This story starts with DNF; a barren wasteland that once was a leading forum within the domain industry. While the forum itself played a huge role in propagating the myth that is Adam Dicker, the story really begins with DNF College in the summer of 2011.

Updates / Reports
These are in no particular order.

From what I understand, Adam still owes north of $33,000 to previous customers and business partners. As I receive more information, I will update this figure.

Were they working for you or for Webcorp? I hope to God your tax filings are in better shape than what appears to be the case from this shambles of a note. Can't even figure out if the money is yours or the business - who were they working for? II think it's time to call the Canadian tax authorities too... lol....maybe that was "Part 2"

And $2500/mnth when you're on a video saying you'll make thousands "EASY" on random names.... lmfao

At least they got a vacation and some M&Ms

Doesn't there have to be profit for there to be a tax liability?

If he made losses he could even be owed a tax credit....

The only thing that I'd pick up on is that if there was actually a point where more money was owed than was sitting in the bank, then that is insolvency, and I thought you had do declare bankruptcy and dispose of assets when you reach that point?

I also admit when I am wrong.

Then perhaps you should consider admitting that you were wrong to disclose her full name without her permission. I'd understand if you were challenging her story, but I don't get why you're doing that when you've acknowledged that her claims are legitimate. To me, it looks like you're punishing her even as you're apologizing.

She posted it on Shanes blog.

Forgot to add this:

If the company isn't legally incorporated and the NDA was between the company and the employee then the NDA is invalid.

Just an FYI.

That was my thought . I was about to post when I refreshed and saw your post.

I have no intentions of chasing anyone for an NDA infraction at this time.

I'm sure I'm not alone in being very uncomfortable with the word "criminal" at the top of this thread in H1 tags all along. Does anybody agree that Shane should consider changing that word to something a little less extreme? "Is Adam Dicker unethical" would have a little less of a sting.... even "scammer" imho would be a little less extreme, although that may be subjective.

Alternatives:

"Adam Dicker gives people money....what ledger account did it come from?"
or
"Real Shane Is the Awesome"
or
"Lanny B - isn't that a pornstar?"
or
"Michael Cyger hangs our with Unethical People"
or
"Where's Ali ?"
or
"Adam takes employees on Vacation... "
or
"Dicker.. yes it has Dick in it and that's not funny, eh"
or
"Call the Police! The Mounted Police"
or
"Horton's: it's where no contract is not signed for work maybe done...(allegedly, it's NDA)"
or
"Adam Dicker at least he's not Bill Cosby"
or
"Shane Shane Shane...Look at me!"

Any more?

It would be nice if this was changed.

Again, it is important to know if you're legally incorporated under Canadian law.

Is there even anything more to add here? It seems Shane has succeeded in doing what he set out to do. Adam has refunded these people, as per everyone's very vocal requests. His motives for doing so are irrelevant - does he feel bad about dragging this on and on for those people? That's neither here nor there. Mission accomplished.

I don't know what the terminology is in the USA, but usually if somebody has a business or financial dispute they start civil proceedings, whilst anything that the police would prosecute would be criminal proceedings.

So if you owed an individual or business money you'd usually be taken to 'civil' court, whilst if you walked into somebodies home and literally took their money you'd be arrested and taken to 'criminal' court.

I have no idea whether these are distinguishable in the USA, but owed wages or a dispute over goods and services would in most cases be civil court matters.

That's why I personally don't like the word "Criminal" being used in this case. I think there are plenty of other words. Perhaps "scammer" is one notch down if Shane didn't fancy being too generous, whilst "unethical" is a couple of notches down if he is feeling a little more generous, and "douche bag" if he were feeling very generous.

It's not clear who's paying - it is a company? Is it Adam? It's not clear whether they work for a company or an individual... so who paid what etc it all seems shady. When personal and company finances mix it's a recipe for disaster (knowing someone who sunk their own money into a business that suffered embezzlement and other issues and suffered huge personal loss because of it when they should have just got out of the business) I don't really care - the note is just a bit weird. I assume he didn't screw the US govt out of appropriate payroll taxes etc.. they are less forgiving than Shane :) But he says he's good and I was only kidding...not interested in his filings quite honestly. Domaining is the last business a lot of people here would want to be properly tax audited...

A note (LannyB)

Webcorp was started because I had lots of domains and no time to develop them all. I figured why not involve other people and get them as project managers and give them a piece of the profit. We ended up doing lots of work and spending quite a bit of company revenue but the end result was it failed.

I took Lanelle and Rick and Marc, the 3 people managing the project directors to Vegas for Namescon. There they met people they might not have had the chance to meet and made great connections. Hopefully that helped them and will continue to help them in the future. We did the same when I took Rick and Lanelle both to Spain with me where I was speaking.

When we were in Spain, Lanelle, Rick and I spoke. They mentioned they needed some $ to continue and I offered them both $2500 a month hoping that things would pick up.

As time went on we realized that some projects were not right and some people were not right for certain projects. Like with any business we tried shifting around and reduced some people. Things never picked up and we scaled down much further.

It took me way too long to pay Lanelle, Chelsey and Simon. Yes, I kept saying I would pay them and I kept putting them off. At the time I didn’t have the $ because I spent too much on Webcorp and was too embarrassed to tell them. I always planned on paying them it just took way too long. I make no excuse for that.

Those that run businesses know sometimes you take chances and you fail. Sometimes money is great sometimes it’s not, that’s part of business. They are all paid now and I should have been more up front.

Lanelle is a good person and I have nothing negative to say.

I apologize to Lanelle for poor business decisions that I made and not dealing with her as professionally as it should have been.

Whether you are successful or not, there are always ups and downs running a business.

"Yes, I kept saying I would pay them and I kept putting them off. At the time I didn’t have the $ because I spent too much on Webcorp and was too embarrassed to tell them."

Are you sure you didn't have the money? I just watched a video of yours and the video starts with you saying

"I'm running 12 different businesses myself each making over $50,000 per month."

I will post the video here if you would like to refresh your memory. Did you have the money or not?

This will definitely be used in the future, just choked on my food because of it. Finally something tops Namepros Nancy.

He may but does Webcorp.

That's why you incorporate :)
Obviously, but when your employees are sacrificing everything to be part of your team and you know that, then you do WHATEVER IT TAKES to take care of your team.

That is true, but its also true that the point at which a company doesn't have enough money in the bank to cover/service existing liabilities you are insolvent, and presumably you are legally obliged at that point to seize trading and file for bankruptcy?
