I am going to buy a premium domain from them. Looks like a sister company of web.com. Anyone has an experience transacting with them?

I am sure you are not thinking of paying them directly without an Escrow? Always buy through Sedo or Godaddy or Escrow.com.

Some information on New V Corp: http://dotweekly.com/new-ventures-services-corp-who-are-they/

Going to buy via Escrow.com.

But some reports suggest that escrow.com doesn't hold the domain in their account. They track only the whois info. That doesn't feel THAT safe.

What if the seller changes Whois info themselves or puts private whois and claims that the name has been transferred?

Those tricks don't usually happen. Escrow.com are smart people and will not pay the seller if you object to them about domain not being received. They also have links with registrars and if a situation like that happens, they can verify at their end if a domain push has been made.

Whenever there is a domain push, there are emails from the registrar to the owner. If it comes to a situation like that, you should also ask the seller to provide confirmation mail from registrar.

Whatever the origins of NewVCorp, they still have to sell their domains. I don't think they would indulge in tactics like those.

What is the transaction size we are looking at?

Quite a deep analysis but its quite evident that most of the registrars today indulge in stealing valuable expired domain names. One recent was the case of Hosts.com being stolen by Name.com/RightSide. There is a NP thread on it.

ICANN is a dummy organization, they are in cahoots with the registrars and as long as they get their cut, they won't bat an eyelid.

Americans ought to find a solution to this outright theft of valuable expired names by way of a court ruling. I would love to know if any rulings exist on settling these crooks straight.

If someone wants to keep their name safe, they should remember to renew it. If these registrars steal expired names, what's wrong with it? Why is it "stealing" in the first place. How are they different from someone who catches dropped names?

Oh boy, you have much to learn. I will explain for your benefit. :)

There is an ICANN designated process for expired names. Very valuable expired domain names that are supposed to be dropped are sometimes NOT dropped wilfully by the "stealing" registrars on some pretext and instead transferred to one of their or their partners' accounts. They got the valuable domain "FREE" illegally that's why it's called "stealing".

A "drop" allows all people a fair and equal chance, whether on their own or through technology enabled backorder services to own the domain. The first one to hit the verisign servers with registration request, as soon as a name is dropped, gets the domain.

Most of caught dropped domains end up in private/public auction between the bidders, sometimes ending in five/six figures. That's why drop catchers are NOT thieves since they pay for it in a fair manner.

Sometimes they steal unexpired domains and/or domains in transfer.

Very, very shady group.

Yes, I happens to me, Network Solution transfers my domain ownership to New Ventures Services Corp
while the register name still active, not expire. It has more than one year time. They want to sell it back to me for $2000.00 plus. They charged to listed with them then sell it back to you.

I bought a domain from them via ecsrow.com after using a contact form on a domain I absolutely wanted for personal use. Talked them down to $500 from $800. This was in December 2014 but my experience with them went smooth.
