I wonder if you guys have noticed a pattern in your domain name sales. In my case, after reviewing my sales data, I see my most productive set of months is between April and August, with April and May as the months with the highest number of sales.

What is you experience? Feel free to vote, comment or both. You can vote for more than one month if you want.

I haven't really seen any pattern based on month or season.

There generally seems to be a wave pattern throughout the year, depending on which month a certain trend may catch on.

So far the following months have the majority of the votes. To me, it is surprising to see December on the list of the top four.

Month-----------> # of Votes-------------> %

April---------------------> 10 ---------------> 21.7
September-------------> 10 ---------------> 21.7
November -------------> 11----------------> 23.9
December -------------> 10----------------> 21.7

April and May for me.

School ending soon, new startups are looking for names, last rush before summer.

September, people are getting ready for school and work after vacation. October they are spending money on halloween costumes, beer, candies. November, debts are almost paid off but next month will be a nightmare for everyone's wallet. lol

January February seems good. People are normally in a good mood coming off the holidays. Atleast this year...

Can make sales all year, just depends, but summer is worst.

End of year seems good - Sept. - Dec - I guess companies want to spend before end of year for a tax break

October to May seems to be the best period both in terms of offers quantity and quality (highest) in my experience

Its not a product that depends on a season, its a product that depends on an end-user desire :roll:

It can be every month ... except summer months. ;)

Summers (June through August) are the worst. The poll agrees.

I would have thought the beginning of the year would have been the best months, before the marketing people have spend their annual budgets for the year. OK, I know not every company has their financial year ending in December, but a lot do. By way of justifying this theory, I had my best 3 months ever in Jan-March this year. But I haven't got enough sales to see if this has been a pattern repeated from previous years. Mid-year (summer) has always been slow for me. Thing pick-up again towards year-end Oct-Dec. So I voted Jan-March.

Buyers want to get in those last-minute expenses near the end of the year to cut back on their taxes. As an investor, I spend more in November and December than any other month as well to offset my earnings. Domain names make the perfect expenses!

Strategy:
  • Buy liquid domains in November and December to offset your taxable income.
  • Then you won't owe any taxes.
  • Come January and February, sell those liquid domains to get all that cash back, tax free.
You're welcome. :xf.wink:
