The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Currently at Sedo there is traditionalira.co (I don't know exactly what that means) for $500 US at auction. I always like seeing these because they are true reflectors of the market. The daily sales with these kind of keywords are very positive indicators, IMO. I think there are some very interesting sales to come over the next few months.

Drops begin in two months, and it should be a good time to get some decent .COs at a good price.

Traditional IRA = Traditional Individual Retirement Account.

In the U.S., workers can invest in IRAs, tax-free, so this is definitely a desirable term.

Sedo's first quarter report is out, the .co extension cracked the top 10 most sold extensions for the first time with a 2% share (tied with .es and .nl).

Was that .co exclusive auction this past quarter?

Sales at Sedo:

Waterskis.co $1500
Mueller.co 1000 Euros
Melissa.co $1100

Some nice sales there. Mueller.co is nice because it is a German last name.

The .CO exclusive auction ended on 2/17 I believe and netted only about $150K in sales.

I don't have too many of these and the ones I do are in Spanish, but I do like the fact that it is a comfortable extension and I really am happy I got corrido to make for a hobby site.,..

I also grabbed viernes, hogares and joya which I am going to hold on to if I do not get the price I want...

all in all, I like this extension just don't go overboard on it.

Just got this from EnomCentral.com and Enom.tv:

For a limited time get .CO for only $11.99/yr!

Guys, you may find the Domain Appraisals forum more appropriate to ask about specific domains.

It seems that the .co domain in volume has caught up to .es and .nl, with 2% volume, as mentioned earlier. Does that mean it has sold the same amount numerically (X amount of domains) or that it has sold the same amount in terms of money ($X amount of dollars?)

Also, any ideas on how to pick up good domains when drops arise? Just looking for dropped ones might be a bit of a pain and too involved, perhaps there are some more sophisticated techniques?

cheers! :)

Interesting question. Maybe some Sedo expert will shed light on this.

"Sales volume" is normally defined as the number of goods sold.

Looking at one quarter, from one venue (SEDO) only means so much. I am sure when .MOBI and other TLD launched the sales volume was much higher out of the gate also.

Every domain is one a kind and therefore each has to be view individually. Just because something sold in .ES it doesn't automatically have the same value in .CO and vice versa.

Yes Brad is right, it is # of domains that changed hands through Sedo for the first quarter of the year. No, it doesn't mean a whole lot right now as one showing doesn't present a trend, but its not a bad sign for .co investors either.

If I remember right it knocked .in off of the top 10 list, which just the quarter before had bumped .be

It's an interesting stat but it is just that and by no means paints the entire picture of the market.

That's interesting. I do appreciate your take on things, however. Just a few months ago you were saying how "important" the "sedo" .co auction was to determine the future of .co. Now this sounds like a bit of a turn-about. As I said before, those auctions are one-off events and don't determine anything. General daily sales from multiple venues will determine the outcome.

Let's put things in perspective here, as many .CO supporters tend to overstate any bit of positive news - This is under 2% of sales, at one venue, for a short period of time.

We will have to see if .CO has staying power. It is not unique for a new extension to make sales out of the gate, just like .MOBI and others.

A few years later .MOBI is basically irrelevant as a reseller, even with 1M+ regs.

Will .CO head the same direction? Time will tell.

Also, the SEDO .CO only auction did totally bomb. It created $150,000 in gross sales with an endless amount of super premium domains, many with reasonable reserves. You can brush the results aside if you want, but it is what it is.

And what exactly are you comparing .CO with? What past auctions are you comparing it with? To me, it's not possible. There has never been a .CO auction before. So you can't apply any benchmark measuring system to it. .mobi had a grand first auction. Therefore we should have taken that and assumed .mobi would, 5 years later, be a grand success. However, this is not the case. Statistics can only take you so far.

In you own personal measuring system it may have been a "bomb" because you had expectations. I expected nothing and therefore the results are not disappointing. I guess it is really a case of differing expectation.

I agree that 2% is not really spectacular, per se. It will be more interesting if it hits around 5%.

Hi guys,

I only own 3 .co's and since two of them start with an "e" I was just wondering if there currently is a market for such domains, e.g. eCasino.co or ePoker.co ?

If you own ex: epoker.co the answer is yes, if you own ejegbxnsjws.co, the answer is No.
When you make a question like that you should realize that it's impossible to give you a straight answer.

Wasn't crazy about the slides that scroll at the top of the site.
The quick motion is uneasy on the eyes for me.
Maybe they could have each slide fade in and fade out...(no left or right movement) which would allow a little longer to read and giving a subtle clue the banner/slide is changing.

For someone that may still have some doubts that Google treats .CO exactly as a gTLD, here's the definitive official stance of Google.

I trust Google as much as I trust an Indian Pharmacy operating on a Canadian website selling drugs to Americans.

That said. I did a search looking for something the other day and a .co was first entry on page 1 and I actually clicked on it!

Funniest of all.. it had what I was looking for proving that the .CO is perfect!
