.store vs .shop, what do you think is a better investment and why? Some keywords flow nicely with one or the other, and some flow nice with both new gTLDs, maybe invest in both?

why some go auction and some go unsucessful?

Mine all went either successul or unsucessful!! none went to auction...
I think unsuccessful means that it went to a different registrar who may or may not have had their own auction. (You may have preregistered at GoDaddy, but 1and1 got the domain.) Auctions can only happen within the same registrar.

I had 1 unsuccessful, 2 successful, and 1 auction.

I pre-reg'd 15 .store domains for GA
5x successful
7x private Auction (next Tuesday, I'll be in a bidding war with @CJ6 ;))
3x unsuccessful
I have also 5 .store auctions -_- ;)

I like .shop more but..."Play Store" "Google Web Store" "Microsoft Store" "Play Station Store"...show that there is something about the word "Store"

shop is more like your in and out quick, and store is more stay inside longer kind of thing.. but then again you don't hear coffee store a lot do you (or at all really).. and lots of people stay in starbucks and other coffee shops for ages.. but you are right, a lot of tech co's use store and not shop. must be some psychology thing?

actually it flows better and has dual meaning, hence probably the preference its used.

I think .shop would be useful for ANYTHING.

Whereas .store works well only with a few broad categories / keywords.. e.g: book.store, electronics.store, play.store.

Exactly. Like anybody is ever going to buy the domain at that price and then renew it for the same amount year after year. They must think we are all a bunch of deep pocketed fools.

Thanks,

AMS on Google:

"store" 450 000
"shop" 368 000

At this point, the difference is not essential, though. As mentioned, it rather depends on what's being sold, imo.

Price may be a determiner too. Are the costs known for .shop?
.store is $40 or more/year

If I could find good keywords for regular prices, I'll go with .SHOP.

With that said, I still like .STORE, but as I domainer I would not pay xxxx annually for a name. Honestly, I don't want to pay xxx, or EVEN mid xx either.

I have no problem with buying names for xxx and even xxxx, but I'm trying to stay away from high renewal fees. I just don't want to take that risk by now. I need to improve my portfolio further first.

If in Australia you would want .shop, we go to the shop, we go shopping, store would work but not as generic for us

Americans use the word store whereas shop is used elsewhere. Like movie vs film.
Depending on where you live you will certainly be biased.

I have in mind a couple of highly business focused .store domains that are available for registration. But I wont have the time to take care of them or bother listing for sale. Anyone interested in a 2-dictionary-word .store domain pointer? And the other one happens to be it's antonym although not 2-dictionary-words. I would like to charge a fee for disclosing them. Cannot disclose either one of them without the other because once you know it the other becomes obvious.

How about not investing in .store, nor in .shop?

I would possibly be interested, if the price was reasonable .....however

Some people say. store is better some say. shop.
If I agree that shop is better, it is just some better no very far from store.
Now, when I look how store is doing I do not see any crazy number registrations, I do not see any huge desire for this extension ( actully one-third comes from country with over 1billion people).
If shop does twice better in the future I still don't see it as a great investing opportunity.

I don't think the number of registration is a good measure for success though.. just look at .xyz :)

I agree with doubleU. It's too long. I don't really care for the length of .store, but it works with many names out there. The only thing I can think of that works with .shopping is online. I'm sure there are more.

I'm not going for any .shopping.

What about .market , it's a great one and could stand here

.SHOP is a bit more versatile than .STORE as it has other meanings besides "a place where you buy things" as well. But if I would put together a serious e-commerce operation, I'd probably go with .STORE. Sounds bigger, with more selection. I like both, though...

Theoretically, both should have an equal chance of success. Some names sound better with "store" at the end, while others sound better with "shop" at the end. For example, market shop has an edge over market store, but hardware store sounds better than hardware shop. This might not be the best example (I just thought of it now), but that's the overall idea.
