discuss What I learned in the last week about domainers

What a week. As many of you know I had a huge sale this month to a celebrity. I did an article with @Domain Shane The entire article was a "how to" on how I made a huge sale and how you can do the same.
Here is what I learned.
  • Domainers are jealous petty people.
  • Keyboard tough people like to DM me and say things they would never say to my face
  • Thank God there are some really cool people that come to my defense!
  • People from countries outside of the US have thrown some insults at me that I don't understand.
  • My fellow domainers are literally upset that I sold a domain for a lot of money and I don't know why - isn't that the goal for all of us?
  • I have been ridiculed for losing my job like I deserve it because I sold the name for so much? I don't see the connection
  • My job as an IT manager was garbage and that's all I could get with my low IQ? (I have a degree and was summa cum laude - look it up if you don't know)
  • I shouldn't talk about my sales
  • I left money on the table
  • I didn't get enough money
  • I ripped off the buyer
  • I rip people off by offering low prices for names I want to buy. Um - yes. Who pays full retail for anything they want to resell? I am not an end user. I don't force anyone to sell me anything. If you don't like the price we shake hands and walk away.
  • I had a broker who couldn't get an offer on two domains I hired him to sell, one of them hatred.com, attempting to insult me with a goose and duck reference? He also tried to impress me with his sales this year (none of them mine)
So again, this post will fill with haters and arguments. I am asking that you please refrain from saying anything negative. None of you know me personally and I have never ever stolen anything from any of you.
I am sad for this community, you have no idea what kind of scum is lurking here.
Instead of insulting me for whatever reason you deem necessary - go out and sell some names to end users. Its that simple, stop using me as way to escape the reality of your poor or low sales. Start sending emails and cold calling, that's what I do and it works.
I was trying to help you - all of you! Its that simple, and you turned it into a circus of hell. Go back and read the article and try to replicate.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Edit :

"Thank God there are some really cool people that come to my defense!
People from countries outside of the US have thrown some insults at me that I don't understand."

Some people from countries outside of the US congratulated & are happy for you (me being one of them)
Don't mind, there will always be haters in US and haters from other countries, focus on what you do best...

A lot of people are jealous and eaten with envy. I had a guy who had financial problems, I used to give him food, and on several occasions I took him to hospital because he couldn't afford a taxi. I didn't ever ask or get payment for any of it. I found out that on at least two occasions he had slashed the tyres on my van, and there were some other incidents. He died fairly recently, and I got into trouble because I didn't say I was sorry to hear the news. I can only assume that he felt I was diminishing him by helping him.

The title is very generalised. Haven't you covered all of this already? I'm very happy for you and your sale but you're just baiting the trolls now.

Thank God there are some really cool people that come to my defense!

Well let me be another to congratulate you.
Now, if you want to sell one of my names for $150,000, I'm happy to pay you $50,000. :)

That's funny anyway. It's good to be good

That sucks - it makes me stronger to know I tried

Congratulations on your sale.
Some of the comments in one or two of the threads here really amazed me and cracked me up as well.
I don't think anything you allude to in your post here is specific to domainers but really just "us" overall and it doesn't matter where we are from or how we grew up tho fractured english can just be so funny at times.
Same kind of things happen everyday in all sorts of things.
Perhaps you could start a thread talking more about your third item down in your list? Anyone who followed or peeked at the other threads saw everything you mention but probably not enough of that item.
I hope that losing your job and that the door it has opened for you treats you well.
I think I will read the article.

Domainers are jealous petty people.

It would be nice if you added "some" and/or "many" to the start of that sentence...a quick scan of the thread in question, shows those that supported you vs those that did not is about ten to one.

I am looking forward to the article you are working on re the sale...let us know when it is out. Congrats again on the sale...it has inspired me.

We have a lot of FBI agents here. They know every single thing (by Google) and post here to show off their knowledge. Most of them can't sell anything because they spent too much time chit-chat.

I have been here around 14 years and people don't even know I am male or female and I want to keep it that way.

I did not sell anything here in the past 6 months - Only buying - Spent around $7,000 and bought some LLL names.

So if you don't want people to beat you up the best way is to keep your mouth shut as no one appreciate what we share. They are willing to cut a tree to find an insect!!!

Domainers are... well, like domains! There is premium and there's, well, garbage. Seems the latter makes for so much unpleasant noise, to hear you tell it. Well, let me buck this trend... my sincere congrats on your sale! (y)(y)(y)

From what I've read somewhere (correct me if I'm wrong), you'd invested a tidy $xx,xxx sum first to achieve this big sale. That's quite a risk you'd taken and I'm happy to see how well this has worked out for you. It's an inspiration to us all! (or at least to those of us not blinded by waves of inbred envy!) (y)

EDIT: correction after reading the respective article-interview: you'd invested $4,000 "only". Still a tidy sum even for a keyword domain, and not a business related one at that! (y)
Heck of a sale! Thanks for sharing all that! Good luck with your future sales! :xf.smile::xf.grin:

i think

you shouldn't make blanket negative statements about people, then out the other side of your mouth.
ask the same people, to refrain from making negative comments in this thread.

to me, that's cognitive dissonance.

but....when you put your business all out on front street,

then those on the street, will respond according to how they perceive ... why you put your business on the street

some will see it one way, and others will see it differently, while some won't bother to look.

if you just handle "your business" and don't let everybody in your business, then who can make statements about what you do?

on the other side, you can tell the world about your every nook and cranny and then not give a shiz-zit about what they got to say, afterwards.

pick one, or parts of both, cuz i did long ago

imo....

First congrats on the sale.

It seems tho you're focusing on the minority on this one and then coming to conclusions. I read the article with Shane, 14 replies, didn't see 1 negative comment, all positive. The only negative I remember is some beef with one member and the tweet that was sent out about ripping off. Of course there will be some jealous people, that's normal since most dream of big sales like that. But overall, it's been positive.

As far as the article, I think that was went thru already, with even more detail, when you came and asked for advice from the members here - https://www.namepros.com/threads/need-advice-on-a-potential-huge-sale.1021970/

And that thread was filled with mostly congrats.

@uglydork

I am amazed that that is all you concluded.

There were maybe couple of people who said anything negative here and one idiot on a blog named "Incite".

And yet you chose to bash the whole NP community here, ignoring how many stood up for you, including myself.

Some people tend to see/notice only negative stuff. Must be sad.
