Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Facebook announced that they bought instagr.am for 1 Billion USD.

Of course, the price was paid for the app but intagr.am is still a hack.

Yeah, it's a good domain hack. Also with last.fm and ma.tt, they are great domain hacks which are brandable.

Cheers, Daniel

Thanks for the clarification. I thought it dropped & you caught it after the drop as you mentioned "pretty good catch". That's what confused me.

Wouldn't let that go for less than low-mid x,xxx worst case. Though a correct end-user price is low xx,xxx but that implies waiting a lot.Pretty strong product-related term.

I see Chairs as the best name there, wouldnt let that go for less than mid x,xxx but can go xx,xxx in a good day. Speakers is low x,xxx too.

Gprs is now a low value name, few years ago different story.

The rest are in the xxx range IMO but it's all relative.

I would take this beyond any product related term. In all honesty it is just a really cool sounding name. It is so generic that it can be used to describe something that is good or bad. I think it has a wide array of applications to just about any kind of company. Best of luck.

It's not necessary to be a product related term, but that brings a plus to the name IMO if it's just a domain(no website).

@ STP and hopkism

Thanks for your opinions on the names. Will be on the lookout for offers for any of the names!

Got an unrealistic lowball offer on one of my prime .rs hacks. I almost figured out who made that offer from the country of origin. I made a counter offer tho' which is of course an unrealistic amount, that I purposefully put in order to make him to realize what the name is actually worth of :) Hope he wont submit unrealistic lowball offers anymore.

Well done but e must educate a bit the buyers with such offers, not only counter offer but also explain (whenever possible) why their offer is unacceptable.

Some nice info which should be for everybody who can advertise their hacks:

...should have kept it, do you think this trend will continue or was it in a minority ?

Getting 20K is a really rare situation, i have sold other .rs hack for $1000 in the past and received offer for other domain .rs hack.
Sellers negoitating skill and buyers willingness to pay such amount is also a factor here, so its more than trend.
