UK events?

Hello to all my fellow domainers!

With the recent namescon event which has just passed, something that I don't know if I will ever get to any time soon, I was wondering if anyone knows of any similar events here in the UK?

I have never met a fellow domainer face to face, it's all online via email, which is nice but, to sit down and have a good chat with fellow domainers is something I really want.

If there are any events here, please let me know. If there are no events, then lets get one started!?!

I feel the same, always seems to be in London and is usually boring old .co.uk

I did enjoy attending reg 123 roadshow which was in Cardiff! It was great to meet fellow domainers

That would be good Lionel. I'm in Scotland, just north of Edinburgh. Think we should get a bunch of us to commit then we can decide on a neutral location. How does that sound? Let's start the UK NamesCon (thinking out loud)

I am up for it 100%, nothing is really been organised in Europe. They are loads of domainers who would join.
My wife does a lot of conferences in central London, therefore I can easily find venue etc... we need to be a group of 3/4 to split the tasks: marketing materials, venue, advertising etc....
Who is up too? I personally think we can attract loads of people.

We need to put together a proper website, where we will communicate and people share their thoughts and potential sponsors to look at. We are a great community of people, we can leverage that greatly.

Must say though, the whole 'con' thing is very American. Do you think it can have negative connotations with 'conman' etc.

OK guys, so what's the next step? Do we decide on a date and location first? Or do we get a website underway?

We need:
- a commuted team
- websites
- potential venue and date
- sponsors
- speakers

Maybe we could get @James Iles on board? What do you think James? Are you up for it?

Location - I'm thinking one of the big cities, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, all have great transport links and airports.

Date - well I really want to be there but my missus is due in July so later in the year would be better. Plus it will give us plenty time to get it planned properly.

Speakers - I'm happy to do the rounds and research local and international successful domainers and put it to them and see what I get back.

I'm no developer so need to find someone for that.

thats a great idea folks, I live in surrey county, close to London.
around europe couple of events are happening related with Domaining and Hosting,
yes we should conduct one in UK.
I am not sure how many people are in Namepros from UK, but we can find more people from other UK forums. .
Lets have a meetup and discuss and yes we should organise an event.
