Bidding on your own names at NameJet...?

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Once in awhile I see people bidding on their own domains at NJ. I would think it would be frowned upon.

Today's seems more obvious than normal. Or am I missing something here?

Airlinejobs.com owned by Andy Booth at Booth.com and high bidder is BQDNcom (James Booth).

3 bids down we see Boothcom as a bidder.

Same thing with MovieZone.com. Owned by Andy Booth in which he currently appears to be the high bidder.

High Bid: $2,475 USD by boothcom

They actually won their own domain airplanesforsale.com. Im guessing it didnt get as high as they wanted so needed to protect it.

Bidder Amount Date
bqdncom $2,001 7/17/2017 12:23 PM
boothcom $1,950 7/17/2017 12:23 PM

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
A lot of interesting info here, for any industry newcomer specifically. AND for NameJet customers who may be bidding on non-expiring auctions but are not yet NamePros members. If they could only be invited here, I'm sure their experience and evidences might be very useful for all including NameJet itself. But how to invite them... are there any related discussions in Chinese part of the net for example (they also have domaining forums and blogs, arent they?), can any Chinese-speaking member check please?

This is really disturbing if true. The HKDN account is extremely active in NameJet auctions. I have bought many names where the price was driven up by HKDN... And I just checked last few days auctions records for short names, and HKDN was among the highest or the second highest bidder for a lot of them.
I saw this as well in several of the auctions I won. Their bid many times was right under reserve, and my bid went over reserve . . .

I have many Chinese domainers as my friends. I will notify them all and would share the link of this thread. Many chinese people bid on NJ and this has to reach their ears.

This is beginning to remind me of the ending scene from Reservoir Dogs. The ending where no one trusts anyone and then everyone shoots everyone.

if a big fish decides to get their own lawyer involved that might open up a big can of worms.

I think they are not aware of this issue.

See the auction of eoeh.com on NameJet.
It's an auction by Oliver.
Russel made a bid of $200, next bid by HKDN of $501, waiting for someone to take the bait :)

Just extrapolate this across all auctions across the world and digital platforms. It isn't just NameJet. You cannot regulate ethics, human behavior and greed. Logging IP addresses can be spoofed and gamed. Nothing to stop shills, they are never going away they will find other slime bags to collude with, they are like hackers. There is no real protection other than not bidding, or buying at reg fee dropping prices, any integrity you believe in is also garbage. Look at the mess hackers cause, a few wreck it for the masses, just a false sense of "security" with blocking software, then they find expoits, and do it again over and over and all the Anti Virus and protection companies make more money. As do the clean-up consultants.

An independent audit will expose the problem, but why should they do it? Who are you anyway to them? Nobody, not even if you are their best customer. Whatever measures or excuses are used, nothing will change. It's all about the money. Once any audit or apology is given then like all history will be forgotten and shrugged off and the mess continues.

All the major auctions ( cars, homes, art, etc) as stated in article if anybody read it I posted in the earlier part of this thread suffer from this mess. It's simply the way business is conducted by a few, it is very slimey. You just need to not participate if you want things to change, don't bid and let it implode.
But it will not disappear!

A few always control the rest. You ride on their coat tails! Just like the US stock market, the worlds largest CASINO, Institutional investors control movement. Market makers do as well. You sell when you feel uncomfortable prices are overbid.

I have seen it for years. This stuff gets very deep and corrupt, sadly. Don't expect any answer or changes.

Just don't bid and let prices collapse.

Then you will see the true wholesale value, reg fee on all names. There is no true fair market value measurement.

True market value is only what AN END USER WILL PAY!

This is a troubling scenario, it happend to me once also on a 4L

The 4L bids under the reserve, as a single party we could never discover such a pattern, but as a community the fact it happend more than once, to many of us is not a coincidence anymore.

This is all very disturbing. In light of all the research provided on this thread I decided to take a look at some of my past "wins". Please draw your own conclusions.

On January 20, 2017 I was the high bidder for a CVCV.com. The link "More domains from this seller - click here" ends in 6ifd5lvs . According to an earlier post from @Michael , the seller is Oliver Hoger. The 2nd high bidder was "Winner8888" at $5,799 and the 3rd highest bid is a mere $500 bid from user "chelsearam". "Winner8888" drove my proxy bid from $600 all the way up to my near max bid.

So who is "Winner8888"?

On or around 10-12 February 2017, the user "Winner8888" was the winning bidder for NVFL.com . WhoIs history shows "Oliver Hoger" as the registrant of this URL on 1-28-17 and he is still showing as the registrant today. On 2-19-17 the WhoIs changed to "VIRTUAL REAL ESTATE LIMITED" and "[email protected]" as the registered email. On 4-8-17 the WhoIs was updated back to reflect "Oliver Hoger" as the registrant.

Please draw your own conclusions. I would love to hear what @NameJetGM has to say about this.

EDIT: The same week that I won the CVCV.com for $5,899 (1-20-17), user "Winner8888" appeared to win the auction for XGSX.com . On 2-19-17 the WhoIs changed to Domain Admin as the registrant and "[email protected]" as the email.

Every public reserve auction of 4L .com by Oliver is sitting at $501, reserve not met, HKDN lead bidder.

How are these members at least not temporarily banned right now @NameJetGM and their bids cancelled?
If you remove those bids, then what happens to subsequent bids?

Answer: A world of sh*t for NJ!

I hope web.com is ready to sue these four for the damages they are about to incur.

OLIVER HOGER (VIRTUAL REAL) used to own the domain, seems he is still the owner (Virtual Real Estate Limited)

This is convoluted.

The silence from all parties involved has become deafening.

I hope NameJet is doing a thorough investigation into all the parties and allegations.
Their reputation is on the line.

NameJet also has plenty of their own questions that need to be answered as well.

It would be naive to assume that NJ is genuinely investigating anything. They have allowed something that they could have easily discovered and stopped for so long, while financially benefiting from.

NJ
Somebody needs to do something before this snowballs to the point of no return.

I understand this is your gravy train but for the love of god...Owners/Shareholders must be asking questions by now.

Please, do not under estimate where this could go...

I'm rooting for you. BUT, it's time to face the music.

Bwhhaha just saw this comment on TheDomains article about this debacle:

Really no news at all..

Look at bidders like hkdn that always seem to know the exact reserve price… Give me a break.

Same regarding the Booth accounts. Your brother wants to buy a domain that you own? Well pick up the goddamn phone for christ sake. You tell us you rather would sell it through NJ and pay 15% commission instead of dealing with him directly? Sure…
"

So if one Booth brother wanted to buy a car from another Booth brother would the brother selling the car go to a car dealership, trade in the car and then the other brother buy it from the dealership with a 15% mark up?
