Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Latest update of .tel control panel supports MX record management in "Settings", allowing you to setup email, i.e. [email protected]. There's also a short tutorial to guide you through setting up a Gmail account using Google Apps.

Still over 7,000 left. There's not going to be a buyout any time soon.

A Little Help From My (Tel) Friends...

I need some suggestions for my TOP 100 LIST from members of the .tel community.

There may even be a Lovely Parting Gift for one especially clever contributor.

Thank you!

So .Tel - 2 to 3 years before true value is realized, that's what I'm thinking.

I see lots of hype about every new domain, and real estate being what it is, a good piece of the internet is worth something...

So what's it worth?

When .Tel came out I saw how unique it is and dove right in, but I never thought any of them except the really obvious names would be worth much for years. Except the really hard to get very obvious (like winning lotto being able to register them names).

So I see people getting frustrated weeks after acquiring names with lack of resale. Everyone wants a fast buck.

PATIENCE.

Telnic do your job right, get .Tel ingrained in every cell phone rom (you've reserved pure numbers so this is an obvious strategy), and your domainers will be very pleased.

Don't speak too fast, I see on SEDO exit.tel auctionned with 1 bid of $250 and another dot tel too with bid.
Each time a .tel is for sale on SEDO it is sold for at least $150

Google is now allocating authority to .tel domains. Check out results for "henri asseily". I have my own authoritative domain!
If you're serious about SEO, .tel is an absolute must. It's the cheapest $20 you could ever spend on SEO. Spread the word. :)

Can you maybe explain that a little further? what makes it authority?

Your .tel simply has more link juice going for it than the results below it. We're talking a Flickr, Twitter, LinkedIn and MySpace account. No TLD should have a problem topping social site profiles.

"If you're serious about SEO, .tel is an absolute must." Wow, that is some serious snakeoil. I'm getting the feeling more and more that .tel is relying on domainers as a crutch to lean on.

And link juice of course.

Think of the 40% of US businesses that don't have a website (plumbers, window cleaners, etc...) and pay yellow pages directories to put them online. .tel will help such businesses get more exposure and give them a search engine anchor.

And indeed, it's not very hard for my domain to rise above the other pages about me. However, I am very happy that my domain gets above all the garbage that Google thinks is most important about me. If I didn't have my domain, a Google search on me would be essentially worthless.

Having a listing in the yellow pages provides local exposure. You essentially pay for the traffic (leads).
Why have a .tel instead, that will get no traffic at all ? Doesn't make any sense to me.

.Tel continues to be a strange thing to me. I own several identical to my business trademarks, and am surprised how rapidly they were included into search results. However, I would like to add some visual customization to them so they can be readily identified as official. In their current state, I think most users reaching my .tel would think they reached an unofficial index website.

I have a $2000 offer for a .Tel, but feel it's to soon to sell.

I've been offered $2000 bucks for one of my .tel, I just think it's too soon to sell any name. Folks trying to make a fast buck are just going to lose in the end.

I need to see where .Tel is going before I can price anything.

Because .tels are able to replace phonenrs.

Sometimes you walk by a plumberoffice, he has a sign,
"plumber call 08-743 34 63"

(Sure he will be listed in the yellowpages but he can't advertise it)

Suddenly you need a plumber but can't remember his business name or phone nr you check the yellowpages and find another plumber. Good for you not for him.

Scenario 2.

Sometimes you walk by a plumberoffice, he has a sign,
"plumber NYplumber.tel"

Suddenly you need a plumber and this time you remember NYplumber.tel You write it in your cellphone and you call him, he gets a customer.

You are satisfied and next time you call him again you even recomend him. Its easy to share his phonenr.

A YP listing wont do that.

Sure he could have had NYplumber.com aswell but this plumber is no good at the internet and the NYplumber.com was 10 times more expensive and required a him to spend more time and money on a webpage. So the NYplumber.tel fits him better.

For him its the best solution.

I totally agree, serious domainers must pay 1 year renewal fee before selling it, I own a portfolio of over thousand dollar for renewal it can hurt some people but not me when I see some portfolio having hudreds of junks of any kind of TLDs that is really a pity. So Dot tel Domainers stay tunes. :sold:

That is exactly what a dot tel is for :hehe:
Having generic, services and Geos are best.
