Hello,

We are investigating this incident.

..it's getting scarier by the day here
We take every precaution and action that we can to protect our members, but we are not an escrow company. You must follow best practices and do your due diligence with every deal. If you don't, then you're putting yourself in an unnecessary situation with unpreventable risks.

@therealak has been a member for about a month and only has a small number of Trade Reviews. Please don't use unprotected payment methods with anyone you don't trust completely. You should use an escrow company in those situations to protect yourself against the risks, but the decision is always yours.

However, even if you make the wrong decision and someone steals from you, we will do our best to make sure it doesn't happen again. We take theft seriously and have zero tolerance for it.

Thanks for understanding,

I use paypal for anything under 1k and mostly work on handshakes. Personally I would write it off as a business loss but it's a shame that a few bad apples make it harder for everyone else.

He got such a good deal on filemega.com, that in itself was the steal. To not pay is just unethical.

I hope the OP gets his domain back, I have lots of experience with paypal and their resolution centre will give you the money if you show the domain has changed hands.

PM me if you need help with how to approach paypal.

I agree you should provide PayPal with sufficient proof of your deal. Include screenshots from the Private Messages with dates/times/emails..etc. If name in your PM matches the name in the PP account, it would be hard for them to argue it was unauthorized. Unauthorized Payment was probably one of the stupidest chargebacks he could have done if you can prove it was him who made the deal and transaction.

Check the forum profile, private messages or emails..etc to see if you can find anything that shows he agreed to it. If he PM'd you and said "I'll take the domain at $40 BIN" and then signed it "Alex"...and the date matches..that would be pretty good proof to PayPal that this transaction was indeed authorized and sent by Alex...

We have confirmed that Alex paid for the domain name filemega.com and then filed a PayPal dispute on the payment, which means that Alex has stolen (Or attempted to steal) the filemega.com domain.

Alex has been banned from NamePros. If it helps you win the PayPal dispute or helps to avoid someone else from being taken advantage of in the future, here's the information that we've collected during our investigation:

Names and Aliases:
  • Alex Chase
  • Alexander Chase
  • Alex Kerker
  • Alexander Kerker
Email addresses:
IP Addresses:
  • 71.187.214.80 (Location: Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, USA)

  • 50.206.76.210 (Location: Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, USA)

We recommend that you always enter email addresses, proper names, and any other information you have on a potential buyer/seller into a search engine and NamePros Search to see if any threads like this come up. It could save you from becoming a victim of a scam.

I hope this helps to stop future incidents before they occur.

Thanks for the info dude. I was nearly scammed by this guy LukeeSim. I sold some domains for $34.5 and he sent me money yesterday. However, he is still in the process of creating an account at the new registrar and I haven't transferred domains yet.

We don't believe that LukeeSim is the same person, but we do have strong evidence that they have stolen money in the past. That's a separate ongoing investigation. At this time, we strongly recommend that you do not do any deals with LukeeSim.

Yeah, he may not be the same person. LukeeSim sent me money from the paypal address [email protected] and his name in paypal is Chembol Domains which it seems to have a strong correlation with this thread.

Scammers are everywhere...

i too got escaped from a scammer in flippa... he scammed me for 650$ ... but i got my money back.

Sellers be careful and don't accept payment from unverified paypal account...

i am thinking of starting a website against the digital scammers... i will launch it soon...

Thanks @ namepros for making this site safe. i hope the seller got the domain or his money back...

@s.azis I have a case with the same member for $45.

Please provide me with your Paypal case ID, i am in the middle of the case with the same user.
i have provided Paypal with all proofs including a conversation from his paying Paypal email address stating recipient of domain and also screen shots of other stuff. Paypal is investigating my case now.

Please provide me with more info so i can submit to Paypal as additional evidence of the scammer behavior to get his Paypal account closed for good.

I hope you have confirmed the sale through his Paypal email address as i did. it is: [email protected]

I am sure Paypal will side me as a seller providing his email conversation. and it will be good to show them that he is also doing the same thing with you to show Paypal that such a member is misusing their system.

I will also give you my Paypal case ID to add to your Paypal case response for them to review both cases and see their connection with the scammer. and hopefully, they will secure your funds as well.

Here is what i found about the scammer: he is going with another account as @UltraNames

https://www.namepros.com/threads/filemega-com.1013256/

namesilo username: alexkerker
email: [email protected]
paypal: [email protected]
namepros: @therealak

Because i saw him new, i asked him to confirm his purchase and paypal payment through his paying paypal email address ([email protected]) that carries the name UltraNames

Paypal dispute is now being reviewed, let us send both show them that that user is misusing paypal and that he is nothing but a scammer. waiting for your reply.

don't worry friend , paypal will support you...
give proper proof's alone and when i had the same problem i sent them the who is details ...
please send this link to paypal "https://www.whois.com/whois/filemega.com"...

Whois has different email, but not a problem, as i have email conversation with him from his paypal email address. that is how i secure paypal transactions. only conversation with the paying paypal email address not any other emails. besides proofs from here and domain transfer from the registrar etc.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out why all these brand new members are allowed to participate in auctions. This is a discussion forum not a domain marketplace (the marketplace comes as a bonus) and I think new members shouldn't be allowed to participate in marketplace until they have either a certain number of quality posts or they've been members for a certain amount of time.

Want to join NP and learn about domaining? You're welcome, come in learn what's to learn, ask questions, find answers, get used to the forum and its members and as the timegoes by you get experienced and you can start buying and selling here ... sounds fair enough @Eric Lyon ? As it stands right now all this BS happends because some smartass joins NP and after 10 minutes he can sell domains he never owned or stole, he can bid for fun and never pay. In most if not all of these cases there are new or fairly new members involved. I guess it's time for Eric and Co. to do something about this.

I know it sounds harsh and unfair for brand new members but well ... this is a discussion forum not a marketplace so everyone supposed to do his bit of posting, building and contributing to this community before jumping in deals and stuff. I might be wrong but this is how I see it ...

@therealak won one of my auctions and did not pay using cheap excuses about family issues (not first time). He even wrote me a negative trade review to me (?!). Crazy. After reporting the negative trade review to Eric, @therealak deleted it and denied telling Eric that he never wrote any negative trade review to me, insulting me and treating me as a mad.
Worse experience ever at Namepros. Luckily Eric is effective in those matters.

I am amazed you thought USA is a place of saints :xf.smile: alone.

There have been plenty of badass oldies accused and proved of scam here too.
