Sorry, but you and I have a difference of opinion on what premium means. Property.com and Unemployed.com are premium domains in my opinion. They have liquidity and can sell themselves. In fact, he has a deal pending for $2.85 Million for property.com. I don't consider any 4L domains to be even close to that in value.
Team.com, Fuck.com, What.com.... those are all 4L.com and worth more than Unemployed.com for sure, and you have right, they are not Premium they are SuperPremium!

lots of great names however here is how i would value these

1969.com rick $180,000 me $5,000
1620.com rick $160,000 me $5,000
CigarBlog.com rick $250,000 me $3500
GetTogether.com rick $1,550,000 me $15,000
ServiceDepartment.com rick $750,000 $4500
iBankOnline.com rick $400,000 me $20,000
SXW.com rick $800,000 me 80,000
iHotels.com rick $1,600,000 me 100,000
iMurder.com rick $800,000 me 3500
Midddleman.com rick $1,750,000 me 8,000
Rumormill.com rick $750,000 me 30,000

rick total 8.9 million
me total 274,500

minus the 3 letter in the list above this is a list a good domainer could easily have

when you have the sale history he has you can afford to sit on many more names and hold out. i think he sold 20 names in 20 years. m I would sell these cheap and buy a few more one words. there are still plenty out there selling for less than 50k that just because its a rick name could sell for 10 times as much. there are certainly 3 or 4 one words I have my eye on with a low 5 figure ask that Im waiting for capital to come in.
It´s true Rick has a great portfolio, but there are some domains I would have never registered like: iBankOnline.com Not worth $10 in my opinion.

That's ok, but it would make you FOOLISH to leave a lot of $$ on the table. I am sure MANY would have sold the domains I sold for over $25 Million for $250,000. What does that say? Maybe weakness, maybe desperation, or they don't know how to value a domain name.

I am a newbie domainer, but have been buying and developing domains since the late 90's when they were $200 each. The following is my opinion and not supported by anything except my own thoughts. Domains used to be worth more when you typed a word into the browser bar and the .com came up, eg. you typed in sex and sex.com came up. Ever since browsers started redirecting to search engines it has diluted the value of domains. A domain is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. You can put whatever price tag you want on it, but that doesn't change it's value. I see domains for sale that are far above what I think anyone will pay for them. It just seems like the real estate market before the crash, everyone is waiting for a bigger fool to come along. If Rick had to sell all his domains tomorrow what percentage of the asking price do you think he would get, 10%, 20% ?

thats exactly it.. liquidity and immediate sale revenue ... has nothing to do with some longer term maybe some enduser down the road valuations..

both are alright to make... have their merits etc.. they're just distinct things.

either way he owns a fantastic portofolio that no one here would not love to own. cheers.

If I have to sell tomorrow than $50MM to $100MM is what I would have to be satisfied with. Poor, poor, me. I'll manage somehow. But if I have the time, or if I believe this is "Generational wealth" like Real Estate, I just need $$ for my lifetime and hope my foundation capitalizes even more after my lifetime.

They never cost that much. At some point it was $100/2 years, then $70/2 years. Unless maybe you were stuck with some crappy registrar like register.com after the end of the NSI monopoly...

Domains used to be worth more when you typed a word into the browser bar and the .com came up, eg. you typed in sex and sex.com came up. Ever since browsers started redirecting to search engines it has diluted the value of domains.
Domains are still marketing tools, as long as businesses will be advertising them, they will remain valuable. In fact, the value of good, short domains continue to increase and the recent market activity is testimony to that.
I think domain names are going to last for longer than most people think, a bit like phone numbers.

Rick,

Obviously at this rate you will never sell all your domains before leaving planet earth. Interesting that you are thinking of passing your wealth of domains to the next generation. Hopefully you don't sell out to corporations like Godaddy at 10%.

Are you thinking of your own charitable foundation?

It's truly a nice portfolio.
Since I see many newb's reading here... If you want a piece of those reported sales that do happen with outstanding value, take the time to find out why they brought the value they did.
It's not just because of one keyword or two, but it helps.
While I don't want to put words in his mouth, I would say 'I Think' @Rick Schwartz would say it's because of the NEED or WANT for each. Without that you have nothing but a name.
Just figure out what that is for each sold. Apply that knowledge to your hunt for names.
Because I subscribed to that philosophy before I read the same in Rick's Blog.
If you are going to do it, why not get good at it.
Good practice just figuring out each weeks sales. If you can.

So the answer to the posted question is... More than enough to retire on. Which are my plans.
But one never really retires, do they ?

i-BankOnline _com
Well doesn´t mean anything ... I own abot 80 aged (15 to 20 years old) .COM domains which have their exact match DEVELOPED in .NET, .ORG, .INFO, .BIZ & some ccTLDs and only received $XXX offers from these companies over the years. Most of them told me they don´t see any benefit paying more tan $200 - $300 to upgrade to the .COM ... and some of them are US based large, large companies !

Rick Schwartz. I could only hope to have 1/10 his success. But I love the high prices.

There's always been thee "belief" in all things tangible or intangible by consumers. That if it's priced high then it MUST BE GOOD.

I am a firm believer that High Pricetags are a great eyecatcher. "Sometimes".

It begs a "second look" to understand or simply curiousity as to why that domain is priced at $1 million bucks?

It's like when Kanye West buys a new Bugatti Veyron. It's sensationalism at it's best.:xf.grin::xf.wink:

Technically, they are four letter words but in the context of domaining, they aren't. In domaining, when people refer to 4L they are meaning something like aahb.com not what.com.

Yes, I know, but you people forget one thing - English language is not only language on the World. For you welt.com is maybe only an ordinary 4l.com but he have some nice meaning on German language for example and great value too. Some 4l.coms (English) are 4c but 3l words on some other languages and might have nice value too. It is not that simple.

Sumo.com sold $1,500,000 in 2017

Vivo.com sold $2,100,000 in 2016 , close to $2.85M

Its nothing to do how much value of a name. Its about who can sell craps with high dollars. Rick is the only one can sell craps with top dollars......Rick can sell iBankOnline.com for $1M if he decided to put up $1M price tag.....
