Surprise last night. First poker game in a long while with a bunch of guys who are all screaming liberals, including a couple full on socialists. I'm always the odd one out politically. I was ready for Trump derangement, but most of them actually liked him to some degree. They saw that he could be disruptive to a completely corrupt political class.

Unfortunately, only half of them were American. The non-Americans were pretty much united in wondering why Americans seemed so obsessed with sex when there are so many important issues at stake. Chalked it up to good old puritanism.

Explain that one to me, what do you mean about U.S. campuses? Are you talking about date rape or something else? Other countries rape is ok?

So if you and you friends were hanging out, talking and they had underage daughters, you would be ok with them saying about their daughter stuff like:

My daughter has a very nice figure, if she wasn't my daughter, I would date her.

My daughter has the best body.

My daughter is very beautiful, if I weren't happily married to her mother, then, ya know.

Or maybe one guy tells another guy that he would date his 12 year old daughter in 10 years.

You would be ok with men talking about their daughter like that, yes or no?

It's not a normal or appropriate way to talk about your daughter.

Consensual sex is all good, as long as both parties consent and are old enough to give consent. Assault is non-consensual. Some conservatives seem pretty puritanical - it doesn't follow political allegiances.

I think there are more serious issues facing the world than inappropriate language. We are not electing a Sunday school teacher. Just my opinion. Maybe I have had a less sheltered life. I used to be around a lot these guys, wealthy developers and politicians of Trump's generation. Half of them talk like Trump behind closed doors. They need to feel important.

A guy grabbing the wrong woman when he is surrounded by women all day who want him to grab them is not the equivalent of cornering a girl in a room and assaulting her. This is really common sense, something lacking in the US.

The rape of the 13 year old is evil, if true. But a cursory look at that case pretty heavily indicates it's completely made up.

I sure hope you guys don't end up starting World War 3. If you think inappropriate language is shocking, wait til you get a load of war.

Just edited my post to make it clear that I meant they do have daughters, not that they talk that way about them. Unfortunately, this thread is not a good place to share even mundane personal info. Sad.

What makes you think these women want him to grab them? You dont know that. Goes back to the consent thing. Someone who he finds attractive shouldn't be groped because he assumes she wants it.
