Hope you guys are doing great. Today I got the payment in my bank account and it's a very happy day for me. Here are the details

Domain name: Exact.org
Sale venue: Outbound
Seller: Me
Asking price: $6000
Sale price: $2500
Purchase price: $261 on NameJet (March 2016)

It was my 2nd ever purchase (The first one was a .net domain). Most of the people told me to stick with .com. However I decided to go for 1 strong dictionary word .net and 1 strong dictionary word .org (got the inspiration from one of @Zandibot blogposts).
For the first few months I didn't get any inquiry on Exact.org so In October 2016 I started outbound and emailed dozens of potential end users. I was not sending emails to their general email addresses i.e info@ or contact@ etc but researched and contacted the right person in the company. The hard work paid off and got the reply from one big company and we finalized the deal on $2500. I could have squeezed more money but did some blunders in the negotiations. Thanks to @AbdulBasit.com and @indiegrind for their support throughout the sale process. I thank all the namepros community as well. If there was no namepros i don't think i would have been in this domaining business at all.
The reason for creating this new thread is to encourage our new fellow domainers because in past the sales posts/threads were inspiration for me and I used to think that may be one day i will be able to sell my domain on a good price and that will be start of it. So here is that day....
All the best.

Thanks ... Yes thinking about the same thing. However the bidding on top names sometimes reaches to end user prices....So trying to find a different way for acquiring good names.... Cheers mate

First of all .. congratulations! :)

I'm curious as to what sort of people you meant by "the right person in the company" and where you got that info. Also, what was your outbound email like?

All the best! :)

Thanks...Yes. These are hard to sell but good single, short dictionary words in these proven gtld's always have chances to sell on good price.

Exactly. .com owners bought the domain. They have .net version as well..

Thanks. No deductions at all...That's extra happiness. lol...

Yes... Thanks.. Will build my portfolio now.. Only got 19 domains.....

Thanks :)

with .com owners owning the .net as well - you effectively had them by the short and curlies so to speak

as it appears they bought your domain ss defensive cover it would seem

they had to buy your name irrespective of price to prevent anyone else buying it

Well I was targeting director level people, Especially someone from Marketing, Business Solutions, Brand Communication etc. Sometimes CEO of the company.
Procedure is simple. Sometimes you will find all these people on their website and then you need to use free tools like email-format.com or hunter.io to get their emails.... Most of the times you will find all these people on Linkedin.
Check this link for email format... I used very similar template.. :)

Yes you are right. They own around 30 more domains and most of them have the term "Exact" in their names....
I could have used this situation in my favor more effectively but the problem was I contacted 100's of companies and didn't get a single reply... So I didn't want to lose the sale and settled on 2.5K. Learned so much from this single sale...

lol.... Yes... That's why I am more focused on building my portfolio of good names.... The more good names the more offers one will get.... That will give them power to turn down any offer.... Thanks for your reply mate :)

Hey thanks for that. I'm delighted it's working out for you. I'll be studying in detail how you worked hard to get this sale as I need to do this myself. This is a tough business and it's great to share these successes.
