Bought a new .io domain through sedo last week a NN.io , bit of an investment and gamble but worth a shot in my opinion.

Anyone investing in .io domains? please feel free to share your investments.

Cheers

Man... :D you must be having too many .io domains now..right? ;)

I don't know what these last 4 are going to be worth but if they are even a fraction of what the .coms are worth they will be worth the $32 each.

Obviously, the golden ticket would likely be, INTERNET.IO but some lucky person someplace has that.

INTERNETACCESS could be the next closest thing to that, obviously not as good, and it's two words, but may be worth something good.
Internet.com sold for $100K back in 2003, a steal!
Internet.info sold for $11,600 back in 2012.

Can't find any records for INTERNETACCESS.com,net, etc selling

.io is interesting in that it gained some traction over the past five years only because domainers were generally not involved in it until recently. It was too high risk to just hold given the cost. That opened up decent keywords at regfee for developers. Specifically, it was one circle of developers who adopted it as a .com alternative for their small size pet projects. Then it spread into some small startups.

Now that many domainers are hyped up about it and the fees have come down at some registrars, I'm thinking this can't be good for an extension that has previously been all about availability and domainer price avoidance.

I would look for .io growth to slow moving forward.

@morf13 Do you think you would be able to sell all these domains within a year? Just curious to know because if not renewal cost can be too much for so many .io domains. :)

I am confused a bit, there is a GOOGLE I/O extension, and a IndianOcean(IO)extension. What are we all registering????

Also, when is GoDaddy gonna get on the ball and start handling .io auctions??? They are really missing the boat here

Why do you think two word .io's are worthless? Because you have not seen many sell on Flippa?
The value is determined by what somebody will pay for it, and what the seller will let it go for.

START UP is two words, do you think it's worthless in .com, or .io? If so, why in one or not the other?

STARTUP.TV sold for $8700 about 2 yrs ago, and I can only imagine what the .com is worth, so, what worthless in a .io??

STARTUPLAND.COM(3 words) sold for $15,000 less than 6 months ago

Startup is one word in this context. And I'm mad at myself for even responding to this thread.

Park.io keeps the best domains for themselves. They sell scraps via auction. It's best to stay away IMO.

I watched your video on domainsherpa
Thanks for the making video.Your the reason I grew interest in io domains.
Since your extremely knowledgeable in io domains would you mind telling me where you think the io market is heading and if tech related domains are the way to go.
Thanks. The trend for .io domains is strongly up - that's a good thing for .io domain investors. Most likely this will continue - I don't think we are near a top. The highest .io domain sales have been low 5-figure, which compared to other more obscure TLDs is low. I would be surprised if there isn't a 6-figure sale soon. IMO tech keywords are strongest for .io because tech companies are creating this demand. And the tech crowd are the early adopters which lead the general population, so I am optimistic to see this TLD grow further.

Why? The names that you have versus what are selling are night and day. Two word keyword based names?

Look at the sales on flippa. Solid one word names UNDER 500 and some under 300.

The better better names are 1000 and a lot if these are recent drops that are flipped to domainers that carry the additional risk.

If you don't know these answers what are you doing throwing away your money at something you don't know.

hope you sell them soon.. very nice domains you regged BTW :)

It's ok to be honest about your desire to see him sell them - we would love to see success - but the names will not likely sell. The names are not very nice - they are mediocre.

Would you buy his these names from him at cost ? If the answer is yes he should sell them to you. If the answer is no then they are not good names.

@defaultuser, your posts are mostly negative. By the way which .io domains do you own?

Unfortunately honesty/opinions can be negative. Some just choose not to share their opinions whether good or bad.
