A few weeks ago I received a bid to one of my lll.net, which did not reach bido price and decided to extend the auction during which no more betting was made and I decided to accept the offer of the buyer.

After a day of silence, I appeal to the customer via the site with the question, what is the actual delay. Got an answer that Bido will contact me soon. After some time I recieved a mail from them:

Hi,

about the auction for ***.net, the high bidder claims that they did not mean to place the bid at the amount it was placed,
and that a technical error with the site happened at that time. They are yet ready to pay $350 immediately for the domain.
We trust the buyer that they will pay should this price be set. We apologize for any inconvenience that was caused by this.

The options the we can offer are thus:
- Conclude a transaction at $350.
- Re-auction the domain with its original BidoPrice of $***.

Please could you let us know your preference, and we'll proceed accordingly.

Thanks,

Kind regards,

I said:

Hi,

I think this is a scam.
Bidder claims that they did not mean to place the bid? Look at the screen. Previous bid was $383. He could not place the bid $350 at that moment. Most of all he had two weeks to contact you with this issue. There is no any technical error here. The buyer lies. And you should not believe it.
If he will not pay $500, or you will not ban his account, I will be forced to publish at all the popular forums (namepros, DNF, etc.) that bido supports frauds and won't use you service anymore.
Hope for your understanding.

They answered:

Hello,

Thank you for your reply on that matter.

We have contacted the buyer, with a request to complete the transaction as it is.
Saying that, This member has a 100% clean transactions history both as a buyer and as a seller since 2009,
We don't think this is a scam in this case. We trust their saying that there has been some technical issue
related to their bid. This did not say they tried to place a $350 bid, but just that there was some technical issue at the time the wanted to bid.
Further, the buyer says they did not visit the site in these last 2 weeks
and were not aware of their bid until received a notification of winning.

After this mail, I reasonable asked them to look at the logs of his visit to confirm this information.
After two days of silence, I recieved:

Your auction "***.net" has been rejected.
Reason:
technical issue while bidding

Naturally, no evidence has not been provided.
Thus, I conclude that Bido.com supports scams and do not worry about own reputation.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I am, indeed, the member he is talking about..BIDO didn't explain it to you. They owe you an apology. So I'll do it here:

I DID bid on your auction, but the browser crashed. When I looked back into my account, the bid I placed wasn't recorded. Otherwise, I didn't really bid, at all, as there were no bids from me placed. I considered bidding again but chose not to, as the domain had terrible letters and I wasn't keen on it. I'm quite glad I didn't re-bid. Anyway, I was notified a few days back that the bid WAS placed, although I wasn't told of it/the bid wasn't in my account. I couldn't report this error to them earlier since the error NEVER DISPLAYED in my account. I refused to pay $500 for another website's error. Sorry for the mess-up, but it's BIDO who owes you the apology.

As for your screenshots: Again, nothing appeared in my account until after I won. That was my case with BIDO. They requested I pay anyway, but I refused to since I didn't have a recorded bid (at least in my account). There is no evidence to show, as it DOES display now that I've won.

Good luck with the domain

EDIT: I didn't read your post 100% before replying. My eyes just skipped around at places. I should note that I never once old them I haven't visited their site in 2 weeks. I'm not totally sure where they came up with that--I've popped in here and there in the timeframe. The argument was as I've described above. Logs will show I've been in-and-out, I'm sure. That isn't in any way contested by me.

What they should have said was that the buyer decided not to accept the winning bid. Because apparently if you extend the auction the last bid is no longer binding at that point.

Q.
When may an auction be extended into another round, and what is the validity of bids placed before the extension?
A.

In some cases, where the BidoPrice (reserve price) has not been met in an auction, and at least 2 bids (possibly from the same bidder) have been placed, the seller might be given an option to extend the auction, for another round of 7 days. However, if the seller chooses to extend the auction, and later on chooses yet to accept a bid that was placed in a previous round before the extension, the winning becomes optional for the buyer. In such a case the buyer may either proceed to purchase, or pass the winning. The availability of an option to the seller to extend an auction is not guaranteed , and generally the option will be only available, as long as bids keep coming in. If you've placed a bid, and the auction got extended, it might be advisable to keep placing bids (up to the level you're willing to buy the item for), in order to ensure that the auction will keep running. Once the BidoPrice has been met, the auction may not be extended into an additional round, and the high bidder wins the auction.

