Did anyone else get contacted from this email address? They are claiming to be ICANN and need me to verify contact info.
Is it legit?
Is it legit?
Some domains do require verification, it's particularly prominent in the UK right now. There is No such process of verification!! Be aware !!
Same here. I was expecting Email from Moniker but couldn't believe they this scammy looking template for verification. So I searched namepros and decided to click the link in Email.I got this email today from moniker for a domain I bought from snapnames
It doesn't say it's from moniker and the email verification domain Whois doesn't show proper info.
This is a lousy job at verification and letting customers know who they are.
Update:
This was actually an email verification process from Moniker. I ignored it and they put my domains in client hold!
After clicking the link to verify my info, the domains came out of client hold.
Because it is a scam...Why is everyone saying this is a scam?
Because it is a scam...
They are claiming that they are ICANN but they are not...
If I recall, this was when moniker had huge security issues and loads of domains were stolen. Many people got out quick, including me.Just searched for this email. I had a result with the subject of "ICANN inter-registrant transfer" that was for the transfer of a domain to another registrar. It was not a scam.
Dear registrant of *******.com,
In accordance with the Section II of the ICANN Inter-Registrar Transfer policy (see [https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/transfer-policy-2015-09-24-en]) we kindly inform you of the following changes that have been made to the registrant details of the domain name listed below:
It was showing me the contact change.
I looked at my mail history and there is nothing that indicates it is related to moniker, although it was. Thanks Keith. I didn't realize how old this thread is and that it got bumped up today. For what it's worth, my transaction was in the last month or two and was not a scam nor did it require me to click on anything. It simply informed me of a contact change.
