debate Flippa description template???

Hello, I am new to domain selling and hope to get into it. I have browsed around Flippa and noticed the some of the high end sellers generally have the same outline, a template which most of them have in common. The real question is, does it work?

Usually, they present the name at the top, followed by a description which goes between one and one million paragraphs long, with a section of a million related sales and another million related searches and their figures to go with them.

Now I get adding so much detail that you could write a book just on the description makes it look professional, but it is all necessary? I ask because I used this template on the only domain that I am selling, only I used one paragraph and it took me about an hour to get it done. So should I really be spending a year and a half making a description? Is it really worth it? Or is one paragraph enough to make a sale?

oh, but how do you know if it is worth paying for extra expenses, like on flippa you can pay $50 to advertise the domain on their home page, should I do it?

how much do you think the name is worth / how much do you think it will realistically get in auction?

if its a good name then paying to promote is worth it because you will get more eyes on the name which should generate more bids, if however the name is mediocre you may not get the benefit from the promotion so this will be a cost

I recommend you to use fiverr.com , for 5$ you will get some good writing services , I always use a guy who write good sale letter after analyzing my domains.

I would definitely invest the time in writing as much as possible about the domain name regardless of its quality. You never know who will look at your listing or what they know about domains. A good domain will sell itself but a semi-good domain may well need some help. It should take you about 10-20min to do all the research and you do not have to write a 100 page essay on the domain just list some pertinent information about traffic/search volume, related sales ect.

It will not hurt your sales in any way IMO

Copy can help a potential buyer understand how to use the domain. Without an understanding of how he or she will recoup that investment they are not likely to place a bid. In my opinion, the length of the copy does not matter. I've had luck selling domains with both short and long copy.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I am pretty smart guy but there are a lot of choices and every try and errors can sting bit. Best question is what type of domain goes where.. Peace

as answered above, you dont know until you try.

As a general rule of thumb:
Genuinly premium domains will sell themselves
Paying for the promos is a risk as domains are quite subjective. What may work for one, may not work for another. It is always a risk.

Hi, with this name I would list it for $9 and then create your own marketing campaign by reaching out to potential end users and using Twitter etc to make people/companies aware of the auction. Good luck.

When you say "on this name", do you mean on my domain or on a domain that ypu own? ahaha just trying to make sure.

Also, for using social media, should I open an account so it's domain specific or so that I can post all future domains on there.... or both for that matter as the domain I'm selling already has some social media around

I saw the name in the Appraisals thread so yes your name

I use a generic Twitter account and message occasionally about any names in auction.

The same might apply for your emails to end users but sometimes its worth the time setting up an email address on the domain name. The email looks better coming from the domain in question.
