few days ago Therealak win my auction for filemega.com ($40 at BIN price) , he paid fast via paypal and asking me to leave positive feedback.
today he dispute his payment and marking it as unauthorized Payment and i found his NP account is autoclosed now.

I found another suspicous account LukeeSim, this account bid at my current auction and leave positive reviews as a buyer for therealak, already report it and the account closed now.

now i have one auction running got 2 bids from autoclosed account

Does withdrawing all your money from your paypal account as soon as you get the money to prevent the buyer making a refund, works or not?

And guess Escrow is safe but it's not ideal to use it for low sales (under $100) because of the fees.

No that does not help, in most cases paypal has a backup payment type on file for you. Traditionally they also hold your funds for a period of time.

Never be scared of Paypal. If you have proper documentation you rarely if ever lose your money. The point here being documentation.

I work behind the lines via pm and mostly on handshakes but I am aware of the risks and I know how to work with paypal. Knowing how to protect yourself is key.

I think new members shouldn't be allowed to participate in marketplace until they have either a certain number of quality posts or they've been members for a certain amount of time.

When you create an auction, you can specify in the first post that new members may not participate in your auction. Sellers decide who can and can't participate in their auctions, within reason.

For me I look at anything under $500 as an acceptable risk. For others $500 could be a breaking point.

It's great that Eric leaves it up the the seller to determine.

I am also in favor of that decision.

Just yesterday I scared off a possible scammer by mearly adding this to the PayPal notation:

This transaction represents the service for the digital transfer of ownership of domain name ___________ .
No goods are present or sent and nothing was "shipped." No refunds are offered.



Not saying is 100% scammer proof, but it adds another layer of protection.

Hell, he could have posted here and said he is desperate for money and in hard financial straights.

I could have been convinced to donate the money....

I bought a 4L off this guy, I made him
push first, didn't trust him, I should file a PayPal claim against him, and give him a taste of his own medicine.

Funny thing was he wasn't able to deliver the domain for many days, as he bought it from godaddy, and was waiting for the transaction to finish. I was getting cold feet, and second thoughts, so I brought Eric into the convo, and he suggest I complete the transaction as the seller had 7 days. So I did, so I hope I didn't get screwed over as I am guessing he is just bouncing PayPal checks all over town for buys, and sells.

Another scammer joins, and runs a muck in a matter of days. This guy really went to school across the board.

If he does a paypal chargeback on his original buy, as he bought the domain at godaddy, if he paid paypal, and did a chargeback, I wonder if they scale the domain back from me? I doubt they would, they would probably eat it, but the extent of his damage is just all over the place.

Funny thing is when I made him push first, his response was how do I know your not going to rip me off?

Gotcha. If he really bought it at GoDaddy, I'd think they can make a stronger case that the goods were delivered and defeat his chargeback. Plus, at this point, you'd think Paypal is seeing that in fact he was the scammer.

I agree, but paypal can be weird on some domain chargeback calls, I am sure they are just as sick of this as the rest of us. I always thought of domains as intangible assets which their protections did not cover, but apparently the fine print is constantly changing.

So when I paid him, paypal held is funds, until I went in, and said goods had been received, he became quite worried about this. Since he had pushed, I went ahead, and did it. That would make me assume his account was quite new.

Scammers are everywhere...

i too got escaped from a scammer in flippa... he scammed me for 650$ ... but i got my money back.

Sellers be careful and don't accept payment from unverified paypal account...

i am thinking of starting a website against the digital scammers... i will launch it soon...

The domain you bought from him its' contact details was in Singapore. When he pushed it to auction on NP I asked him why was that he still said he owned it

The issue was he didn't have possession of the domain when it was auction at namepros.

He was front selling a tdnam purchase. The tdnam purchase is transaction assured and took a week to complete, he didn't count on this happening, he thought it would move as soon as he paid. I backchedked his purchase it was legit, as for his payment methods, I have no clue.

It looks like his name has been scrubbed from this page tying him to South Brunswick High School, which would place him right in the vicinity of the IP addresses:

The fact that his IP addresses are in the same place as Alex Kerker from South Brunswick High School is damning. He thought he could come to NamePros and steal people's money and not have it backfire.