Excellent point. It's not what happened, but this negates the point of the OP's rant

I would like to mention though that non payers seem to be a frequent thing at bido. Not that it does not happen at other places (because it does).....but it happens a lot there. The last buyer who refused to pay still has an active account. Here was his exact reply after placing the winning bid for a domain:

thanks dear but Ido not have engh mony to buy your domain

your domain will expire on 25-9-2014

I can buy it with 5$ only
I will used it for lease 1moth

And the time before this was a buyer who made offers for 9 different domains that were accepted. Then he did not pay. Then he went to cax and placed bids did not pay. At least got the boot from both places. Even though he seems to be active on flippa so far.

I quit listing domains there.

I have no beefs against BIDO, but non-payments happen. Sometimes it's all error; others, ppl are just assholes. I recall a guy on eBay once bid twice on my listing, won, said "I bid in error. Sorry! Please accept my positive feedback." WTF? I gave him negative. A FEW OTHERS left the same, claiming the same as he had to me. Some ppl just bug me

I made the following conclusions:
1. bido deceives their customers
2. bido does not want to apologize for theirs bugs

I feel for ya. This was likely an isolated incident (I encourage them to look into their scrips regardless), but you are owed an apology by them. I don't see the "deceives" thing you bring up, but they should at the least apologize to you or in some way compensate you

I dont understand if your bid was invalid why they did not go ahead and offer the domain to the bidder before you...why reject the enitre auction?

Good point.

And they didn't explain it to you? I sent them the full explanation. Did they just say "He claimed to have bid in error" or whatever, and that's it? BIDO really, really owes you an apology. As the 2nd highest bid was around $350, I did tell them I'd be willing to offer that price for the domain (knowingly offering, of course). That, I can still do/am willing to do, if you're interested. (As said before, I'm not too keen on the letters but if BIDO in no way compensates you, this'll still be a silver-lining to the entire mess)

What about this?

That's pathetic. I was going to send you and BIDO both the explanation but figured they'd send my text your way. I like BIDO for smaller things, but I don't think I'd sell anything there over $100. I've done it a few times but I'm wary now.

Again though, good luck with the domain.

No...

Yeap

No, thanks

Your statements are confusing and full of contradictions. "I bid on your auction." "I didn't really bid, at all...". "The bid was placed." "There were no bids from me placed." It can't be both of these things, twice.

Also, you've effectively dissed the OP's domain here in in this thread (granted the specific name isn't identified), which I find highly unprofessional. If the domain "had terrible letters" and you weren't keen on it, why would you bid on it?

So your browser crashed. How is that Bido's problem, exactly? The big question in my mind, is how could a bid of $500 be recorded that is attributed to you, if, as you claim, such a bid was never placed? Bido should be receptive to your issue regarding the browser crash, but I can't get past all the contradictions and vagueness in your version of how these events transpired.

*Note, in your defense, the OP was overly hasty in using the term "fraud(s)" before getting all the facts here IMO.

Is $500 the next possible bid after $383? because if it isn't, then I see no reason for Archangel to bid @ such a higher price, ie. it could easily be a system glitch

Buyer is free to decide how much to bid. Look at the previous bids: $38 --> $148, $148 --> $250 and so on.

Well, that's what I'm saying, there is no point fo anyone to bid that high when they can bid lower, which leads me to believe that Arch didn't bid for $500

This bid was less than BP, so he could bid and hope I will accept it.

"When I looked back into my account, the bid I placed wasn't recorded. Otherwise, I didn't really bid"- they have to fix such fatal errors asap.

"I DID bid on your auction" - so, $500 bid was placed but not confirmed?

Then you realised "the domain had terrible letters" and for now you are ready to pay $350, is it correct?

Bido support did not respond to tickets, and do not work!

Kind of sounds like a domain perfect storm where all three parties, buyer, seller and Bido contributed to this mess, even if accidentally.
