A couple of times now I've had a thread I started in the news section removed. (First time in a while I thikn though)

It isn't particularly a big deal .. but just a little confusing since each time I try to post a factual empirical/data driven (non-opinionated) title as well as make sure the content also focuses on facts and well .. for lack of a better term .. NEWS! lol

So I was rather surprised to my thread discussing a fact, moved to "reviews"
https://www.namepros.com/threads/godaddy-no-longer-displaying-valuation-appraisals.1063927/

GoDaddy removed "Appraisals/Valuations" .. it's not an opinion .. or a review .. it's a fact .. and important news to domainers who use that tool when buying domains and/or count on others seeing it for domains they sell.

I'm guessing these kinds of decisions can be fluid .. but I just really didn't get this one .. I'm not mad .. but just confused/curious .. figured a little light shed could help myself and others figure out what to do in the future.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Generally, anything about a specific product or service is moved to reviews or advertising board except in certain circumstances. However, that's probably not a thread I would have moved to reviews but a moderator decided it was close enough to move it (Which I can't say is black and white enough for me to override their decision). If the article was about a new feature (Or addition of a feature), then we'd definitely move it to the Advertising Board or reviews.

Important PSA type of threads might be left in News (exceptions to the "move to Reviews" policy):
Hope that helps,

Generally ... However ... probably not ... close enough ... (Which I can't say is black and white enough for me) ... Advertising Board.
Hope that helps,

Not really Mr Shades-of-Grey! However I generally probably kinda get it close enough! lol

Sigh .. and go figure .. after a year here .. I didn't even know there was an advertising board

Just scoured the main index going in and out .. and only found it on my 2nd pass .. lol .. you guys need to work on an option for those of us who choose, to have all forums uncollapsed in a master list!

Creative! ;)

Ya, it's a little confusing and we don't have an official guide explaining it yet which always does the best job at explaining things. Hopefully we'll have that ready in the near future so we can reference it where it's explained with more examples and clarification.

Just posted the following as I truly think it's important news:
https://www.namepros.com/threads/godaddy-hides-number-of-watchers-for-closeout-listings.1064428/

I think a lot of the frustration comes with the fact that GoDaddy is treated as a single platform at times .. but the fact remains they represent far more than all other auction platforms combined .. so that when something about them does come up .. it has much more significance, relevance and importance to the community.

As someone who has taking time to write things and start discussions and debates and share ideas etc etc etc ... It can be frustrating to see interesting and more importantly "IMPORTANT" discussions shuffled off and hidden away in the "reviews" forum where the fact of the matter is .. nobody will even see it relatively speaking to if it were in news or general.

Alternatively I do understand how you might want to "classify" things so people can find things easier in the future.

One suggestion is maybe to leave things where they are at first .. then once they hit a certain age .. or interest drops and the thread falls to page 3 .. that's when you move it. I know in the past I kinda lost interest a bit because some of my threads were moved to hidden corners of namepros .. and I do understand it was done to keep things structured .. but as an end user .. what the actual effect is we see a decision being made that says "your article isn't important enough for us". And let me be clear that I know that clearly is not your intentions nor reasons .. but it is the actual result even if it isn't the intended one.

Anyhow .. I actually really wanted to post that in General .. as I really think that discussion is a very important one for all domainers who use GD auctions .. but I did hold back and put it in News at least .. lol :)

Excellent idea, that's what I usually do, but other moderators may not be aware of that idea or this thread. I will try to get that included in the official policy so that moderators do that when it makes sense.

We understand that frustration and that's why I try to do your suggestion when I feel it makes sense (The company is large enough for a change like this to be somewhat of a PSA).

"your article isn't important enough for us"
Do you have any other suggestions for how to avoid that because that's not what we're trying to convey, we're just trying to organize things where they belong (According to our consistent procedures). Sometimes, I'll put "Thanks for sharing with the community" as the alert when I move threads so that they know it is still appreciated. Not all moderators do that, though.

And there it goes ... :-/
I've moved it to Domain Expiration and Domain Drop Catching which is a more appropriate section for it.

Thanks for sharing,
