Are all domain sales reported ?

Are all domain name sales (fom sedo ,afternic,godaddy) reported in journals, or do some people choose not to disclose them? For example if a domain sold for high value at a marketplace will it be automatically be reported to the public (as in domain sales journal) or can it sell and in situations nobody would know? even for domains which have sold for a lot of money on market places?

No, only a fraction are reported. Many are private sales, and many have an NDA that prevents their disclosure.

Nope. I sell a couple names but mainly through private messages here on NP or through emails.

I thing about 99% of sales is private..and that's good for domainers as in this case non domainers who hold value domains can sell you cheap this names as they don't know real value of their names and as can't find any sale reports for similar names..

I was under the impression that as soon as a domain sold for a large amount on sedo etc then they would automatically report it?

Sure. If you ask Sedo not disclose sale or purchase they will do it, i did such many times with them. Most of 5-6 figure sales is not disclosed anywhere.

Now - you gotta pay sedo to not report it. I forgot how much, but I am sure that they changed their terms of use including payment for no reporting.

If so, that's suck. Last time I had purchase 2 month ago on Sedo and they not charged me anything for that.

UPDATE: Checked their site pricelist, seems like from January 1, 2016 they started to charge 2.5% of sale price for non disclose..

UPDATE 2: On pricelist page stated "Effective Date: April 9th, 2015 | Posting Date: March 31st, 2015" seems like this is old rule..they just not charged me..strange as I have few deals on the end of 2015 on their site and all was non disclose as it was requested and free.

That's a true problem!

For instance, I don't trust Namebio for appraisal based in comparative reported sales because they are too low.

IMHO, the data of DNSalePrice.com, the source for domain sales history and comparable sales, is much more realistic than Namebio in the process of assessment.

You may be right to a degree, but I think the way all domain sales are reported gives a distorted picture of the actual market.

Premium domains don't undergo on price in a few years, indeed, maybe they revalue!

I think the most reported domain transactions on Namebio are related "flipping": flipper to reseller.

Domain reseller pays very low. Domain investor pays more than reseller, but less than end-user.

So, Namebio'data are useless to eyeball a direct offer domainer to business/end-user.
