Hey Folks

So I was wondering....

As some of you already know, I am a big fan of ccTLD. Especially ccTLD's in emerging markets.

What do you guys think are the top 3 ccTLD's to invest in currently?

My Picks are:
.co.za (obvioulsy ;))
.in
.ng

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Well, I'm going to go against the prevailing wisdom by others in this thread, and go with the ccTLD hoarded by the likes of some slimy, double-dealing, back-stabbing, lying, pontificating, industry "insiders." That would be .us. Try finding a good one. You can't. Try picking up one on the drop. Lots of competition there. Do a whois search for the ones you'd dream of owning. You'll learn.

I actually like .us, I notice that my marijuana and also bitcoin related .us domains get a fair abit of attention in terms of views on Flippa and Sedo... the views have not equated to sales yet though.

Well, in my opinion, your lack of sales through Flippa is probably due to their reputation of allowing employees to bid against clueless Buyers. The Sellers have to know the employees are bidding on a particular name, but the Buyers remain clueless. Then Flippa's feet were held to the fire about such a policy, and the twerp they sent to stamp out the naysayers filled the threads here with BS. You know, BS like (paraphrasing here) 'We're working on it .... just a few more weeks ... the employees have better things to do .... working on employee "badges," ... and blah blah blah blah blah.'

And Sedo? Well, it's such a jungle there that you names probably get lost among too many others.

Hang a "For Sale" page yourself. You'll get a better quality of buyer, not a domainer, and not an employee of an auctioneer or auction platform.

Bwhahahah thats one of the funniest marketplace descriptions Ive heard in a long time. :)

You are definitey right though about having my own for sale page..I've been meaning to stick up my own pages for some time now..... I need to stop putting it off and just get on with it and actually do it..

In my experience, I get occasional interest. But I don't waste any time with the auction platforms even with nice .us names like ethanol.us, hospitality.us, aea.us, and other names of that quality. They just get lost in the shuffle or the auction platform pulls some shenanigans and offers no accountability. F--k 'em!

.US
.TV
.CO

That's probably the best of the lot, right now anyway. However, when non-domainers wake up to what's happening in ccTLD land, look for .US to take a leap and .TV to take a dive. When entities and individuals who aren't domainers realize .TV actually is the ccTLD for Tuvalu, and not for "television," look for those to drop like hot potatoes. But for now, sure, cash in on the ignorance of others, including Major League Baseball, NBC, AXS, and others. But when it falls, it will fall fast, so get in and out.
Where will MLB go when .TV falls? .US probably. http://www.whois.us/whois-gui/

TV is a way tougher market than .US imo; this coming from someone in the US. We see things differently for TV other than a literal ccTLD, I'm aware of your position on it and it's something I can appreciate. I have to say the cashing in on ignorance irks the hell out of me, but I'm not taking it personal.

Of the NP members here that gets a lot of flak for comments, I think others should not just jump on the bandwagon to criticize HN and pay attention to what they have to say.

Better sooner than later...it's steadily growing. You'd be amazed at the treasure to still be found.

This is interesting. Recently a dutch Domainer bought over 400 short and sexy .is domains, many of them related to online games & gambling. For obvious reason .IS is a very good suffix for making an easy to remember and good sounding domain.

Yeah, .IS is actually a really good ccTLD. Its been getting a lot of "action" indeed :)

I have since changed my top 3 list (again :) )

Right now my preferences are: (in no particular order)

1.) .de
2.) .co.za
3) .co

I would look at Residency Requirements., English Usage, Market Size and Future Growth for best cctld investment.

Pure country plays (for english keywords) : .co.uk, .in , .ca, .de

.co (colombia) and .tv (tuvalu) are bot being used as Pure country plays, as a country code .co is relatively small. You are going to lose out to .com anyway

.ai and .io (really small niches with limited applications not wide enough range) and not used as Country Code
