They both have advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages of One word Domains:
1. Common Dictionary words that are widely used is rare in the .com section as well as the other new extensions.
2. And as such they have high value...can fetch high amount of $
3. Can find a ton of EndUsers easily.
4. Its vast..vast than the combination of numbers...its vast like the mind that wanders.

Disadvantages of 1 word Domains:
1. Common English Dictionary words are not common now...(there are tons of uncommon dictionary words though).
2. Have an unlimited supply with the new extensions..and hence decrease in the rates of the 1 word new extensions.

Advantages of Liquid Domains:

1. They are Liquid..so you are on the safe side..and know that you will get something outta it.
2. Can equate them with large amount of money..i mean if you want to get some money out from your government's reach..(its not good though)
3. It might create an artificial need and artificial market of speculations..and hence an independent market.
4. People tend to shift from Stocks/Forex etc to Domaining..this is a good news..it is creating a bigger Liquid domain market.

Disadvantages of Liquid Domains:
1. Money Laundering & illegal activities related to it might jeopardize the domaining ecosystem.
2. The market can fall apart from speculations and manipulations.

..and thanx for the input mate..hope this might help

Very nice question raised. We also invest in both and have been for a long time. I think we made much better deals with liquids over the years. The only thing is, when we started back in 1999, there was already barely any common English words available. IN fact, I wrote a program in January of 2000, which ran against common word and whois program and it returned a very few "desirable" results. To this day I own a few names from this program: Artistical.com, Biannual.com, Faite.com, Phenology.com, Utilizing.com. My point was not to advertise my names here. My point was that even back in the beginning of 2000 when I registered these, - and btw - I registered every single one word dictionary that was available at that time - even back then the available lists were not even that great. I got a few offers over the years and a few sales of course, but the quality was not there even back then.

My point is - in order to work with common English dictionary words - you need to go back to 1996 - 1997 and if you find a way - please share :)

As far as liquids - well you can pick one up today on the free market. It may not be that liquid today, but it's going to start melting soon and once more domainers come into the mix - it would be qualified as a liquid and potentially sold.

I feel like extreme number of extensions definitely hurt our bottom line with both liquids and common words, but it does give the new entry point to novices, and more domains to practice the trade.

Now, if you are a multimillionaire - then it's best to be common word trader - or some extreme liquid NN and NNN and LL, LLL up on the top of the food chain.

But best parts about liquids, they allowing everyone in. Just purchase today 8N.com on the open market and hope for the best.

If something is liquid it is usually because it has a constant and stable value, fyi. Both are okay investments but not across the board. Domaining is way too dynamic to answer this question without paragraphs :p

I agree with your views..there are no more meaningful one word to handregs..in .coms (especially)

and that's why 2 word domains and 3 words are thriving..now

Liquids has made the road easy..but yeah we need to be careful in every step..particularly if we have limited funds unlike the multi-millionaires. ;)

its better to choose the domains carefully..whether it be One word or Liquids..

I made a lot of mistakes too..bought what shouldn't be right..but that's life right..i regard that x amount of money spent on those poor domains as a live course module of "How not to pick up loosing ones"..and am still learning...from your valuable input..

Thank you for your view on it..it helps a lot..

Regards.
