events NamePros at NamesCon - Jan. 2015

As we all know, NamesCon is being held on January 11th-14th in 2015. Many will be attending and looking forward to networking with other domain investors, industry leaders, and related companies. In business, networking is a task that should be on your daily to-do list to extend brand awareness within and outside of your primary industry.

Well, as long as ethically-challenged individuals are part of that "Agenda" in the form of speakers, then there are those of us who will opt out just for that fact. Why in the world would anyone want to attend a domainer convention where one of the speakers is an individual who, while VP of TDNAM auctions at Godaddy, bid against Godaddy's customers. Those who participate in sleazy auction practices should be shunned, along with those who hold the scumbags in high esteem by holding them up as shining examples of what we should all aspire to.
What a joke. Too bad about that, 'cause there are some comparatively virtuous individuals also participating at Namescon. I'm surprised anyone from Namepros would participate there, considering at least one Namepros forum participant lost a domain to that Godaddy employee in a Godaddy TDNAM auction.

Your post is grossly inaccurate. That "one time instance" is the only time we are aware of certainly. You really think it only happened "one time?" Also, it wasn't ten years ago. The stories I linked to were written in 2008. Why you chose to mislead your fellow Namespros members here with inaccurate data is beyond me, but it says a lot about you.

Perhaps in the future you'll be the victim of a pick pocket, or worse, then be told you're a pain-in-the-ass when you bemoan that the perpetrator who stole from you is continually held in high esteem by others who walked along side you while your pocket was picked. You will probably feel like they don't care because it wasn't THEIR pockets that were picked, and you'd be correct. That's what's happening here.

If the other Namepros member who first posted that he lost a domain in a TDNAM auction to the Godaddy employee who drove the price up to $3000 reads this thread, he too will probably appreciate your understanding. Too bad others here seem not to appreciate our view.

Again your post is grossly inaccurate. My perception of domaining is based on hundreds or perhaps thousands of similar instances and the repeated warship of shill-bidders, schemers, typosquatters, and other ethically-challenged individuals.

To represent here that my perception is based on "one instance," after I've repeatedly posted about the Snapnames scandal and other seemingly sleazy players, means that you are either misinformed, have memory issues, or are purposely trying to deflect negative feedback about the subject matter.

I think a point that needs to be remembered is at the time Go Daddy permitted employees to bid in auctions. We may all think that not cool, but at the time it was permitted, not that it was not allowed and someone broke the rules, HeyNow if you were working there you might have chose to abstain, but the person working next to you may have participated as it was legal. Flippa as you know allows their employees to bid on auctions, now I think every place that allows this could make some note in the bidding that this bid is an employee bidder.

While listening to the DomainSherpa podcast today, Michael Cyger asked if the organizers (Monte Cahn and Michael Berkins of RightoftheDot) could bid in the NamesCon live auction. The answer --- yes. Seems like a bad practice, but I haven't deeply considered it.
