This thread is a central location to report domain name sales of any dollar amount.

As much information as you can include about the transaction is welcome, but at a bare minimum please include the domain name(s), the sale price, and whether you were the seller.

Good luck with your sales!

Please use the Like and Thank links on a post to indicate that you like it or are thankful for it being shared.

  • Tip: Use the Like/Thanks feature instead.

Questions are allowed, but do not post commentary. If you want to discuss or comment on a sale in this thread, quote it and then post it in the following thread instead:

I sold GrowLoan dot com last week for $1495 via Afternic ($1196 after commission) - one of many names I bought at Dotster over the summer.

I have also had two sales on BrandBucket since late December:
  • Plankk dot com - being used for a fitness app, already has a nice site built on it
  • Chefism dot com - coming soon

Congrats, nice sales !

If you don't mind sharing, do you have most of your domains with Afternic BIN ? And what % of your domains is with BB ?

I have all my Afternic names with BINs on them. I'm a huge believer in putting a BIN on everything.

46% of my domains are at BB.

I agree 100% with Nat - It is a fact that the sell-thru rate of average-good quality keyword .COM brand domains is significantly higher for domains priced to sell at the major marketplaces.

For obvious reasons, it is better to leave "make offer" for the higher-end names.

Nat - was GrowLoan (.) com part of Afternic's fast-transfer network - or did you have to unlock and supply the AUTH code?

Yes, it was Fast Transfer. It was already in the buyer's Enom account by the time I read the e-mail that it had sold.

Great stuff. I take it both Dotster/MyDomain are partners of Afternic's Premium Network?

Small sales to report, but I'm happy about it:

Roofers/Dublin in king
$89 BIN through Afternic
Purchase price: reg fee, $10
Regged in may or june 2016

Did outbound on the name, no replies from end users.
Decided that all my geo domains with no outbound replies were to be dropped this year so I put them on Afternic with a $89 Bin in November or December.

So instead of dropping, I got just over $70 from this sale, which is always nice and can be used for a dropcatch or 3 closeouts.

Weed/shop in io
Regged september 2016 for $39
Sold through Afternic in December 2016
BIN price: $89
Sale price: $60

Just glad it got sold. It had a few end users but it was a gamble, I wanted to test the .io extension. Kind of regretted regging it, so I am glad I got my funds back.

2017 for me is about damage control of my hopeful regs in 2016 (where I started domaining) and ending up with a portfolio I really like and has limited scale (aiming for around 100 domains max).

Small sale for me again on Afternic.

Domain name: VeganCakeMix.com
Listing type: Afternic BIN
Sale price: $99 ($79 net after fees)
Purchase price: $18 (GD closeouts in 2016)
Net Profit: $61

I am currently liquidating my domains on NamePros for $20 each. But at the same time, the domains are also all listed on Afternic for $99 and a few are a bit more expensive.

It was pleasant to have this sale. It is just a small amount, but its better than nothing, knowing I would have let it expire in one month.

Great stuff. I take it both Dotster/MyDomain are partners of Afternic's Premium Network?

Dotser, MyDomain, and Domain.com are all Afternic Premium partners. I'm not sure about NetFirms, which is also a Domain.com reseller.

You can view a list of Afternic's partners (both Premium and Standard) here:

https://www.afternic.com/domain-reseller-network

It's possible that list is not 100% up-to-date.

There was some discussion in the SuperSales thread if this is still accurate, you'll likely have to read through several of the posts to find out, or maybe better if a few different people contact support to verify
Read from the bottom up:
Subject: Re: Afternic Contact Us
Date: December 2, 2016 at 12:43 PM
Thank you for contacting Afternic Support. The registrars Dotster, Netfirms, and Mydomain.com are not Premium Network Partners at this time. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Lisa Afternic Support

You are more than welcome to discuss this in the SuperSales thread so I am not the instigator causing the Sales Thread to derail : smile :

V/e/r/i/P/h/a/r/m/a
in king

Sale venue: Outbound
Seller: Me
Asking price: $899 .. details below
Sale price: $850
Purchase price: $2 reg + $8.17 transfer.

Details: Firstly, for the first time in a year of emailing potential buyers, I have received a reply saying "Thanks a lot for contacting us". All other replies until now were just "how much" or "no thanks".

Handregged domain during domain.com $2 .com deals. Contacted all the potential buyers I could find. I usually prefer to look for buyers who have the exact or very similar keywords in their current domain but the buyers for this domain didn't own any similar domains, they just had a 'product' called "V/e/r/i/P/h/a/r/m/a". I found them on google. So I couldn't find their CEO and I just emailed all the "social@" and "info@" emails I found on their site and also contacted through the "Contact Us" page.

The email was read a lot of times according to GetSideKick plugin. Few days later they replied with a offer of $600. They did their research... just few weeks ago I got desperate due to the low number of sales and reduced the prices of almost all my domains at AfterNic. The price for the above domain was set to $899. The domain was still listed at Sedo for $2000. And it was obvious that they thought if my BIN price is $899 I would take $600. I had to sell the domain but I knew that the $899 price I set for this domain was too low! I didn't understand why would I set the BIN at just $899!? But I couldn't back away from it, I needed the sale and I just told them I would not sell for $600, they told me that it's for sale at $899 and they are willing to pay up to $850. "It's fair". I took the offer and told them to pay through Escrow but the CEO said due to "accountability and bureaucratic reasons" he can only pay through PayPal or bank transfer. I chose PayPal.

The domain was at MyDomain.com and I thought it would be a headache for them to create an account there so I asked them their preferred registrar, also they didn't knew anything about domain transfers so I transferred the domain into my GD account, which costed me $8.17 and then moved it into the buyers account.

imo, it's a great domain and I don't understand why no one neither backordered it nor picked it up after it dropped, the .fr is developed and they would've benefited a lot from this domain, not sure why they didn't replied to me, or maybe my email went in their spam folder, I never checked, even though I use the GetSideKick plugin.

So much to learn from this sale. Even though if I hadn't reduced the BIN at AfterNic, I might've sold it for 2x the current sale price, but for a $2 domain, $850 is great.

I hope everyone benefits.

Thanks NamePros.

Great sale man !

It also demonstrates the power of $2 purchases (I guess you wouldn't mind too much had it failed to sell)
