I just like to enquire when you get enquiries on your domains asking price , and you give the person $ amount ,and they come back and say ,I know How Much You Paid?

1.How Does what you paid in Anyway Determine the Asking Price ?
2.You Can handreg for $x and sell for XXXXX ?
3.There is no big secret , latest sales are captured on many sites for sales stats.
4. Does It Mean if Someone Know's How much You paid that it Effects asking Price?

Your feedback would appreciated, was wondering if you get similar comments ,and how common this is in the marketplace

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I'd say to them - if I bought a purse for £1 at a car boot sale, and it contained 2 gold Britannia coins (worth over £1,000 each), would you expect me to sell them to you for less than £5.

Let them say it, have had such instances many times!

Just goes to show they might notbe the right buyers for the domain anyway..

If they said "I know how much you paid", I would probably say, "That's funny...I know how much you're going to pay too." :)

1. It doesn't affect the asking price
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. No

Never got such a response. Does this mean all names have to be sold at reg. Fee??

It should take nothing out of your asking price ,you should sell your domain at your asking price or a price that you comfortable with ,like @tldboss said so knowing the asking price ,does that mean all domains must be sold at reg fee ,absolutely not :)

Common slogan in domaining...

"A domain is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay."

which I always correct to...

"A domain is worth whatever the "right" buyer is willing to pay."

Guessing the guy isn't the "right" buyer.

Majority of every domain I've sold in the last 14 years was an $8 expired pick up with a few years renewals tacked on into $650-$7500 sales prices. So doesn't matter what ya paid all that matters is domain quality, end user demand, profit margin in the industry the domain covers.

Thank you for reply and I agree ,I have times have paid higher for domains that I have went after "A domain is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay." If I was comfortable with the name I paid to make sure I get the domain

I echo the sentiment as well that has been shared already. If the domain dropped in price, the seller does not get to say to the buyer, "Do you know how much I paid for the domain?" What is fair market value? Its funny because I just started an auction and a BIN. I am waiting for them to say I know how much you
paid . . . Which does indicate interest, so take that as a positive!

PS . . .

When I know (or think I know) a woman's height, weight, age, orientation, religion, political views, and "size" you think I would dare say? Heck to the NO! That is how you get beep slapped by a now beep beep crazy woman . . . It is the same for domain investors . . . sort of!

I just felt if the buyer wanted the domain from me and stating that ,I know what you paid was just the wrong approach ,and I was negotiable I lost interest ,gave a price and moved on
