As much as RPC and CTR from parking as plummeted, as much there are stupid new tld's, as limited as options for selling domains is, as hard as it is to buy good names, as oversaturated as the market is... I still love domaining. I have no idea why. I guess it's an addiction. :)

If you have product domains with traffic could try affiliate marketing.

You know you have a problem when you end sentences not with only a full stop (.) but with a TLD aswell because the (.) on it's own with nothing on the right side of it just looks odd, like something is missing.com bwhahahaahaha

It's one of those hobbies you can do without actually moving - and you even get paid ;)

Come on think positive. I made 8 cents, yes 8 pennies today from one of my domains being parked at GD. :xf.grin:

yeah.. but it's one of the least profitable enterprises I can imagine per time spent. These days. Not like 2004-2008 - then it was nearly impossible to NOT make money.

I'm looking at my Bodis stats and I earned $3.73 in the last year and a half. Can I join? :-P
What's the price of a beer where you live nowadays (I can bring a 8-pack of some really cheap stuff)

I love it because it sparks my imagination. These are not just names to me; they are ideas, the next startup, artistic inventions.

Well, I work in Manhattan... so if we all pool yearly Bodis earnings we can split one beer.

Parking (domain monetization) & Selling (active & passive) is as lucrative as it has been in years. You just have to focus in the right fields, doing the right things etc.

On the Buy, there are plenty of opportunities to grab good domains at sub-par prices. You have to be consistent, with eyes across all marketplaces, everyday.

It needs to be treated as a business, and not as a part-time hobby.

All of that is utter and total nonsense, unless you have incredible domains or a limitless bank account. Even if that's the case, the Parking comment is unbelievably silly. As in not remotely supported by any factual evidence.

Parking is not even remotely what it was. RPC is wayyyyy down, CTR is waaaayyyyy down - people know what a parked domain is now and they don't click. There's one feed. You're at the whims of google. The share is lower.
You saying parking is lucrative doesn't make it so. I mean, that's one of the silliest things I've ever read. Happy-clapper nonsense.

Sales are rock bottom. For a reseller you have about three options - namepros, direct to consumer, and flippa. Namepros, great place, but has way too many threads, so your quality name is gone the second you post. Flippa, eh. Sedo - sales decrease each and every month. Just look. Take a peek at dnjournal now and, say, dnjournal prior to 2010. Night and day. Increased domain registrations, decreased sales numbers.

Buy... of course it's easy. But selling what you buy for more unless you spend $xx,xxx? Extremely unlikely. For every dumb new tld purchase, 1 in 50 might be resold to make money. For every quality domain that's out there, there are 850 garbage ones. And 850 of those garbage ones never get sold.

If I treated it as a "business and not a hobby", starting from today, September 8, 2016, first of all, I'd be stupid, because I'd be investing in a product I have no control over, and also I'd be lucky to make low $xx,xxx a year. Entering the domain market with low capital and expecting to make a fortune now is nearly impossible. In, say, 2006, I could be a total idiot, spend low to middle amounts of cash and make high $xx,xxx or low $xxx, xxx.

If you develop your domains, of course this is completely different, but that's not what you're talking about. Although, with things like ghostery and so on ganking your affiliate sales, there's a decline there as well.

Really, all that gibberish you typed out is completely unsupportable nonsense. Putting it in bold doesn't change that. Don't lead people on. It's dishonest.

For me. Parking Crew is the best parking provider. Followed by Voodoo. Income isn't what it used to be, but these 2 stand far above the rest for general parking revenue. Of course you need visitors and clicks before they can work their magic. YMMV.
