I don't think you loose your money, as godaddy states:
Details: If we are not able to secure your name, you will receive a full refund.

Anyway I don't know if this .co is worth enough. I mean, isn't like other ccTLD? ok it is .co, nearly .com, but still I don't like it so much.
It is still a colombian TLD, and even if something of us see a lot of value on it, we should remember that normal user don't even know about that. :imho:

What do you mean by ''low priority'' ? Do you loose your $ 30 if a '' high priority'' domainer gets it ?

It means if for example you want cars.co and purchase the $30 dollar standard pre-registration and and another person purchases the same domain with the $299 priority registration then the 2nd person gets the domain since your purchase was a lower priority. But, if this happens the GoDaddy will refund the $30.

I like .co I think it has huge potential. Better than .cm

It has the potential to overtake .com but if it did it wouldn't happen overnight. It would need some success by big name companies who decide to shorten their domains and redirect the .com to .co. I think that it could be taken up by the next generation of the internet who think that .com is old fashioned and .co is better and hence be quite popular. Price is an issue though. $30 is a lot.

if there is more than 1 applicant for a .CO domain during landrush, the domain will go into auction. The auction will be held by pool.com.

Try doing your pre-orders for the third phase at Domain Monster.

They don't charge an up front fee, so you could possibly go for more names. :)

Enjoy!

I have pre-ordered a few general registration ($30.00) premium names at Domainmonster, but I doubt if they will make it that far. I think they'll get snapped up during landrush. But it was free. I wouldn't want anything but premium names in .co, so it's okay. I'm not about to pay $300 for a .co domain.

The main question is whether its only the hype about .CO or will it perform well in the long run, at least to the extent of .org or .net ??
And moreover majority of good .co domains are already gone, many domains will be registered initially in the hype but will they hold value in the long run ?
Many extensions like .ws , .cc were also hyped in the same fashion earlier.

Why domain monster ? They are not affiliated with CoInternet S.A.S.

.CO Registrars | .CO Domain Registration | The OFFICIAL .CO Registry

I chosen GoDaddy.

.Co is the second extension to choose if you want your domain to be considered as "" Commerce"".

.Net .Org as nothing to do with commerce, they just mean network and non-profit organization.

.Net or .ORG has much more significance and acceptance, end users does not care much about the meaning of the extension.
And .net / .org are GTLD's not CCTLD's like .CO

So they claim that they are "technical partners" ?

If they are truly "friends", then why it's not listed here: .CO Registrars | .CO Domain Registration | The OFFICIAL .CO Registry ?

---------- Post added at 07:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:10 AM ----------

I just realized that letters.co is taken at GoDaddy but at DomainMonster it's available !

Yeah... useless gTLDs like .mobi .info .jobs .name .edu .pro .int .biz .gov .asia .arpa .coop .travel .tel .museum .aero .cat

What's next ? .ink .tld .corp .web .blog .xxx .www .3d .world .dog .pig ...?

Do we need more of these gTLDs ?

I disagree, go look at .TV and see that they are widely used in Television rather then the Tuvalu island.

I am much familiar with .tv, owning myself few .TV domains.
.EDU, .INFO, .GOV and many other gtlds are not useless.
Anyways I need not argue, Time will tell the future of .CO
Good Luck !

Time will tell the future of .CO

.Co's aren't new, they've been arround since 1991 if im correct, they just weren't up for public availability,

There's not many ccTLD's that are used widely for global use, i think Co's actually have the potential to work, i believe in it enough to already pre oredered some co's

Domainmonster offers FREE pre-ordering and is darn good at nabbing domains, so I don't care if Domainmonster is not on some lame .co list.

;)

There are only 10 offical .CO registrars. DomainMonster and many others are resllers of .CO, but this doesn't mean they aren't good. They might even offer better prices than the registrars which are directly accredited.

This is not to say that .co will be an overwhelming success, but anyone with an online business will need to register their brand and generics in defensive .co domains, simply because the TLD is so close to .com. Too much possibility for scammers to spoof bona fide sites.

Also, will other .co users (.co.uk and .co.in) be registering domains in .co?

These are interesting questions...

The waiting time is killing me to death. I have Pre-Registred 3 .CO as Landrush hoping that they don't go to auction.
