana (Cannabis) needs.

Thats all you need for google and seo and still the best and easiest address for type ins.
There is a reason it fetched a massive price.

Not trying to argue guys but in domaining short is king and everyone knows how to spell pot.

I'll buy as many pot names as I can think of before I buy marijuana.

It's a personal decision but I guess in the end what matters is what sells so the sales statistics will be a tell all.

Question - is there a way to see how much was paid for a caught .ca? Curious to know how much yo.ca went for last week.

Cheers!

It went for around $5800. Just under $6000.
I was in auction for it but I didn’t go any higher than $4500.

Cheers!

Fantastic - thank you. Still a decent price for the buyer, though I don't blame you for stepping out beyond 4.5! What's the best website to participate in the auctions through?

Nice sale Alcy

I see our prime minister, Junior Pierre, has moved the date of legalizing weed to august at the earliest
https://globalnews.ca/news/4030429/recreational-marijuana-canada-sale-delay-august/

To stay on topic, has anyone had any inquiries or increased activity on weed and growing related names?

Probably 35% of my portfolio is based on agricultural products etc

Rejected a $50 offer for sweetleaf yesterday. I countered with $12500 and he hasn't got back to me yet.

I’m guessing over 5K easily. Although I’m not sure which is better to own.Yr or Yo. I would say yo.

Not sure either has a huge set of applications..... personally I would pass on both

i learned setting my prices or hopes too high for .ca domains results in no sales at all.

whats sweetleaf again? that it should cmd 7k?

Natural stevia based sweetener would be a prime use. In the right circumstances it can comand a 7.5k price but we have to remember these are .ca's and the odd high sales we see are flukes rather than the norm.

I paid 5k for a 3 letter.ca in 2006 so they can fetch money when someone needs them.

Guess, you are not a "Young and Restless" fan.. lol

If I had the extra "cash", I would try to buy..thinking as a long term investment would be worth it..

How do you convince an enduser (or the Canadian business class in general) that your commodity has value if you let it go cheap?
I don't need to sell that name this year.
My holding costs are around $2500, I'll sell one or two names to cover it.

YO and YR and any other 2l.ca are liquid domains. Need cash? Same day sale.

thats the idea then. sell some names to cover renewing rest of them.... and some profit too if you can of course..

so if that plan is working out for you every year that's great. if not, well.. then maybe there is need for new plan. including lowering price.

That plan works well. It didn't always, but something has changed in our market in the last 15-18 months. Inquiries are on the rise (my portfolio is better than it was TBH). I get inquiries with $1000 offers that I used to get $400 offers on. They still spook when I quote 5 figures back, lol!

I still need to hustle to sell something to cover my cost. Canadians still have a strong tendency to see .ca as a discount brand.

If I have a strong word to the left of the dot that 5-6 or more companies can use, then I got MOJO. The more hardball I play with my prices, the less likely the enduser gets what they want for the price they want to pay. That creates scarcity. Scarcity creates demand. Demand drives prices.

Obviously I'm doing that on a Micro scale, but it has an effect over time. The guy that I send packing then comes for your name and knows that he has to offer more or his experience with me will be repeated.

Sorry for the wall of text, I can get going sometimes, lol!:xf.smile:

well said.

but this isn't just about .ca and canadians. most of our endusers.. worldwide.. see anything other than .com as discount secondary extension.

I wish we could, but I no more see any of us being able to change their minds about that... not for .ca nor for any other non .com extensions

imo

cheers
