Hey Guys, brand new to domain flipping but really want to give it a go, i have been reading the forum over the last few days/week and i am learning new things everyday, i guess this question is aimed at the more 'advanced' domain flippers, but knowing what you know now about what 'potentially' makes a good domain to sell, is there one thing you wish you knew what to look for when you where just starting out like me ? Any advice would be great :) Thankyou.

If you want to get good at flipping domains, it is good idea to get rid of flipping mentality.

Buy only the domains you understand, you would use yourself for your own business and would not have problem communicating the name to your clients.

And, first year at least, stick to .com only until you understand more about the domain investment industry.

Don't fall for Chinese hype(s). You might get lucky and ride the waves up, but painful crash is more probable.

Yeah I think Recon.com is spot on. When you starting off stick with domains that you know and domains that are brandable. Don't get disillusioned if you dont sell you domains immediately, sometimes they move quickly sometimes they don't. It's just the name of the game...

My mindset comes from buying domains that I can imagine building a business around. Not simply a website, but a business. The best domains are ones that have value outside of your investing peers, and that the general public can comprehend and understand. Sticking to .com is probably the first and most important step in this. Then find keywords that are widely known and understood and buy the domain for a fair price. It's important to not pay end-user value to another investor, otherwise you will most likely never profit.

Stick to a process and try not to sway away from it until you are certain you can be prosperous. Good luck.

My Advice would be atleast for 1 week go just browse namePros.com and read as much as you can And also check Aftermarket domain sales from various industry News (DNJournal, Namebio,...etc)

This is one question that doesn't have a definite answer. Domain flipping is a tricky business

IMHO a good percentage of domains are subjective to the perceived value of the potential end user.

At the last end only a sold domain.
No matter which TLD.

I wish I knew how hard domaining actually was as it would've saved me time and money.

When I started out, I thought I could register any crazy domain, wait and get rich, which is definitely not the case. I now know it takes a lot of learning, hours of digging and a lot of patience to acquire half decent domains which are not guaranteed to sell, let alone flip, but increase your chances at both.

As for what makes a good domain to sell, I stick to domains that don't need an explanation what they could be used for, with the exception of a few short brandables.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I would add, we must consider how many potential clients there are for our domain name, and their power spending!

I ask myself: would you buy it at that price if you were in their shoes?
