question How to Motivate End Users for Geo Domains

I have couple of geo domains in the dentistry, limo, landscaping niche and want to sell these to end users. The thing bothering me is that I am not a good salesman; other than the fact that no one wants to be sold to. And I most certainly wouldn't want to irritate the potential end user from my direct sales pitch.

So how can I keep things differently from a normal sales pitch to a motivating email that offers more than just a domain name? What should be the theme of my email to "motivate" end users to realize the value and importance of having geo domains?

So far I have compiled couple of short email pitches and I try to customize the email content where I can for each business. But still I think that there's something missing and that there are changes that can improve the quality of my email script.

Any ideas on what type of content can add value to my email (sales letter) and can aware the business about the importance/value of the domain I am selling?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The reality is most end users do not give a %&*#@! about domain names and will think you are a scammer for trying to sell one for more than $50. So assuming your geo+service .COM domain actually has some search volume but falls a bit short of "Miami real estate" search volume, selling your reg fee or backorder domain for $XXXX is highly unlikely. A low $XXX sale may be possible with some work but may still not be worth the effort involved. Service professionals are professionals in their fields - not domainers and certainly not website developers. They do like new business so if you can bring them qualified leads, perhaps you have a chance. Doing so is not going to be easy and while I have ventured in this area, I have not been successful with it. Exact match domains do still rank well at Bing and Yahoo so I have gotten some relatively simple real estate sites to rank. Occasionally I would even get people to fill out the lead form. But even a site which ranks on page one of Bing is not necessarily going to motivate a service professional to buy your domain (hundreds of contacts in numerous markets yielded zero sales - even in markets with populations in the millions). I have had numerous such sites, reached out to end users and they do not care. But it might work if you arrange to sell them leads but doing so without experience is a bit more of a challenge and involves a degree of commitment you may not be willing to take. Most domainers just want that $XXXX domain flip rather than having to work to sell a lead for low $XX.

I think it's key, as with any sale to get the pitch tailored and customised for each individual/business.

What do your email pitches look like at the moment?

Currently my default pitch looks mostly like this:

Hi,

I am the owner of DOMAINNAME.com and since I am not using this domain I thought it would be of value to your business.

The domain can be used in a number of ways to benefit your existing business website. In second paragraph I write a sentence or two about possible uses of the domain and mention the price I am seeking.

If you are interested in buying DOMAINNAME.com please let me know at your earliest as I am also contacting other potential buyers.

Best,

and since I am not using this domain I thought,

So I thought I'd shoot myself in the foot with this unnecessary statement above

If you are selling a geo+service then make the advantages clear to them:
1) They are good for billboards and radio adverts, example: poolcleaningmiami.com is more memorable than joespoolcleaners.com or whatever site he has
2) It can forward to his existing site, two domains throw a wider net than one
3) It will not go to his competition, defensive registration ect

Wow, now that's what I call professional "selling" tips. I get it now that my pitch wasn't that professional in selling/offering something to the end user. Not only that, it was doing the opposite (of selling, i.e. not selling, hehehe).

Many many thanks mate. I'm editing my pitch right now.

Post it or PM me once you have finished I will give my opinion. My point#3 should be taken lightly, it should not sound like blackmail but rather as a matter of fact kind of statement "I am offering this domain to all related parties that may be interested in securing the domain name from their competition ect" do not say "Buy this or your competition will!" try to have a low entry angle with this argument.

It's old, but right on 100%

Please, can you send a copy of your sales letter pitch with this format. Let me PM you thanks.
