As much information as you can include about the transaction is welcome, but at a bare minimum please include the domain name(s), the sale price, and whether you were the seller.

Good luck with your sales!

  • Tip: Use the Like/Thanks feature instead.

Questions are allowed, but do not post commentary. If you want to discuss or comment on a sale in this thread, quote it and then post it in the following thread instead:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Now, you have a good price to base it on ($649).

Have you been asking for more than that?

Or if you're happy with half that amount why not let Federer sell it and give him 50% commission?
I think that this would have been a fairer option for you. In fact you could have taken up the challenge and given the 50% to Federer if he sold it within the hour he said he could, and if not sold within that time he would give you the full sales amount.

I doubt Federer would care to sell a domain for someone. I have pm'd him and still no response.

Maybe he is scared !!!! :hehe:

If he could sell this one for $650, then that would be some achievement.

After 1 month of negotiation I have SOLD a .com (can't disclose sorry) for $20,000!!!
The domain includes the keyword "exchange" ...and I was contacted by weird @yahoo.com email address. I almost deleted the message as the yahoo.com email address was BOGUS ....
I found out today that he was contacted by a huge corporation as the WHOIS has updated.
I have paid $7.99 for the .com a few months back...
IF ANYONE GETS AN INQUIRY from [email protected] and the username is a name of a FOOD ITEM!? do yourself a favor and REPLY!!! Reply to every single inquiry no matter how dumb it may sound!
Thanks guys, hope it helps..

Also I have good luck with "hyphenated" .com domain names:
I sold 3 in the last month in the $XXXX range to German companies??
It has been the best month for me in all 6 years of domaining...

Can you share the domains on these sales?

I like single hyphenated domains regardless of what most say. They're easier to read and usually you can find some nice .coms available to register. I've sold several .coms for xxx and even a .net for xxx(all hand regs).

This month has been really slow for me besides a high xxx offer on a Godaddy closeout domain that I rejected.

How did you come to pick that domain? Did you use any tools or you just took a fancy to it?

Were they German names?

Did they find you or you contacted them? How did you find them if the latter?

Great work, btw. Keep it up and post them here :)

I will share my recent sale:
avatar-solutions dawt com was my latest sale @ $3195.
I reg it awhile back for reg fee and sold a week later on SEDO @ BIN price.
I sold 4-5 similar domains from 3k-6k on SEDO @ BIN prices.
I do not have time to advertise or contact end users...
.com is king no matter what anybody else on the planet says!

---------- Post added at 10:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:35 AM ----------

also True-Home dawt com was on of my highest sales too..same thing reg fee sold on SEDO @ BIN.

Yes, I developed my own domaining tool. I do not backorder names, I only buy .coms @ reg fee.
I do not have time to contact endusers daily just once in awhile when i get a killer .com

Some bold and brave BIN prices you placed there for reg-fee names. well done ... he who dares wins.........absolutely magic.

Here is 1 strategy that I have learned over the years:
SAY LOTS OF "NO" to private offers!
If I get a private offer from an enduser and the domain is listed @ BIN on Sedo then I know they want the name but not for 2K bin price.
I recently said "NO" to a 1k private offer and the enduser got pissed off. My polite reply was, sorry but we are not in the same ballpark on this one , and if anything I will raise my price within weeks.
1 week latter I bumped the BIN price to 3k, a few days latter same enduser emailed me back and said he would do 1.5k. I politely said NO again. 2 weeks latter the same enduser bought it at $3k bin price.
Other times I would get an inquiry asking for a "reasonable price", and I would reply sorry I have no resonable pricing for .coms at the moment but feel free to resubmit another offer.
That really seems to piss them off..and it tells me that if they contact me again THEY WANT THAT NAME and they are willing to deal with me and PAY BIG MONEY!
My methods are unorthodox, but it works for me!

Very nice Max. I rarely put domains on sedo but I have submitted some that I like just to see what happens.

I just made my dumbest decision and sold a name for 650 which i bought myself for 460 few weeks ago (Euros, not dollars). I even don't know why i clicked on accept. I regret it. really. I don't need the money and the ROI sucks. :/ Must be one of my lowest ROI ever. I had plans with the name but not much time at the moment (and the next months) for domaining and developing. A good project with this name can easily make you few k in a month in Germany.
it was m.*.*i;ni*jobs**dawt in*fo (omit all the +. *)
Stupid sale. And i still don't know why i did it. Anyway, its done. good for the buyer.
i am sure i will see a nice project on it soon.

At least you made some profit. Learn the lesson and move on. No point in sweating the past.

For that price and the fact that it's a 2-word .info...You probably made the right move IMO

Its not a two word info. Its a single word info in Germany which is a very popular term for a specific kind of job (up to 400 euros/month).
Thats why i paid so much for it.

Normally i don't pay more than 50 dollars for any kind of .info

Hi,

Would you mind taking us through the entire negotiation process. I would really like to hear what the initial email was, how you responded, and then the back and forth negotiation.

I think this would be very valuable information for everyone here when someone contacts us asking if we would sell xyz domain we currently own.

Thanks

The initial email was HOW MUCH? would you like for this domain.
I always answer I do not have a set price feel free to make an offer.
I was low balled with $100 offer.
I replied, we are not even in the same ball park.
3 days latter he replied with 2k offer.
THEN I SAID NO, NO, NO and guess what NO again untill we reached $20,000 and his message said "this is my clients final offer".
I knew I had to let it go at that point.

Well, I finally made my first sale using email solicitations.
All sales prior to this were sold the old fashion way with the buyer contacting me direct or through Sedo or Godaddy.
I sold two .coms for $2000 each, total $4000.
Money is now in escrow and just waiting for transfer instructions.
I hand reg'd these a few years ago.

I want to thank everyone at the "How to Find Potential End Users?" thread especially Federer for all their help and great advice.
Thanks everyone

:)

Very nice Lennco, you popped your cherry! :snaphappy:

Thanks for sharing your sales and hopefully you can make more sales in this fashion. Can you give details on how the negotiation went and so on?

Took about month for them to reply back from my first email and then a few days of negotiations to settle on price.
I started with $4500 each, they came back with $1000 then I cut in half to $2250 each and they came back with $2000 ea and I said ok.
They are in Europe so communications and time zones wasn't easy to deal with, but we got it done.

$2000 each was the price I actually wanted and I got it :)

Nice, thanks for the details. I can learn a lot from this since I haven't been able to pull in more than $1,200 off a sale and am probably lacking in the negotiation department.

Hopefully I can post a sale soon(no luck lately besides a $700 offer that I turned down).
