I think there is progress!

Couple of large sales suggest that people may be getting used to the new gTLD's.

Do you agree?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
everyone can easily register a domain for what they want that can be remembered by others.

You missed my question:

Show me a good alternative to my domain Crypto.Life which I simply hand-register a few month ago just for $1.99

Show me a good alternative to my domain Game.Life which I hand-reg. for $36

Show me a good alternative to my

New.Life
Good.Money
Black.Coffee

They will never go mainstream. Mainstream is "com".

However I must admit that some extensions as "club" have great branding potential. But it will be small niche. Nowhere near "mainstream".

Not bothering myself.
Had a few but no longer.
99.99% of my portfolio is in com.

do some brainstorming around your niche, be creative, spend some time and you can find something that will be enough in most cases.

having a word combo like Black.Coffee is nice and something that people can remember but they will struggle to recognize this as an URL so it will not be useful for advertising/marketing.

sooner or later you will have to buy blackcoffee.com and it will be even more expensive then.

Your question rests upon a fallacy. You are asking as if your name was the second best option after .com. It isn't. There are plenty of other extensions including ccTLDs. In fact the .com is undeveloped and could be for sale. But the fact is that it's unused right now and it could be that nobody is even interested in the .com. Then what makes you think someone will be interested in an alternate extension.
And you say it's a recent reg, it's not a landrush registration. And the TLD is almost 4 years old. It's been sitting unregistered for so long and nobody would want it (for $1.99).
You're late to the party, in fact you're probably the last guest while the lights are out already.

I asked a simple question but so far no one has answered it to me.
Why did you write to me a whole page?

On all those domains that I gave an example, I received real low $xx.xxx offers for sale from end users.
But here such a thing is that I am also an end user. And I will start world wide projects this year, hiring a whole team including the project manager.

So I'm the end user, and I'm asking the guy who said "it's easy" to show me good examples in .COM that I can buy right now for $36

If you want a cheap domain you can always find one. That doesn't mean you should try to build a luxury vacation resort in the middle of a swamp. Cryptomkt.club and Cryptomkt.xyz are $1 so what? You really want to spend well into five figures building a business on those? Ditto with whatever.life. But if you spend five figures building on a .whatever what do you really have? A huge waste of money.

I already have all domains that I need for my projects.

I just asked you to show me examples of domains in COM, which could be used for huge international websites, since you said it's very easy.

I need at least 10 - short, beautiful, clear and meaningful domains.

For example, I would take Game.com, but so far there is no chance to do so.
I'm late and I don't have money for it as well as all of you.

I don't need even Game.net Game.org... 2 words... 3 words .coms.. etc etc.
I'll simply use my almost free Game.Life domain and I'll invest 500K in it.

I have not seen any gTLD's about and I doubt I will. Most will fail. Most countries will stick to their local ccTLD and companies that want to be perceived as global will stick to .com. The only thing gTLD's have done is kept the price of a lot of .com's low because people are spending money on gTLDs instead. The fact is that other older TLDs like .travel and .tel have more or less failed. I cannot see what will make the gTLDs any different? One or two may succeed in their niche but I doubt any they will become mainstream.

i would rather spend 50k on a domain and 450k on a website instead of 500k on a website and regfee on a domain.

No one will sell you Game.com for 50K

I can choose only Game.com if I don't choose Game.Life,
... Game.World and Game.Club also will be OK, but I like my domain and I already have it.

I'm end user and this is my choice, this is my money and this is my business.

TL;DR version: the first choice will be the .com. But if nobody has even tried to acquire it why are you assuming somebody wants your name. You're making too many assumptions. Even cryptolife.com is not an outstanding domain imo. There may be a few possible end users but how many. I personally wouldn't pay much for this.
Your other names are better though :)

On all those domains that I gave an example, I received real low $xx.xxx offers for sale from end users.
Also on crypto.life ? Then I don't know what kind of offers you're expecting.

why can you choose only game.com???

game.life is not a single keyword domain. It is two words. There are many two word .com domains available that are good and cost less than 50k.

branding needs to be creative. if the only word you can come up with is the name of your niche you are in trouble.

How do you know that no one tried to buy it?
Who knows who owns it right now?

How do you know if I actually want to sell my domain Crypto.Life ?

game.life is not a single keyword domain. It is two words.

Game.Life is a single keyword domain.

One word - "Game".
"Life" -is extension

word+extension are perfectly fit to each other.

technically yes but from a branding perspective it is two words the person has to remember. People can not assume a domain ends with .life by default.

people already know and assume .com by default so they have to remember only the left side of the dot which is the brand. your brand is game.life

How many words people should remember in these domains: game.net game.org game.info game.biz etc etc.... ??

depends on the point of view and the person but I would say two in many of these cases.

I don't want to add any single word and not a single letter, to the word to the left of the dot, it should be only one main keyword.

And as I wrote from the very beginning Game.Life - is just an example.

I will not say about my real projects until I start them! :)

And I never published these domains anywhere.

Is he really late to the party, seriously? Have you seen his domain portfolio? He has some of the best new gTLDs on this forum, period. Very well structured, reasonable renewals, amazing names, one by one.

'Crypto' keyword was not hot 4 years ago, so argument about it not being in landrush is thus not valid - OP was pretty clever to reg it just when in started to be hot, and all what the rest of us can do is to appreciate it (and in my personal case to envy it, I would LOVE to have this name).

You might want to discuss quality on another new gTLD portfolio if you want to go against them, as here you will definitely fail :) Just imo.

yes, they're becoming mainstream. it still doesnt mean they're "worth" money.

Possible. I haven't seen his portfolio but he has names like black.coffee that make sense. Many domainers have bought names in nTLDs that are quite bland and wouldn't fly even if they were .com.

We all know 'crypto' is trending, it doesn't mean you can stick up any keyword on it and it doesn't mean it's a lasting trend either but that is another issue. There is no scarcity of names like these.
An in fact, while cryptocurrency is new, 'crypto' isn't. The .com was registered in 2013 BTW.

yes, they're becoming mainstream. it still doesnt mean they're "worth" money.
Can we have a definition of 'mainstream' ? For me they are anecdotal but maybe I should define anecdotal ?

Domainers chose to drop these new gTLDs. Not the end-users. The drop represents the power behind the scenes (domainers and investors).

b.t.w. This is my last post. I like 836 number :)
I wish you all The Best!

One of the other issues with gTLDs is that most are in English. The world does not speak just english.
